Venerated Venomous Consort

As it was Gu Xijiu’s farewell dinner, there were many toasts just for her. Gu Xijiu was not stupid enough to drink all the toasts, but most of the time, she just had to have a sip to be polite.

Some who had ulterior motives, who wanted to get her drunk, were blocked by Rong Che.

As Rong Che was resourceful and was a social butterfly, one would feel the spring-like warmth when he was kind to him.

He did not only drink on her behalf, he also silently sent the imperial maid to prepare a drink to neutralize the alcohol and placed it in front of her.

His actions had induced jealousy among the ladies.

Many had shifted their focus on him.

Among the four childes of the capital city, though the appearance of Rong Che was not the best, he had the most deliberate gesture. Regardless of what he did, he often appeared to be idling like the breezing wind through a bamboo forest.

Rong Jialuo suddenly felt rather remorseful as Gu Xijiu has actually retreated towards him but she stumbled towards Rong Che instead, and that brat got her successfully!

He could only see that the brat was currying Gu Xijiu’s favor.

As for Di Fuyi, he had been keeping his cool. The alcohol set in front of him was brought by himself and the imperial maid who was serving him was the most beautiful and graceful maid in the palace.

The emperor specially trained two maids for Celestial Master Zuo and Celestial Master You each, when they participated in the palace’s dinner. Besides, their job was to serve only the two of them.

They were not only able to serve swiftly but also looked very beautiful. More importantly, they were very clean and their hands were very smooth and tender - not even a single blemish could be seen. Their movement was perfect, hence, pleasing to the eyes.

However, such a maid had the tendency to make mistakes too. When she was serving Di Fuyi, her hands suddenly jerked and the alcohol actually turned over into the glass in front of her, and with a clang, the glass fell to the ground!

As the floor of the hall was made with white marble, the fragile glass made with fine white jade was broken into half immediately after it dropped onto the floor.

As it sounded like the broken string of an instrument, everyone’s heart missed a beat and shifted their focus towards Di Fuyi.

Meanwhile, Gu Xijiu had just refilled a glass of alcohol for Rong Che. As Rong Che was such a gentleman and he always prioritized Gu Xijiu, she thus felt that she should repay his kindness. So, she helped him refill his glass after he finished toasting his glass to others.

Rong Che was happy and his gaze was glimmering; when reaching out for the glass, his small finger even touched her palm…

Gu Xijiu slightly frowned but before she could respond, the glass of Di Fuyi had fallen to the floor!

That crack also slightly shook her hand, causing half the glass of alcohol to spill exactly on Rong Che’s robe.

Rong Che, ”…”

”I’m sorry.” Gu Xijiu apologized. She wanted to help but eventually became trouble instead. Regretfully, she looked at him, ”Your robe is dirty, do you want to go and change it?” The eighth prince had a fetish about cleanliness and would not wear a robe even if it had a little dirt on it.

Gu Xijiu knew this because she had met him a couple of times in the last six months, hence, she asked.

Rong Che shook his head, ”No, it’s alright, I’ll just wipe it. That will do.”
