My Youth Began With Him

Thank goodness Huo Mian reacted fast; her hand grasped the rooftop railings as tightly as she could.

“What are you all standing there for, go save them!” Chen Jie was on the verge of tears as she screamed at the policemen.

Only then did the police and firemen come back to their senses and run up to them, pulling them up with all their might.

Huo Mian sighed in relief as her feet landed on the rooftop…

“You acted too rashly… you shouldn’t have approached her like that; do you know how dangerous that was?” The leading policeman shouted at Huo Mian.

“You don’t know her. She suffers from mania and I couldn’t keep playing ball with her, or else she might have become more agitated, causing the situation to become much worse,” Huo Mian replied calmly before Chen Jie helped her up. “Sedate her and let her rest. I’ll come back to see her later.”

“Yes, Chief.”

Huo Mian then looked at the girl’s parents, who were scared-to-death. “If you don’t want to kill your daughter, stop forcing her. Shouldn’t you ask her opinion before deciding to send her to England or the U.S.? Rather than placing all your hope in your daughter and pressuring her to bring you wealth and fame, you should rather focus on letting her grow up peacefully and happily…”

Then, she dragged her exhausted body downstairs…

“Chief, it’s almost lunchtime. I’ll go get you some, you should eat before you leave.” Chen Jie felt bad for Huo Mian, so she held tightly onto her on their way down.

“Ahem… no, it’s okay, I need to head back to the company. Keep the patient under observation and let me know if anything else happens.”

“I will, Chief.”

Huo Mian tried her best to feel alive. Then, she got onto her Audi R8 and headed towards GK.

On her way there, Qin Chu called her. She declined his video call and called him back via voice dial.

“Why did you hang up on me?”

“I’m driving…” Huo Mian tried to make her voice sound vibrant; if Mr. Qin found out that she almost fell off a building, he would probably punish her with his belt again…

“Have you eaten?”

“Not yet, I’m heading to the company right now. I’ll eat when I get there.”

“I saw the live broadcast of the press conference.”

“What do you think? Did I embarrass you?” Huo Mian laughed.

“Honey…”

“Hm?”

“I’m sorry…”

“Why are you apologizing?” confused, Huo Mian asked.

“So many incidents have been happening and you’re exhausted because of me, I feel really bad… you shouldn’t have been forced into holding the press conference…”

“Don’t say that, aren’t we married? We’re supposed to be with each other through thick and thin… We were tied together from the moment we registered for marriage, so we’ll live and die together. Your glory is my glory, your troubles are my troubles…”

“Mian, how can I ever let you go?”

“Qin Chu, are you saying that you’re planning to let me go?” Huo Mian chuckled.

“No… what I meant is… I’ll never let you go.”

“That’s much better. Don’t even think about throwing me away, I’m the glue to your rubber… this life, the next life, and the life after that… I plan on giving the Lady of Forgetfulness a really hard time.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Chu couldn’t help but laugh… He had been dealing with complicated matters all day, and only when he was talking to Huo Mian did his heart feel at peace…

“Honey… I’m heading to the company to make a decision on GK Jewelry’s spring line.”

“Mhm.”

“Do you have any suggestions?” Huo Mian asked.
