My Youth Began With Him

“Ahem… what are you blabbering about? I’m really hungry, not that kind of hungry.”

She was shocked speechless by her husband’s dirty mind…

Qin Chu chuckled and began driving away from the hospital.

“Where are we eating, honey?”

“Gao Ran and Zhu Lingling are waiting for us to eat hotpot. What do you think of Bashu Sichuan Cuisine?”

“Sounds perfect, haha,” Huo Mian laughed.

Bashu Sichuan Cuisine was a specialty hotpot restaurant known for its spiciness.

Apparently, even its chili oil was made with red pepper that originated from Sichuan, so it was as spicy and numbing as could be…

Those who never had it would have diarrhea their first time, but for some reason, all four of them loved spicy food.

Therefore, Huo Mian could barely contain her excitement upon hearing that they were having hotpot with Gao Ran and Zhu Lingling.

“Did you watch the news today?” Qin Chu suddenly asked, and Huo Mian tilted her head to look at Qin Chu in amusement. “Hey, honey, I didn’t know you followed tabloids.”

“I just thought it was pretty sudden.”

“So did I, and my first reaction was that the photos were faked, but Xiaowei said she asked the IT department at the municipal bureau. Apparently, the photos weren’t photoshopped, so the rumors are probably true.”

“I’m more curious as to Huo Siqian’s ultimate goal,” Qin Chu said, feeling a little unsettled.

That feeling crept up his spine whenever Huo Siqian made a sudden move.

“Didn’t he do it to suck up to Mayor Song?”

Qin Chu shook his head. “The Huo Corporation doesn’t need the mayor’s help to thrive, so him sucking up to the mayor is unnecessary. He could’ve chosen any socialite to marry, but why did he choose Song Yishi?”

“Perhaps she’s more suited to be his wife?”

Huo Mian didn’t tell Qin Chu that Huo Siqian once promised her that he was going to deal with Song Yishi.

First, she didn’t want Qin Chu to think too much into it.

Second, Huo Siqian’s words were not trustable. It was true – outsiders never understood the reasons behind his actions.

Suddenly, Huo Mian’s phone began to ring…

“Hey Xue’er,” Huo Mian said upon picking up.

“Huo Mian… I had a miscarriage.”

“What?” She was shocked; wasn’t Mo Xue’er just saying that she wanted to keep her child? How did she have a miscarriage already?

“I’m at the hospital, my child’s gone…” Mo Xue’er’s voice was feeble, and Huo Mian asked, “What happened? Did it have something to do with today’s news?”

“Ha… it seems like he doesn’t care about my life and death. It’s better if my child died, or else it will only suffer with me.”

“Get some rest, the company will give you some days off. Don’t feel too pressured.”

“I know. Huo Mian… do you know why Huo Siqian chose Song Yishi?” Mo Xue’er suddenly asked, and Huo Mian replied with uncertainty, “Um… I’m not so sure.”

“Haha…” Mo Xue’er smiled, sending goosebumps all over Huo Mian’s body.

“What happened?”

“Nothing, I was just asking… You should go back to what you’re doing.” Then, Mo Xue’er hung up.

Huo Mian felt weirded out by this series of events…

She faintly had a feeling that Huo Siqian had something to with Mo Xue’er’s miscarriage and Song Yishi’s scandal.

But she had no idea what he was up to…

When Qin Chu and Huo Mian arrived at Bashu Sichuan, Gao Ran and Zhu Lingling had already ordered.

The four of them chatted in their private room when Zhu Lingling suddenly held up her phone and said, “Hey, guys, something happened at the Huo Corporation.”

Huo Mian glanced over at the news: Huo Zhenghai, Chairman of Huo Corporation, announced his resignation earlier today. Mr. Huo Siqian now owns 75% of Huo Corporation, successfully becoming the first successor and biggest shareholder.

“The old man lost…” Huo Mian commented faintly.

“Huo Siqian’s been quite active lately, do you think he’s plotting something?” Even Gao Ran felt like something was wrong.
