My Youth Began With Him

Zhixin was pessimistic…

“Everything will be okay. Trust me.”

Qin Chu was determined not to tell Huo Mian. When they raced to the First Hospital, Yang Meirong had woken up.

The doctor walked out and said bluntly, “Ms. Yang has a weak heart and high blood pressure and can’t take more mental stimulations. She passed out because of emotional disturbances and isn’t fitting to take care of another patient here. I suggest she stay here for observation for a few days until her condition is stable.”

“Where’s my mother-in-law?” Qin Chu asked the doctor.

“She’s in one of the extra-care wards. You guys can visit her now, but make it a short visit. I’ll give her a shot of sedative to let her sleep.”

Nodding, Qin Chu walked toward the ward with Zhixin.

When he saw Yang Meirong lying in bed, looking haggard, Qin Chu felt bad.

When his Mian comes back one day and finds that he didn’t take good care of her mother, she’d be disappointed.

Silently, Qin Chu calmed himself down and walked in. Zhixin followed him, trying to hide his tears.

In a couple of days, blows had come to them one after another.

After Bella sank into a coma from being attacked, Jing De had disappeared or left without saying goodbye.

Now, his mother fell sick after taking these blows.

Zhixin found it hard to take all these heavy blows; at a loss for what to do, he could only weep…

“Mom…”

Qin Chu walked over to the bed.

“Chu… You came.”

“Yeah.”

She looked at Zhixin who was weeping behind Qin Chu and said with a wave of her hand, “Boy, don’t cry… I’m not dead.”

“Mom, stop it. You’ll live to 100 years. I want you to stay with me…” Zhixin said the words chokingly.

“I’m fine. I just need some rest. Don’t worry about me, boys… Get someone to take good care of Bella. What if she wakes up and needs to drink water or have food?”

Yang Meirong was a typical person whose bark was worse than her bite; she truly loved Bella.

“Mom, don’t worry. I’ve arranged caretakers to take care of Bella over three shifts 24/7.”

Qin Chu held his mother-in-law’s hand and comforted her.

“Chu… Do you have news about your… Uncle Jing?”

Finally, she asked the question.

Qin Chu felt bad because he had killed the imposter Jing De in person. Facing his mother-in-law’s question, he almost couldn’t get the words out.

“Not yet… Uncle Jing might have felt disturbed and left home of his own will… Please don’t worry about him; he might come back after he calms down.”

“Yeah. I think so, too… He’s so honest… I’m just afraid he’s out there without money and getting bullied by people…”

“Mom, my dad can take care of himself. You must take good care of yourself,” Zhixin walked closer and said with tears in his eyes.

“I’m fine. It’s a minor discomfort. Where’s your sister?”

“My sister doesn’t know you’re ill. My brother-in-law doesn’t want her to know.”

“Yeah. Chu is right. Don’t tell Mian. Don’t let her worry about me…”

“Okay.” Zhixin nodded.

“Chu… I miss my granddaughters…” Yang Meirong’s voice was weak.

“Pudding and Little Bean can always make me happy.”

“I’ll bring them over after school.”

“Chu… My daughter has had a hard life… She has had little happiness in her life. When I’m gone, she’ll be a poor motherless girl… You must take good care of her.”

Yang Meirong sounded as if she was saying her last words; Qin Chu felt unsettled.
