My Youth Began With Him

“Go ahead.”

“You must promise me that you won’t be angry.”

“This again?” Qin Chu smiled in resignation.

“Promise me, or I won’t tell you.”

Huo Mian had used this antic on Qin Chu many times and had never failed.

“Okay. I promise I won’t be angry.”

“Don’t scold me.”

“When have I ever scolded you?” Qin Chu raised his eyebrows.

“You can’t give me the silent treatment.”

“No, I won’t.”

“Don’t overthink and don’t misunderstand me. You must talk to me about any concern you have on your mind.”

“Okay.”

“Then I’m going to tell you now…” Huo Mian didn’t dare to look at Qin Chu’s eyes.

“Go ahead.”

“I went to the First Hospital this afternoon.”

“Yeah. I heard it from the chauffeur.”

“Huo Siqian had an operation there.”

“What happened to him?” Qin Chu wasn’t surprised that Huo Siqian had an operation; he knew Huo Siqian was capable of anything.

“He pierced his eardrum with a small stick in the prison.”

“Oh? What happened later?” Qin Chu still looked calm.

“Then Gao Ran’s men sent him to the hospital. But he refused to have the surgery unless… he could see me.”

Huo Mian’s voice turned smaller since she felt guilty.

“So, you went to the hospital because of this?”

“Yeah. I stayed in the OR until it finished,” Huo Mian told him everything.

“How is he now?”

“He’s out of danger but his hearing will be impacted in the future.”

“Okay.” Qin Chu nodded but didn’t say more.

“Honey, are you mad?”

“Why would I be mad?”

“Because I helped him. He’s our enemy and I shouldn’t have softened my heart,” Huo Mian repented.

“No, you did the right thing. He’s not supposed to die right now.”

“I know he did many things to harm our family, especially you. His psychotic obsession with me must be a thorn in your heart. I know I shouldn’t have done that, but… Honey, my feelings are complicated when I face Huo Siqian. Despite his many horrendous crimes, I… don’t want him to die like this…” Huo Mian couldn’t explain what she felt and was frustrated about it.

“I understand. Honey, we’ve been together for many years; I know all the thoughts on your mind.”

Qin Chu looked down on her with an easy smile.

“Really? You don’t want to lecture me?”

“Why would I do that?”

“Lecture me for being Saint Teresa, hypocritical, pretentious, and disgusting… The people who don’t like me just use these words to describe me, right?” Huo Mian pouted.

“I don’t agree with them.”

“What do you think of me then?” Huo Mian looked up at Qin Chu’s gorgeous face curiously.

“I think… my wife is always right no matter what she does.”

“Haha! Mr. Qin, you’re shameless…” Huo Mian laughed.

“I won’t lower myself and be mad with a mentally-diseased man. You must trust your husband on this point. I don’t want you to see Huo Siqian not because I’m jealous of him but that he’s a dangerous man. You’re pregnant and I’m concerned for your safety,” explained Qin Chu.

“I know. Honey, you’re so awesome. I truly think no one can understand another’s unsaid words, but you can understand my hesitation before I can say anything…”

“Because I’m your husband.” Qin Chu smiled.

While they expressed their love for each other in the office, Su Yu had just returned home.

The moment he got out of his car, he was stupefied because he saw a military green tent had actually been erected right in front of his house.

“Fu*k! What the heck?” Su Yu had never seen anyone who would be so bold as to erect a tent in front of his house; the person was playing with fire!
