The Ultimate Evolution

Aldaris rubbed his fingers, and sparks popped out of them.

“You can never have too many achievement points and good equipment,” he remarked coldly.

“Don’t be careless now. The enemies probably outnumber us by three or four times. Their chances aren’t low at all,” warned Sheyan. “Ronnie, how about you give us a detailed briefing of the opponents?”

Ronnie, of course, was all too happy to share what he knew. He instantly briefed them on the detailed information of the enemies. Aldaris was surprised at some of the information. According to Ronnie, the other side had an attack-oriented MT and a defensive-oriented damage dealer.

When these two core members of the party were together, not only could they output decent damage, the whole would also become greater than the sum of its parts. They could easily accomplish certain things that ordinary MTs could not.

It was a little similar to the insane dual-MT configuration of Sheyan and Reef. The enemy duo had no ‘Life-Link’, but they had many means to tie the enemy down or to run away. They were like a piece of chewing gum; once they stick to someone, they would remain stuck to the person to death. Their enemy could almost never escape from them.

More importantly, all the people in this party were those who could attack the enemy anytime and anywhere. If you show them a single opening, they would thread the needle and hit you with their attacks. Perhaps you would not lose too much HP, but you would be inflicted with various status effects. They were like a pack of vicious wolves hiding in the dark, their eyes focused on your vital parts. As soon as there was an opening, they would rush up and take a large bite!

Aldaris’ frown became deeper and deeper the more he heard about the enemies. He realised that these bastards they were about to face were quite tricky to deal with. More importantly, there were still more of the enemies that they did not have information on.

Sheyan looked at Aldaris who had turned quiet. He knew what Aldaris was worried about, but he did not say anything to encourage him because this kind of thing was not something that could be solved with words.

A heavy atmosphere filled the place, and it got more and more oppressive as time passed.

Suddenly, Ronnie said in a low voice, “They’re here.”

Sheyan narrowed his eyes and looked towards the metallic street not far away. A group of people had appeared, riding on a couple of Ultralisks and several Zerglings. The group was moving in their direction as swiftly as the wind.

Sheyan did not know how these people managed to get Zerg units as mounts, but he believed that they would have arrived sooner if it hadn’t been for the weird gravitational distortion in this lost city, which stopped any aircraft or flying creatures from flying deep inside.

Sheyan’s attention was on a contestant who was riding an elite Zergling.

The man had a very peculiar-looking shield. The shield was quite broad and its main frame was in the shape of a cross. Overall, the shield seemed like it was made up of various bones tied together, but it had a metallic surface. It was also embedded with crystals that were as deep and wild as the eyes of beasts. The shield looked like the combination of a weapon, a shield, a magic amplifier, and a work of art all at the same time.

This shield was the signature equipment of the MT of Ronnie’s former party, Yanigan. According to him, the biggest feature of the shield was its balance.

“Can you find a way to make Yanigan lose a fifth of his HP?” Sheyan suddenly asked Aldaris.

Aldaris was just about to ask if they should give up and leave or use a hit-and-run tactic, because to defend against them head on seemed almost impossible. When he heard what Sheyan said, he could not help questioning, “What are you trying to do?”

Sheyan fixed a sharp gaze on him. “Can you do it or not?”

After another glance at Yanigan, Aldaris declared confidently, “I can.”

Sheyan smiled. “As long as you can make him lose a fifth of his HP, he’s a dead man.”

“Impossible!” Aldaris could not help remarking in shock. He was so surprised that the blue plasma shield around his body shook violently.

“Nothing’s impossible,” Sheyan dismissed lightly.

Aldaris’ eyes glowed with a fierce light. “If you can really eliminate the MT right off the bat, we’ll actually have a decent chance in this fight. But there’s no way you’re strong enough! In this kind of situation, you might be able to kill the MT, but what makes you think you can survive afterwards?”

“Just try it and see. You’re not the one who’ll be at the front line anyway. It’ll be me, followed by Ronnie, and then you,” said Sheyan calmly.

Aldarius spoke no more. Instead, he started calculating, apparently preparing to release a Psionic Storm. The skill not only required a long time to cast, its timing also had to be calculated in advance.

“But boss, that’s Yanigan! He may seem like he’s carelessly charging in front, but he’s always been very careful and calculative, and he’s immensely powerful….” Ronnie could not help reminding Sheyan in a whisper.

“I want to kill him because he’s the most powerful! If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be fit to be my target!” claimed Sheyan.

When Aldaris saw that the group had reached within a hundred meters of them, a blue bolt of light more than 5 metres long shot out from his hands that were covered in a white glow. The blue bolt instantly formed a terrible Psionic Storm in the area ahead.

The powerful plasma storm swept across the area wildly, its power nearly reaching the sum of 100 natural lightnings! Blue rays of electricity glimmered in every corner of the area. Cries of agony and the smell of burnt flesh permeated through the air.

Although the Zergling mounts had been tamed, they still screamed violently under the intense pain. Some even started to jump around uncontrollably, almost jolting their riders off their backs.

Aldaris immediately saw an opening on Yanigan. Seizing this opportunity, he rubbed his hands together, and a stream of particles as thick as a bucket was launched from them. The stream of particles were blue and white in colour and stretched for over two meters long. It was so powerful that it immediately blew the mount under Yanigan to pieces. Although Yanigan had instantly jumped up, his calf was still hit.

A loud gunshot suddenly echoed in the air!

The gunshot was hair-raising, deeply reverberating in everyone’s ears!

The sound of the gunshot was very penetrating and gave off a sense of fierce impact. At the same time that the gunshot was heard, Aldaris was flung from his attacking position. He glided parallel to the ground at a high speed before slamming into the metal wall nearby. He bounced off the wall like a billiard ball, and only then did the impact force die down.

A fully deformed armour-piercing bullet, looking like a metal pie, fell to the ground from his body. Following the shot, Aldaris’ plasma shield rapidly waned, and a wild blue energy spilled and gushed out of the spot where he was hit.

This incident indicated that the most valuable first three seconds of an ambush had passed. The enemies were already on high alert, and the sniper on the opposite side would not give Aldaris an easy time to cast spells.

The first thing Aldaris did after that was not to heal his injury, but to stare at Sheyan with a provoking look, because he had done what he said he would do, and more!

Yanigan had lost more than a fifth of his HP. Because his Zergling mount had been killed, he had lost mobility and had to take full damage from the Psionic Storm and Psionic Shockwave. His HP had dropped by more than a quarter.

However, Aldaris’ provoking gaze landed on nothing but an empty metal wall. Sheyan should have been there leaning against the wall with his head lowered and his half-scattered hair covering his eyes, but in this instant, he was no longer there, as if he had evaporated into thin air! It felt as if he had never even been there at all!

Right after that, Aldaris heard the hoarse roar of a Vulture’s engine!

The Vulture was personally built by Pontin. He could still free himself from his Thor Project to do that because a lot of the processes in the construction of the Thor could be left to the automated machines after inputting the relevant design parameters. He did not need to supervise the manufacturing process all the time.

Pontin, who had risen to the rank of a leader, had taken some time away from his main project to assemble several Vultures with the materials left by the Protoss. With the help of the robotic hands there, it was an easy job for him. These vehicles were made in case they needed to flee in an emergency situation.

Sheyan was piloting the Vulture. He pushed the control joystick to the limit in an instant, raising the Vulture’s acceleration to the extreme. The Vulture shot forward like a bullet. As the figures of the enemy ahead became clearer, the fighting spirit in Sheyan’s eyes became fiercer!

He was taking on more than ten enemies by himself!

Each and every one of these enemies was strong enough to destroy an army by themselves!

So, Sheyan’s action was equivalent to plunging head-on into a mid-scale warfare by himself!!

A big ball of fire came whirring at him from the front. The diameter of the fireball exceeded three meters, and its heat was so intense that visual distortion had appeared in the air around it. The fireball collided into the Vulture and instantly exploded. The resulting flames spread as far as a hundred metres, swallowing up even its own allies.
