The Ultimate Evolution

Although Sheyan had been notified of the follow-up mission that was “Silver Mission Series hidden branch, Chapter 2: Injection”, he could not find the relevant trigger conditions, so the mission was bizarrely stuck here.

When he asked Dolittle, the key storyline character, Dolittle could only shake his head. He told Sheyan that he had applied all his research results to this mass of liquid metal, making it possess the devouring ability that it did not possess before, and also greatly strengthening the hardness and ductility of the liquid metal after it had taken shape. As for what to do after that, he had no idea for the time being.

Sheyan had never encountered such a situation before, but based on his speculation, he probably needed to return to the realm to further trigger this follow-up hidden branch mission, so he was not that anxious.

At this time, there were three things left in Party Ace’s to-do list.

The first was to complete Vincent’s mission immediately. If they wanted to obtain a high degree of completion and reward for this side mission, then obviously, the sooner Mr. Vincent’s wish was fulfilled, the better.

But Party Ace had mainly used the duration of the mission to stay here to help Sheyan with his personal mission, so it was delayed until now. A while ago, when Cyberdyne Systems was attacked, the higher ups of Cyberdyne suspected that there were moles in the company, so they laid off a lot of people. Thus, a lot of vacancies opened up. That was the best opportunity for Mr. Vincent to go back to the company, but Reef and Zi gave up on the opportunity in order to keep staying in this world. They were close to the deadline of this mission and Mr. Vincent was already getting impatient. It seemed that even if they managed to get a reward in the end, the reward would no longer be that good.

The second thing was a more rewarding prospect. Dolittle had entrusted them with the task of taking care of his old friend’s daughter. Sheyan himself did not receive this mission, but he speculated that the reward should be quite handsome.

As long as they received a high evaluation, the reward was likely to be the dark gold watch dropped by the contestant named Gore after his death. There was no doubt that they had to speed up their progress on this mission.

Sheyan already had a personal Silver Mission Series at that time, so he did not receive the entrusted task, but the other members of Party Ace did. There were still 48 hours before the mission deadline, so they still had a good chance of completing the mission.

The third thing was, of course, to help Five Wheels complete the last Awakener advancement mission. Corina was probably pretty anxious by now. Party Ace would surely keep their promise now that Five Wheels had upheld their end of the bargain, so this matter had to be put on the agenda.

It should be noted that every member of Five Wheels besides Mr. Darkness and Corina had already returned to the nightmare realm. The reason was simple — to save on the fee, of course. Every hour they spent in this world incurred a huge cost after all. In that military base, dark type spells were greatly suppressed by the holy power of the Shroud of Jesus, so the members of Five Wheels could not provide much firepower anyway.

Since there were so many things to do, Party Ace naturally had to use their time wisely. After helping Five Wheels complete the advancement mission, Sheyan only had a few hours remaining in this world. However, the other Party Ace members still had more than 40 hours left because they had been entrusted with the task by Dolittle.

According to the mission hint, the daughter of Dolittle’s old friend was currently in England. Sheyan naturally could not fly to Europe together with his party, or he would probably be forced to return to the realm while he was flying over the Atlantic. Therefore, he remained in Los Angeles.

The first reason he stayed was because he still wanted to try his luck and see if he could find any side mission. The second reason was to protect Dolittle from harm.

Dolittle could hardly wait to repair his heart after he got his hands on the liquid metal.

Mogensha made a lewd guess that maybe Mr. Dolittle was extremely tired of being at the bottom every time he had sex. He could not wait to have a strong heart driven by future technology to help him display his masculinity!

A cardiac operation was, in truth, quite complicated, but now that Dolittle had the support of a large amount of advanced technology, it had become quite a simple matter.

Using the arm from the wreckage of a T-910, he made a robotic medical device which seemed crude, but was actually quite advanced. After inputting a series of programs into it, Dolittle lay down on the operating table.

Dolittle seemed to have quite a lot of confidence in this machine he made. He only gave himself a local anesthesia so that he could witness the heart operation with a conscious mind!

In Sheyan’s eyes, the operation was surprisingly simple and fast. After Dolittle had laid down on the operating table, the arm slowly penetrated Dolittle’s heart with a large syringe and retrieved about 300 milliliters of pericardial effusion, then injected the relevant therapeutic medicine.

After the needle was sterilised again, about fifteen grams of liquid metal was injected into Dolittle’s heart. The liquid metal, which had been pre-conditioned, automatically filled the swollen and damaged organ. At the same time, it took over the function of maintaining the beating of the heart. With that, the operation was over!

Sheyan accidentally caught a glimpse of the design parameters displayed on the computer screen. It turned out that “strong” would be an understatement to describe Mr. Dolittle’s new heart after the operation. The heart would remain functioning even if it was hit by a bullet. From this, we can see that sex and war are indeed the driving force behind the advancement of human civilization.

In the end, Sheyan failed to find any side missions which would let him to keep staying here. After all, his invasion of the Cyberdyne Systems building had probably screwed up a lot of things, cutting off the sources of many side missions. After having a talk with his teammates, he could only return to the nightmare realm first.

The things Sheyan had to do after he returned were quite tedious this time, so at least he would have more time to deal with them if he returned earlier. More importantly, the most crucial matter at hand, ie. the “Silver Mission Series hidden branch, Chapter 2”, probably had to start from the nightmare realm. If he returned earlier, he would undoubtedly find out the next step earlier and plan his next move well.

Sheyan was originally standing on top of a building where he could see the traffic and crowd coming and going on the streets below. But at the moment of choosing to return, he found that strands of electricity started crawling all over his body, before they finally fused together around him.

Then, a spatial rift was torn by the violent energy fluctuation. He could feel the surge of a violent force. It seemed that the whole dimension was showing a strong resistance to this forceful way of creating a crack in it.

Sheyan immediately understood that what he was experiencing at the moment should be the same way Skynet tore apart the dimension and transmitted the Terminators over. It should be a single transmission this time. From what he could see, the single transmission process should already be a very mature technology, as he could feel a barrier formed by electrical energy completely blocking the violent surge of power outside.

From this, Sheyan deduced that the immature method of group transmission utilised by Skynet before this was probably extremely risky. Once that violent force broke through the electrical barrier and touched him, Sheyan could almost be certain that he would instantly be reduced to ashes. No wonder even a monster like the T-1000 was permanently damaged.

Not much happened at the return space. Sheyan and his party did not go to the Terminator world for the main mission anyway. The realm merely gave him 4 achievement points without any additional reward, but it was better than nothing.

Sheyan’s mind was elsewhere the entire time. As soon as he returned to his private room and regained his sight, he immediately inquired about the “Silver Mission Series hidden branch, Chapter 2: Injection”. As he expected, there were further information.

[ Lieutenant Colonel No. 1018, you have successfully completed the first chapter of the Silver Mission Series! ]

[ You have achieved the highest degree of completion (Lvl Max) in this mission! ]

[ Processing your mission reward. Please wait. ]

[ Please wait. ]

The wait actually lasted for more than half an hour. Also, Sheyan finally understood why he could not proceed with the mission in the Terminator world. The reason was simple: the mission reward needed to be processed in the nightmare realm, so of course the mission was stuck there.

Eventually, the long-awaited notifications arrived.

[ You have obtained the reward: Liquid metal reinforced life-form (embryo). ]

[ You have obtained the subsequent mission: Silver Mission Series hidden branch, Chapter 2: Injection ]

[ Mission description: According to the relevant clues on the weapon, inject all kinds of necessary energy into it to greatly increase its devouring ability. This matter cannot be delayed for too long, otherwise it will lead to the death of the liquid metal reinforced lifeform. Therefore, so if you insist on taking on this task, you will be forced to enter a designated world for your next world, where you will be able to find the necessary energy to inject into the liquid metal reinforced lifeform. ]

[ You have to make the choice within 48 hours before you enter the next world. ]

[ Additional hint provided due to your military rank: If you choose to proceed with this mission, you will not be with your party for the next world. ]

Sheyan frowned when he saw the series of notifications. To be honest, this was a really hard choice for him. It’s not a good thing for a party leader to frequently move separately from his party. Furthermore, Party Ace was currently being watched by the terrifying mastermind behind the scenes. Without his leadership, his party may have a hard time competing with the mastermind!
