Chapter 114: MSOC: Chapter 114

”Brother, you really don’t want to be clan head? If you do, I can try to convince Father to step down. Just don’t use force...” Uchiha Itachi couldn’t contain himself. Uchiha Fugaku had told him that he, Shisui, and Namikaze Minato, working together, couldn’t even touch Kai’s clothes. Fugaku stepping down was better than a public humiliation.

”What’s so good about being clan head? It’s a lot of trouble, dealing with those idiots and their precious family honor. I don’t want it,” Kai rolled his eyes. ”Only your dad would take on such a mess.”

”Aren’t you hungry? Let’s get something to eat.”

Seeing Kai’s indifference, Uchiha Itachi, Hazuki, and the others were stunned.

”Mom, weren’t we going to cook? Let’s have Itachi-kun and the others eat with us,” Uchiha Izumi said urgently, glancing at Kai.

Hazuki hesitated. ”Kai, thank you for saving us. We don’t have much to offer just herbs. I hope you don’t mind.”

Uchiha Itachi knew Hazuki’s situation and looked at Kai.

”You work with herbs?” Kai raised an eyebrow, surprised at the herbs scattered around. In the original story, hospitals used medical ninjas and Western medicine; herbal medicine was rare. What little there was was sold as pills.

”With the medical ninjas at the front, I worked at the hospital and learned about herbs. I gather herbs in the forest and opened this small shop to make a living,” Hazuki said, picking up scattered herbs.

Kai raised an eyebrow, meeting Uchiha Izumi’s gaze, making her blush and lower her head.

”You really don’t mind us staying for dinner?”

Uchiha Izumi blushed, nodding. ”Thank you...”

”Then I’ll cook,” Kai ruffled Uchiha Izumi’s head, making her stiffen. It was the first time someone other than her mother had touched her like that.

”You... can you cook?” Hazuki was surprised.

Uchiha men generally didn’t cook. It was unusual for someone to offer to cook.

”I’m picky. I don’t like your food,” Kai smiled warmly.

He didn’t like miso soup or salty broths.

Seeing Kai bring the hen into the kitchen, Hazuki looked at Itachi.

”Itachi, can your brother really cook? Should I do it? I cooked at the hospital...” Uchiha Izumi said anxiously.

Hazuki was also eager. She didn’t want to waste their only hen.

Uchiha Itachi hesitated. ”I don’t know, but I heard his cooking is better than Ichiraku Ramen.”

”Lord Minato said if he hadn’t become a ninja, he’d be a better chef than Ichiraku Ramen.”

”Better than Teuchi-san?” Uchiha Izumi was startled. ”Itachi, you’re lying. Ichiraku Ramen is the most popular shop on this street.”

”That’s right, Izumi’s right. You even came to my shop last time. Why are you badmouthing us now?” a female voice called out.

Uchiha Itachi froze, seeing Ayame appear.

Uchiha Itachi’s face turned grim. ”They said it, I don’t know...”

”Hmph, I hate you!” Ayame glared. ”I don’t want you here anymore.”

”Izumi, I’ll see you next time. The Third Hokage came to Ichiraku Ramen today.”

”Even the Third Hokage comes here. And people say our ramen isn’t good, haha...”

Ayame ran back to her shop. Uchiha Itachi knew he’d made a mistake.

”Itachi, don’t worry, Ayame didn’t mean it,” Uchiha Izumi explained. ”But can your brother really cook? If not, I have some money. We can go to Ichiraku Ramen...”

”That... might be difficult... Brother rarely cooks...” Uchiha Itachi hesitated.

Seeing their worried faces, Hazuki smiled gently. ”Kai is our honored guest. Don’t worry.”

”Let’s help. Maybe we can make something delicious.”

Uchiha Itachi and Izumi exchanged glances, determined. Even if Kai’s cooking was bad, they’d eat it all for his sake.

They couldn’t let Ayame look down on them.

Seeing their sudden change in attitude, Hazuki and Izumi were stunned.

They entered the kitchen and were shocked.

In just a few minutes, the hen had been bled and plucked. Kai tossed it in the air.

He grabbed a cleaver, lightning crackling around it, swiftly slicing the hen into pieces, preserving the juices, releasing a delicious aroma.

”Fire Release: Palm Fire Jutsu!”

Kai’s hand blazed with fire, wrapping around a pot. The water instantly boiled.

”He’s combining ninjutsu and cooking!” Hazuki exclaimed.

She’d never seen anything like this. His skill was mesmerizing.

She was eager to see if Kai was truly better than Ichiraku Ramen, as Minato had said.
