Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 2297: Chapter 2293: Everything That Was Taken Away

Xia Family Territory, within the main hall.

The Four Great Guardians were seated at two sides.

Even the Xia Family Patriarch, Xia Yifeng, was seated to the right, followed by Guardian Bing, Guardian Nangong, and the nine elders of the Ice Emperor Palace.

On the left, it was Lu Long leading, accompanied by the nine great guardians of the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion.

As for the center seat, currently occupied, it turned out to be just a young man.

And among those present, each an elder with profound cultivation and overwhelming presence, none showed a hint of dissatisfaction or anomaly.

Looking towards the young man in the Chief’s Office, respect colored their gazes.

The young man was none other than Xiao Yi.

In the center of the hall, were Lu Yao and two others, whose cultivation had been sealed.

Behind the rows of seats stood the younger generations of both major forces.

The younger generation, however, showed varied expressions.

Among them, only Xia Yiming could be seen with a respectful demeanor, his cold face even showing a hint of gratitude.

”Lu Yao.” At this time, Guardian Nangong shouted coldly, ”Aren’t you going to explain your collusion with the Supreme Tower assassins quickly?”

”Explain what?” Lu Yao showed no fear, standing straight.

”Victors are kings, losers are bandits. I thought I had schemed against the vile Xiao Yi, yet it turned out the vile Xiao Yi was more cunning and continually schemed against me.”

”Scoundrel, how dare you speak arrogantly?” Guardian Bing’s face showed anger, and he seemed ready to erupt.

Xia Yifeng waved his hand, ”Guardian Bing, don’t rush. Lu Yao and the two others cannot escape death. Before that, let them explain clearly first.”

”Xia Yifeng, there’s no need for pretenses.” Lu Yao sneered coldly, ”Knowing we are doomed today, we won’t say much more.”

”Kill us or slice us, as you wish.”

Lu Yao and his two companions seemed resigned to death, unwilling to speak further.

Lu Long, silent all along, became cold and inexplicably detached, ”Still no repentance? Why did my Lu Family produce three such monsters like you?”

”Honestly explain now, and I can promise you will have an intact corpse.”

”Intact corpse?” Lu Yao laughed more coldly, ”Clan Leader, you always protected and never let outsiders bully our Lu Family lineage.”

”Today, yet for an outsider, you want to kill three talented monsters of the Lu Family.”

”The Palace Master is not an outsider.” Lu Long scolded, ”Since the Palace Master received the Grandmaster’s inheritance, he has been the Sword Pavilion Master we must protect even at the cost of our lives.”

”Nonsense, based on what?” Lu Yao’s cold sneer turned into fury.

”Why must the Lu Family be of the Ice Venerate lineage? Why can’t the Lu Family just be a family? The foolish decisions made by our ancestor and his perceived foolish mission, why must it be imposed on the descendants of the Lu Family?”

”Why must my Lu Family, and I, Lu Yao, listen to a command from an outsider? Xiao Yi, the vile, is unworthy.”

At the side, Xia Canglan chuckled mockingly, ”Facing death, still making excuses for your mistakes?”

”Before the Palace Master received the Ice Venerate Inheritance, when he came to the Ice Emperor Palace, you were already colluding with Supreme Tower assassins, which led to your secret scheme to murder Lingg Shuang.”

”What does it have to do with the Palace Master? This is nothing more than you finding an excuse for your ambition.”

”Now, the main point.” Xia Yifeng spoke coldly, ”Lu Yao, why did you frame the Palace Master? Especially as the Palace Master had secretly left the Ice Emperor Palace, yet you still gravely injured Lu Lingxue to falsely accuse the Palace Master?”

”What do you think?” Lu Yao sneered disdainfully, ”If Xiao Yi this vile hadn’t meddled, Lingg Shuang would be dead by now, and my plan would be complete.”

”First he ruins my big plan, then receives the Ice Venerate Inheritance, being hailed as the Sword Pavilion Master by the Clan Leader and elders.”

”From that moment, I wanted him dead.”

”As for afterward, hmph, you have the Clan Leader to blame.” Lu Yao coldly glared at Lu Long.

”This vile Xiao Yi was utterly disgraced then, branded with the infamy of the rapist, unworthy of being our Ice Storm Sword Pavilion Master.”

”Yet what did the Clan Leader do?”

”Vile Xiao Yi, so humiliating our most outstanding young monsters of the Lu Family, tarnishing their purity and reputation, yet you held hope for him and even planned to marry Lu Lingxue to him, to resolve this issue?”

”After he married Lu Lingxue, you intended to let him gloriously return as our Ice Storm Sword Pavilion Master?”

”From that moment, I knew even more that the vile Xiao Yi had to die. If he didn’t, he’d always be in my way.”

”But the result...” Lu Yao gritted his teeth, his face ferocious, ”Even though he was miserable, though he was labeled a brazen lecher, disgracing Lingg Shuang and Lu Lingxue’s names, yet Clan Leader, you didn’t strike him down.”

”Useless, you’re useless, truly useless.”

”I could only have the strong of Supreme Tower kill this vile.”

”Everything is because of you... because of you...” Lu Yao’s hateful gaze fixated on Lu Long.

Lu Long’s face turned ice-cold, ”Then why did you want to kill Lingg Shuang?”

”You and Lingg Shuang, were childhood sweethearts, with excellent rapport...”

”Ridiculous.” Lu Yao interrupted coldly, ”Just a woman, and one who stands in my way, how is there excellent rapport?”

”To outsiders, I seemed to admire her, but truly, I longed to tear her into pieces.”

At the side, Lu Lingshuang’s face turned white, tears streaming down.

Her relationship with Lu Yao wasn’t that of companions.

Lu Yao had once revealed his affections to her, but she neither refused nor acknowledged.

She had always been focused solely on cultivation, solely on Martial Arts.

But toward Lu Yao, she had good feelings and immense trust.

And today, this man spoke such words...

Everything in the past turned out to be a facade.

The past care, every declaration that she shouldn’t suffer grievances or bullying, each expression of admiration and protection, was mere cover for putting her to death.

”Lu Yao, my junior brother...” Lu Lingshuang looked at Lu Yao in disbelief.

”What junior brother?” Lu Yao’s vindictive gaze turned to Lu Lingshuang.

”If it weren’t for you, I should’ve been the first Venerable Envoy of the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion, and the one to take charge in those days.”

”Why do you outweigh me? Why do the elders, including the Clan Leader, spare no effort in nurturing you?”

Lu Long rebuked coldly, ”Because of her exceptional talent, she is the foremost of our Lu Family’s young generation.”

”But she’s just a bastard.” Lu Yao roared.

”What nonsense are you speaking?” Lu Long slammed the chair, angrier than before.

”Did I say wrong?” Lu Yao retorted, ”In those days, the Lu Family Ancestor had a son and a daughter.”

”The son inherited the ancestor’s wishes as the main family.”

”The daughter ran away without a trace, caring nothing for the Lu Family; later, she consorted with another man and brought back her children, still bearing the surname Lu?”

”What right do her children have to be named Lu? Even if they return to the Lu Family, they should only be considered a branch family.”

”For thousands of years, they enjoy privileges identical to the main family.”

”Lu Lingshuang is from the branch lineage.”

”Additionally, her mother, like the ancestor’s daughter, though from the Lu Family, had children with another man beyond the family.”

”Lu Lingshuang, what right does she have to be named Lu? Why not find her bastard father, and return to the Lu Family, still becoming the Lu Family’s first monster?”

”What gives her the right?” Lu Yao was beyond reason and raged, ”Why did she take what should have been mine?”

”All because of your injustice, old fool.”

”Unjust then, now again unjust for the sake of Xiao Yi, that wretched thing.”

Xiao Yi squinted slightly.

Lu Long, suddenly erupted in anger.
