Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 2199: Chapter 2196: The Ancient Emperor Scroll Taken Away

”What?” Xiao Yi’s face showed surprise.

”Stopped growing? Didn’t they originally say the Emperor Soul Fruit would mature soon?”

Back then, Xiao Yi had assessed that the Emperor Soul Fruit would mature in no time.

The Soul Hall Master had also said, at most a few months, he could even expedite its maturation.

Xiao Yi thought that in the year and a half when he disappeared, the Emperor Soul Fruit would have already matured.

However, since he had no intention of succeeding the Eight Palaces, he didn’t think about the Emperor Soul Fruit anymore.

Now it has directly stopped growing?

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master spoke solemnly, ”The Emperor Soul Fruit is left by each generation before the Crowned falls.”

”Its purpose is to ensure that if no new Crowned one arises in any generation, or if the prematurely fallen Crowned one lacks growth, a Martial Artist can rely on the Emperor Soul Fruit to resist great crises.”

The Soul Hall Master continued, ”The Emperor Soul Fruit had always been in a state of non-growth.”

”But two years ago, a Martial Arts Rain fell heavily for ten days and nights, proving that the Crowned fell.”

”From then, the Emperor Soul Fruit grew again.”

”There’s only one reason it can stop growing.”

”This Crowned one has come back to life again, or heaven and earth have birthed a new Crowned.”

”But,” the Soul Hall Master spoke grimly, ”how difficult is it to birth a new Soul Emperor?”

”Furthermore, judging by the time, it absolutely couldn’t be now.”

”Thus, the only possibility is the Crowned we thought had already fallen has come back to life.”

The Soul Hall Master looked seriously at Xiao Yi, ”I wasn’t focused on the Emperor Soul Fruit matter initially, for I thought it should develop naturally.”

”But a year and a half ago, after the Holy Moon event, when I returned to the Main Hall.”

”I discovered that the Emperor Soul Fruit had suddenly stopped growing.”

”I observed through Martial Arts Retrospection, and the time exactly matched when the three of us left the Main Hall, just when we went to Holy Moon Sect.”

”To be precise, it was exactly one or two days before you stepped into the Holy Moon Sect.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master said, ”When the Emperor Soul Fruit stopped growing, we were eager to bring you back to see what happened.”

”Only you purposely hid, actively breaking off contact with the Eight Palaces.”

”Since you didn’t want to face it, we didn’t disturb you and waited until today.”

”But, the result seems to differ from our speculation.”

”It turns out it’s not you...” The Soul Hall Master looked visibly disappointed.

”Originally, the timing of the Emperor Soul Fruit’s growth cessation fits perfectly with your situation.”

”However, though you have Twin Martial Souls, both of your martial souls are clearly not up to par.”

”After observing with full perception, we couldn’t find any clues.”

”You suspect I’m the Crowned one of this generation?” Xiao Yi chuckled.

”Alas.” The Soul Hall Master sighed heavily, filled with disappointment and melancholy.

Xiao Yi smiled lightly, ”I wish I was too, then I would be stronger.”

”Unfortunately, I’m indeed not.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master shook his head, ”If you were, that would be excellent.”

”If not, it’s not a problem. You’re already impressive enough.”

”As long as you can grow, you won’t be inferior to other martial artists.”

”Fate is unpredictable, not to be forced.”

The last remark was clearly directed at the Soul Hall Master.

”I know,” The Soul Hall Master sighed, ”Xiao Yi is already exceptional, more so than anyone.”

”It’s just that the Crowned is the highest faith of our Soul Hall, I feel a bit unwilling.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master teased with a smile, ”As you say, Xiao Yi outshines everyone.”

”Perhaps he might grow to surpass every former Crowned?”

”Impossible.” The Soul Hall Master shook his head, ”No one can surpass the Crowned Soul Emperor in this world.”

Xiao Yi forced a wry smile and said no more.

Some things cannot be forced.

However, he seemed to have forgotten something.

Forgotten that he hasn’t fully understood even his two martial souls inside him.

Forgotten that he always sensed some secret hidden in them, yet never clarified.

These he took for granted, so he didn’t think much of them.

”Perhaps, there’s still a way to verify.” The Soul Hall Master suddenly suggested.

”Oh?” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master made a curious sound.

The Soul Hall Master replied, ”Simply have Xiao Yi touch the Principle, directly call the Crowned’s title a hundred times, and see if there’s any backlash.”

”No,” Senior Luoo and the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master simultaneously shouted.

”What if it’s true?” Senior Luoo’s face turned cold.

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master grumbled, ”A hundred times? If there really is a backlash, Xiao Yi’s life might be lost!”

”Can the majesty of heaven and earth be trifled with like this?”

”You’re right.” The Soul Hall Master nodded, ”I was hasty, no need to consider this further.”

The Soul Hall Master sighed despondently, ”I’ll head back to the Main Hall first.”

”Xiao Yi, you haven’t been back for a long while. After you finish chatting with Luoo, come to the Soul Hall Main Hall once.”

”Yes,” Xiao Yi nodded.

”The Heavenly Mechanism Main Hall is the same,” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master smiled, ”Though I’d love to see Luoo’s exasperated expression.”

”Seems only you can exasperate him that way.”

”But there’s business at the Heavenly Mechanism Main Hall, so I won’t stay.”

”Come afterwards.”

”Yes,” Xiao Yi nodded again.

Whoosh... whoosh...

The two Palace Masters vanished in a flash.

Leaving Senior Luoo with a darkened face.

Xiao Yi laughed, ”It’s not that they had matters to attend to that they left, but rather because Senior Luoo intends to say something to me.”

”So the two Palace Masters left first?”

”Smart,” Senior Luoo nodded, ”But partially true.”

”As soon as you returned, those two rushed over when they heard.”

”They also wanted to see if you were this generation’s Crowned.”

”Since you’re not, there isn’t much more to say.”

Senior Luoo casually sat down, ”Earlier, you had questions for me, go ahead.”

”Hmm,” Xiao Yi nodded, noting Senior Luoo’s look, indicating no need for formalities and sitting beside him.

”I’ve stopped my travels temporarily and sought you first, Senior Luoo, because I indeed have many confusions to clear.”

”After all, some ancient secrets are only known by the Hall Masters, especially you, Senior Luoo.”

Senior Luoo listened calmly.

Xiao Yi thought for a moment, ”I’ve been puzzling over an encounter half a month ago in Breeze Territory, with a group of evil cultivators.”

”They used certain Puppet Techniques.”

”From their words, it’s called a Holy Puppet.”

”Holy Puppet?” The always calm Senior Luoo suddenly changed his expression.

Xiao Yi nodded, ”Puppets are typically external, yet they could integrate them perfectly and adequately express the puppet’s power.”

”I know that the Ancient Emperor once mastered such a technique.”

”When I visited the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb, I met a Senior from the Flame Hall who told me there were three supreme treasures at the tomb’s end.”

”Three treasures, the best Dawn Bell was taken by you, Senior Luoo.”

”Another was taken by some young girl.”

”I was left with the worst as the Breaker’s reward,” Xiao Yi smiled wryly.

He put away his wry smile, his expression firm, ”I saw the illusion of the three rewards at the end.”

”The one mysteriously taken was a scroll.”
