Chapter 1954: Chapter 1954: Willing to Wait

The woman in purple shook her head.

”I am merely speaking the truth.”

”The Saint Lord treats you exceptionally well, surpassing everyone’s expectations.”

”In my memory, the Saint Lord has always been stern, never showing partiality to anyone. Naturally, no one dared to act presumptuously in front of the Saint Lord.”

”But what about you, Yiyi?”

”I’ve never seen the Saint Lord show even a fraction of tolerance, except towards you.”

”On normal days, the Saint Lord caters to your every need; even if you repeatedly defy her, the Saint Lord can’t bear to punish you even a bit.”

”On the contrary, for every precious thing in this world, whatever you need, the Saint Lord grants it and strives to obtain it for you.”

The woman in purple spoke earnestly.

”The kindness the Saint Lord shows you almost exceeds everyone’s imagination.”

The woman in purple paused and said softly, ”I’m not here to be a spokesperson.”

”Who I am, Sister Yiyi should know very well.”

”I just want to say, if the man Sister Yiyi has been thinking about perhaps isn’t as you imagine him.”

”Or maybe, he... isn’t worth waiting for?”

Upon hearing this, Yiyi fell silent for a moment.

The woman in purple said nothing, just gazing at her.

After a while, a smile crossed Yiyi’s lips, and she earnestly uttered two words, ”Worth it.”

Without explaining anything, without saying much.

Just those two words were enough.

The woman in purple was evidently somewhat surprised by this answer.

Hesitating for a moment, she still asked, ”Why? Sister Yiyi, can you tell me the reason?”

The woman in purple even furrowed her brow.

”To my knowledge...” The woman in purple paused, as if making up her mind, and said solemnly, ”Sister Yiyi, forgive my forwardness.”

”To my knowledge, you were just a maid in that small family.”

”That dissolute young master, the one you think about, treated you terribly, even beating and scolding you at the slightest provocation, leaving you clothed and fed poorly.”

”Compared to the life at the Holy Moon Sect, it’s a world of difference.”

”In my understanding, Sister Yiyi’s life back then was nothing short of purgatory; you should even loathe and detest it.”

”If it weren’t for my inability to go to the Eastern Domain, I might have wiped out that family long ago for Sister Yiyi.”

The woman in purple, gradually growing angry, still suppressed her anger, speaking gravely.

”I really don’t know, why do you miss him?”

”Especially when you repeatedly defy the Saint Lord for him.”

”Him?” Yiyi smiled.

Speaking of the man she thinks about, Yiyi finally had a trace of a smile.

”Love at first sight, is that reason enough?”

The phrase ’love at first sight’ is actually somewhat clichéd.

Furthermore, these four words would never typically come from someone as distinguished as she is.

But today, whether due to the woman’s prompting, or her three-year appointment approaching, growing yearning made her speak without hesitation.

”This...” Hearing this, the woman in purple trembled suddenly.

Yiyi’s smile remained as if she remembered something, softly recounting.

”If the Family Head hadn’t taken me in as a child, I might have already starved to death outside.”

”The young master in my childhood was adorably cherubic; within the family, everyone treated him as if he were a treasure.”

”Becoming his maid was already extremely joy-provoking for me.”

”At that time, nearly all the girls in the family loved to surround him and play.”

”Only I could accompany him day and night.”

”As he grew, the young master became more delicate, more handsome; at that time, whether it was Xiao Shuyue, the most brilliant female of the Xiao Family, or the Murong Family’s precious daughter, they all admired him greatly.”

Upon hearing this, the woman in purple interjected, ”Is he really that handsome and charming?”

”Yes.” Yiyi nodded without hesitation, ”More handsome than anyone.”

The woman in purple gave a bitter smile, ”Could it be that Sister Yiyi coveted his looks early on, hence the infatuation?”

”Sort of.” Today, Yiyi did not hesitate to speak her mind.

”Later, the Family Head left.”

”The young master, just at the time of awakening a Wasted Martial Soul, was deemed a cultivation waste.”

”The family’s status plummeted; within the family, everyone treated him differently.”

”Everyone bullied him, the young master’s character changed drastically.”

”It was then he often hit and scolded me.”

”But I think, anyone facing such changes would find it unbearable.”

”Moreover, I’m just a maid, so I don’t blame him.”

”Rubbish.” The woman in purple’s eyes turned cold, ”Such a man, even if handsome, is just a cowardly waste, what’s the use?”

”Such a person, is he really worth Sister Yiyi’s infatuation?”

Yiyi shook her head, ”Not then.”

”When?” the woman in purple pressed.

Yiyi smiled, ”Once, the young master was assassinated by a killer named Yangg Fu.”

”At that time, I was struck by a dagger, my life hanging by a thread.”

”It was then I first saw the young master, fiery with rage, counter-killing the infamous killer Yangg Fu of Purple Cloud City.”

”The young master was more stunning than ever before.”

”At that moment, the young master, frantic for a way to save me, seemed crazed.”

Yiyi recounted softly, yet her smile grew bright.

”I knew then that I was always in the young master’s heart; past grievances weren’t his intention.”

”Is that when you fell for him?” the woman in purple asked.

Yiyi smiled, ”I don’t know if that counts.”

”But at that moment, I suddenly wanted to serve the young master for a lifetime.”

”Sister Yiyi, you’re really silly.” the woman in purple burst into laughter.

”Who would willingly serve as someone’s maid for a lifetime?”

Yiyi smiled, silent.

She didn’t know how to describe that feeling, but whenever she thought of it, joy was inexplicably abundant in her heart.

Such a thought might seem ridiculous.

But that was the most genuine thought of her youth, watching the person she cared about.

”And then what?” the woman in purple smiled and asked.

”Later?” Yiyi smiled, ”Later, the young master became more outstanding.”

”Resolute, decisive, better than anyone, even becoming Purple Cloud City’s greatest genius.”

As a maid, she would never say such things, but now she is the Holy Moon Sect Saintess.

”Better than anyone?” the woman in purple covered her mouth with a smile, ”Is he really that impressive?”

”But.” the woman in purple said with a slight frown.

”From what Sister Yiyi says, your feelings for that man don’t seem deep.”

”I vaguely remember, I was just 13 when I met Sister Yiyi here at the Holy Moon Sect.”

”By now, we’ve known each other ten years.”

”Perhaps the feelings between you and that man are not necessarily as deep as our friendship.”

”If... If.” the woman in purple paused, ”If he always considered you just a maid.”

”A dispensable maid.”

”He would never come looking for you.”

”If the Divine Lady dreams and the hero has no heart, what then?”

Yiyi shook her head lightly, ”It doesn’t matter.”

”Years ago, I didn’t know if the young master would come looking for me, but I kept waiting.”

”Over two years ago, Steward Cang Yue told me the young master was looking for me, and I kept waiting.”

”And from now on, it will be the same.”

”Even if I am just a maid, even if the young master never thinks of seeking me, but I...”

”...am willing to wait.”
