Chapter 1736: Chapter 1736: The Promise of the Three Masters of the Main Hall

Xiao Yi, stared at the three Masters of the Main Hall.

”Heh.” The Demon Hunting Hall Master suddenly smiled and also gazed at Xiao Yi.

Xiao Yi furrowed his brows, ”What’s making the Master laugh?”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master chuckled, ”Seeing your outfit, this combat suit, reminds me of the past.”

”Countless years ago, when I was young, I was just like this, newly emerging, dressed in a full combat suit.”

”The reason for wearing a combat suit is because a qualified Demon Hunter spends almost all their time wandering in various perilous places and through dangerous demon beast forests.”

”No matter where or when, this sleek and efficient combat suit allows a Martial Artist to instantly unleash their strongest combat power.”

”Oh?” Xiao Yi slightly furrowed his brows.

Demon Hunters aren’t necessarily always dressed in combat suits.

Of those he’s seen, there aren’t many Demon Hunters decked out in combat suits.

Especially like him, in a black combat suit, are even fewer.

Xiao Yi appears as Yi Xiao because he can be free and unconstrained, without any concerns.

This combat suit, without any frills, allows him to fight unreservedly.

It’s a truly free and exhilarating state.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master chuckled, patting Xiao Yi’s shoulder.

”I believe I have not chosen wrong.”

”Although I cannot see your face or know much of your past, after all, your personal details are scarce.”

”But I’ll make it clear today.”

”I believe that with your character, you would never violate the ironclad rules of the Eight Palaces without reason, committing a grave crime.”

”Even if you do, it must be with good reason, a necessity.”

”Since I’ve endorsed you, if I can’t bear the weight of these ’necessities’, what face do I have to let you become the next successor?”

”Someday, if you’re willing to succeed the Three Halls, even if it’s a grave crime, if it’s within my capacity, I’ll take the fall for you; even if it’s the ironclad rules of the Eight Palaces, I’ll disregard it once for you.”

”Thank you.” Xiao Yi nodded seriously.

”I don’t have much to say.” The Flame Hall Master curled his lip, ”Just make sure your grave crime, Yi Xiao, doesn’t involve tearing down my Flame Hall Main Hall.”

”Other than that, I don’t care much.”

The Medicine Venerate Hall Master hesitated with a frown.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master chuckled, ”Since the Old Man Medicine hesitates so much, Yi Xiao, you only need to succeed two halls in the future, without worrying about the Medicine Venerate Hall.”

”How can that be.” The Medicine Venerate Hall Master immediately relaxed his frown.

”I won’t say much either, the Medicine Venerate Hall exists for the Alchemists of the world.”

”Its duty, besides guarding the continent, is to pass on the path of refining.”

”Just don’t commit anything that violates those ironclad rules against refining Evil Pills, causing outrage among all.”

”Other than that, I’m not concerned.”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master chuckled and looked at Xiao Yi, ”Now that the three of us have made promises, are you assured?”

”Yes.” Xiao Yi nodded, ”Thank you, Masters of the Main Hall.”

”Then the boy will take his leave.”

”And the matter of succession?” The Demon Hunting Hall Master asked again.

Xiao Yi nodded seriously, ”I assure you I will consider it carefully.”

”After the journey to the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb, I’ll give an answer.”

”Very well.” The Demon Hunting Hall Master smiled, ”Go ahead.”

”Our Demon Hunting Territory and Ten Thousand Flames Territory are quite far from the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb, you don’t have to return to the Main Hall for seclusion either.”

”However, for your trip to the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb, do you need Jiu Yan and others to escort you?”

”No need.” Xiao Yi shook his head, ”Thank you, Masters, for your concern.”

”Then it’s up to you.” The Demon Hunting Hall Master nodded, ”You’re always cautious in your actions, we are always assured.”

”Go now, after the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb, I’ll await your answer.”

”Understood.” Xiao Yi nodded and bowed to the three.

Then, with a flap of the Purple Flame Fire Wings, he flew through the air.

In place, the Demon Hunting Hall Master and Flame Hall Master chuckled.

”Laugh?” The Medicine Venerate Hall Master curled his lip, ”You don’t even know what ironclad rules this young one has violated, yet you insist I agree.”

”Is there a problem?” The Demon Hunting Hall Master retorted.

”We’ve witnessed this boy’s character, intellect, and talent and have already acknowledged them.”

”Is there any reason to hesitate?”

The Medicine Venerate Hall Master frowned, ”I know, but ultimately we don’t understand what the matter is...”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master cut him off coldly, ”Isn’t it enough?”

”Even someone as hot-tempered as Elder Yan can clearly see that this boy carries burdens, has a story—can’t you see?”

”Who would willingly wear a mask all year round, afraid to show their true self, if not necessary?”

”Such a young boy, such an exceptional Monster, bearing so much—isn’t that enough?”

The Flame Hall Master nodded, ”He doesn’t want to talk because he only wishes to shoulder these matters himself.”

”What he needs is merely our stance, that’s all.”

”Can’t we even give him this assurance, this promise? Then him being a successor would feel rather disheartening.”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master said solemnly, ”Old Man Medicine, since we have acknowledged this successor, yet with much suspicion, ultimately holding back?”

”Then, even if he calls you Master of the Main Hall in the future, calls you senior, do you have the face to respond?”

”I...” The Medicine Venerate Hall Master shook his head, ”Enough, let’s follow your lead.”

...

In the distance, Xiao Yi had already flown far away.

He indeed needs to go into seclusion for some time.

There’s still more than half a month until the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb opens.

He can remain secluded for a while.

However, the words of the three Masters, he does need to carefully consider them.

Since he has promised to consider seriously, naturally he will consider.

Honestly, the three Masters treat him quite well.

Although the interactions with the three Masters haven’t been frequent, today they have already given their promise and made such concessions; if he doesn’t consider it, that would be excessive.

The only trouble is just with the Wind Shattering Hall and Asura Hall.

Overall, he doesn’t have an interest in these positions of Master of the Main Hall.

But if he must succeed, he is more inclined toward the Wind Shattering and Asura Two Halls.

After all, his identity as Yi Xiao was originally meant just to bear the blame.

And now, he must also consider the Demon Hunting Hall and other three halls.

Between two ancient hall alliances, he must ultimately choose one.

”Both are good to me, alas.” Xiao Yi shook his head helplessly, sighing.

”This matter, let’s wait until after the Ancient Emperor’s Tomb to deliberate further.”

Xiao Yi flew for two hours and found a deep mountain forest, then descended.

...

Things were just as the Masters of Wind Shattering and Asura Hall had speculated before.

Whether Yi Xiao would acknowledge and be willing to succeed the Three Halls depends on this opportunity.

The opportunity is when Yi Xiao heads to the Heavenly Hidden Academy, the stance of the three Masters.

But, if the Masters of Wind Shattering and Asura knew, this so-called opportunity merely might push their original successor toward another three halls, what would they think?

...

Third update.
