Cultivation: From Servant to Revered Immortal

Chapter 216: Chapter 146: Beasts at the City Gates!

The fourth day of the beast tide outbreak.

The entire White Cloud Immortal City prepared for war.

In these few days, the array masters of the entire Immortal City had arranged numerous attack arrays around the city walls.

Meanwhile, under Zhou Xun’s command, the alchemy masters, talisman makers, and artifact refiners worked tirelessly through the nights, producing a large number of magical artifacts, talismans, and elixirs.

Zuo Qifan stood atop the west city gate tower, gazing into the distance.

In that direction lay the Hundred Savage Mountain.

After an unknown period, a rumbling sound was heard.

Growing louder and louder.

A quarter-hour later, a black line appeared on the horizon, surging towards them like a tide.

”The beast tide has arrived!”

Before them, a few scattered spirit lights sped toward the Immortal City urgently!

Zuo Qifan, with a resolute face and a grave look in his eyes, ordered:

”Close the city gates!”

Simultaneously, he patted his waist and took out a command flag of ancient design.

This was the manipulation command flag for the Tier Three Middle-Grade Array of the Immortal City, capable of controlling everything except the most core restrictions.

It is second only to the flag in Master White Cloud’s hands in terms of authority.

As mana was slowly injected, the ancient command flag glowed anew.

Soon after, a beam of spirit light shot out from the flag, striking a thousand feet high in the sky.

Instantly, a massive barrier rose, encompassing the entire Immortal City and enveloping it.

...

The Yinn Family of Huiyan Peak was a cultivation clan under the jurisdiction of the Immortal City.

The founding patriarch, Yinn Shiqi, was the sixth disciple under Master White Cloud, and the family’s ancestral land, Huiyan Peak, was a Tier Two High-Grade Spirit Vein.

Only twenty thousand miles from White Cloud Immortal City, it was a prime location.

On this day, the disciples of the Yinn Family in White Cloud Immortal City suddenly returned home.

Bringing shocking news.

The beast tide had broken out!

As a direct affiliate of the Immortal City, they had long been aware of the beast tide and had made considerable preparations.

Therefore, upon receiving the news, they immediately abandoned their ancestral land, boarding a flying ship under the lead of the Grand Elder, retreating to White Cloud Immortal City.

Traveling day and night, three Foundation Establishment Cultivators of the Yinn Family disregarded damage to their cultivation foundation, reaching the outskirts of White Cloud Immortal City in just two days.

By then, it was already the fourth day of the beast tide outbreak.

However, just when they thought they were safe, a massive roar from behind startled them.

Only to see an overwhelming swarm of demon beasts rushing toward them from dozens of miles away.

The Yinn Family cultivators were taken aback and almost lost control of their flying ship.

Faced with such a threat, the Yinn Family Grand Elder made a decisive decision, employing a secret technique to forcefully boost their mana.

Racing quickly towards White Cloud Immortal City.

However, just when they were merely ten miles from the Immortal City, a despairing scene unfolded before them.

The massive gates of White Cloud Immortal City slowly closed, and an enormous light screen covering a hundred miles shrouded the city.

They couldn’t get in!

...

There were indeed Yinn Family cultivators atop the city walls.

Among them, the highest cultivation belonged to Yinn Family’s Third Elder, Yinn Kaiyuan, an Early-Stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator, serving as an elder in the Miscellaneous Affairs Hall of the Immortal City.

Currently assigned under Zuo Qifan’s command.

After the beast tide outbreak, Yinn Kaiyuan had sent the disciples to the family to relay the information.

For several days, he hadn’t seen the family’s spiritual boat, causing him great worry.

Now, a sigh of relief escaped him.

Just when he thought the family was safe, he noticed that Zuo Qifan did not open the array, seemingly not intending to let Yinn Family cultivators in.

If they couldn’t retreat into the city, the Yinn Family cultivators on the spiritual boat faced certain doom, for it was carrying two-thirds of the Yinn Family’s members!

Thinking of this, the Third Elder came beside Zuo Qifan, bowing deeply in a desperate plea:

”Elder Zuo, please open the array and let my Yinn Family cultivators in, Kaiyuan would be immensely grateful!”

Ding Jiehe, standing next to Zuo Qifan, glanced at Yinn Kaiyuan and then at the beast tide still dozens of miles away,

He thus pleaded for leniency:

”Senior brother, Huiyan Peak’s Yinn Family is the family of our sixth senior brother, and also a direct affiliate of the Immortal City. Seeing as the demon beasts are still dozens of miles away, why not let them in?”

Hearing this, Yinn Family’s Third Elder sent a grateful look toward Ding Jiehe, then looked at Zuo Qifan with anticipatory hope.

Upon hearing this, Zuo Qifan shook his head, explaining:

”It’s too close. Among this beast tide, there must be Tier Three Great Demons, akin to True Pill Cultivators!”

”Opening the array now, if a Great Demon sneaks in, the Immortal City will fall without a fight.”

”Without the city’s defenses, how can we face the overwhelming demon beasts?”

”At a time like this, even if it’s the family of the sixth senior brother himself outside, I absolutely wouldn’t open the array to let them in!”

”They have to find their own way out!”

Upon hearing this, Ding Jiehe nodded, no longer speaking.

But Yinn Kaiyuan was in utter panic, bowing and pleading:

”Elder Yinn, two-thirds of our Yinn Family are on the spiritual boat, I implore Elder to consider our Yinn Family’s dedication and many years of service to the Immortal City, and let us in!”

Zuo Qifan turned and looked at Yinn Family’s Third Elder coldly, and coolly said:

”They should go around the city, towards the back, perhaps there’s still a chance for survival!”

”The safety of the Immortal City is paramount; say no more!”

Hearing this, Yinn Kaiyuan stood up immediately, his face showing a venomous expression, he fiercely retorted:

”Zuo Qifan, you are being arbitrary, our Yinn family’s patriarch was also a direct disciple of Master White Cloud, and our Yinn Family is a direct affiliate of the Immortal City. You’re allowing our family to be exterminated, what are your intentions!”

”Quickly, take him away!” Seeing this, Ding Jiehe quickly instructed several cultivators behind to take Yinn Kaiyuan away.

Then he turned to Zuo Qifan:

”Senior brother, Elder Yinn is just concerned about his family, momentarily losing his reason, you don’t take it to heart.”

At this moment, the Yinn Family’s flying boat reached below the west city gate.

Seeing no sign of the array being opened,

Yinn Family’s Grand Elder knelt, sobbing:

”Brother Zuo, two-thirds of my Yinn Family’s disciples are here, I implore you to consider our Yinn Family’s patriarch, and our years of service to the Immortal City, let us in!”

”The beast tide is still dozens of miles away; they won’t reach us!”

Zuo Qifan glanced at him, said nothing, and coldly shook his head.

”Our Yinn Family is also a direct affiliate of the Immortal City; you cannot treat us this way!” Yinn Family’s Grand Elder, with his hair completely white, looked utterly wretched and pitiful under these circumstances.

Zuo Qifan did not reply, instead gazing into the distant beast tide with a solemn expression.

”Daoist Yinn, there are Tier Three Great Demons amidst the beast tide. The Immortal City cannot risk opening for you; you must hurry around the city and flee backward, maybe there’s still a chance of survival!”

At this moment, unwilling to see the Yinn Family fall prey to demon beasts, Ding Jiehe spoke up.

Upon hearing this, the Yinn Family’s Grand Elder stood up, cast a cold glance at Zuo Qifan, then immediately turned the direction, steering the flying ship around the city.

At this very moment, a sudden change occurred.

A gigantic claw shot out from the ground beneath the flying ship like a yellow lightning bolt, slashing towards the flying ship.
