Chapter 1591: Chapter 366: Liu Futong’s Crisis and Secret Dealings

”Quickly, quickly, if Caidie’s brother finds out you’re back, he’ll be over the moon. You don’t know, ever since he became the Sect Hierarch, he’s been so gloomy and unhappy. Seeing him with a troubled look makes me worried sick...”

Seeing Liu Caidie, Han Ling’er couldn’t stop talking like two best friends reunited.

She chatted non-stop all the way, recounting everything about the Zoroastrian Sect.

Chen Jie, pretending to be an old servant, followed closely behind, listening to almost everything about the current state of the Zoroastrian Sect.

The Zoroastrian Sect is currently a tangled mess, and Han Lin’er’s position as Sect Hierarch has been largely nullified by Du Zundao and Mr. Guan, with all decrees bypassed and decided by the two Dharma Kings.

Han Lin’er is extremely frustrated by this, as he has always wanted to become a capable Monarch.

But ultimately, he simply couldn’t achieve that; nobody paid attention to the young Sect Hierarch.

Originally, Liu Futong could help Han Lin’er maintain some dignity and allow him to handle some of the daily affairs of the Sect and make decisions on routine operations.

However, not long ago, Liu Futong suddenly disappeared, with Mr. Guan and Du Zundao explaining he went into seclusion.

Han Lin’er was skeptical and wanted to see Liu Futong, but upon arriving at the doorstep, he found heavy guard arrangements forbidding him access to Liu Futong’s residence.

Saying that the Venerable was secluded, researching matters regarding the very survival of the Zoroastrian Sect, and must not be disturbed under any circumstances.

Therefore, Han Lin’er was directly turned away and is now bitterly lamenting his miserable fate there.

Listening to Han Ling’er’s description of the situation, Chen Jie furrowed his brow, increasingly suspecting Liu Futong might have encountered something major, contrary to the casual explanation of him being in seclusion researching crucial issues.

Thinking this, Chen Jie couldn’t help but muse on the convoluted nature within the Zoroastrian Sect.

Thinking this, Liu Caidie said, ”There are guards outside my grandfather’s place, and even Lin’er brother can’t go in?”

Han Ling’er nodded. Liu Caidie said, ”Why don’t we try to see my grandfather?”

Han Ling’er said, ”It’s no use, we can’t get in.”

Liu Caidie: ”Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Besides, if my grandfather is really in trouble, we can help, can’t we?”

Han Ling’er, hesitating after hearing Liu Caidie’s words, eventually said, ”Well, okay then.”

They then turned to head in another direction, with Han Ling’er glancing back along the way, saying, ”Ugly, lame old man, where did you find him?”

Liu Caidie turned back to look at Chen Jiusi, who remained silent, dragging his ’lame leg’ behind them. Seeing him like this, Liu Caidie chuckled, ”Hehe, his name is Zhao Fu, I picked him up along the way. If he wasn’t so ugly and lame, I wouldn’t have taken him in!”

Han Ling’er was taken aback and said, ”Ah, Caidie, you picked him up along the way? This? Now is a critical time, the sect should not be admitting strangers.”

Liu Caidie said, ”Don’t worry, don’t worry, looking at him being so ugly and lame, how could he be a threat to the Holy Sect? No need to worry.”

Liu Caidie repeatedly emphasized ”ugly and lame,” as if venting some inexplicable grievance, while Chen Jie knew she was undoubtedly retaliating for his kidnapping her back in Lantian County. This girl with a childish nature has a strong sense of revenge, constantly emphasizing ”ugly and lame,” but this retaliation holds no malice.

Chen Jie could tolerate it.

Han Ling’er pondered Liu Caidie’s words for a moment, then nodded in agreement. Indeed, such an ugly and lame guy couldn’t possibly pose a threat to them; she was undoubtedly overthinking.

”That makes sense.”

Han Ling’er, being straightforward, immediately conceded Liu Caidie’s point.

Following this, the two arrived at a discreet and solitary courtyard, the residence of one of the two Venerables of the Zoroastrian Sect, Yushan Monk Liu Futong.

The courtyard, built with green bricks and tiles, looked quite charming, akin to an ordinary scholarly home.

However, the place was guarded, and as Han Ling’er and others approached, the guards immediately came forward, saying, ”Saintess.”

Han Ling’er pointed at Liu Caidie and said, ”This is Liu Caidie, Miss Liu, you all recognize her, right?”

The guard responded, ”Are you the Venerable Liu’s granddaughter?”

Han Ling’er promptly replied, ”Yes, indeed the Venerable’s granddaughter. She wishes to see the Venerable, so open the courtyard gate, please.”

Upon these words, the guard said, ”I’m afraid that won’t be possible. Without the consent of the Dharma Kings, no one can enter this courtyard.”

”How dare you! Does Caidie need the Dharma Kings’ approval to see her grandfather? Open the gate quickly, or don’t blame us for getting angry.”

”Saintess, it’s not our decision, but we cannot disobey the Dharma Kings’ orders. Please, Saintess and Miss Liu, depart.”

The guard’s resolute attitude infuriated Han Ling’er.

With a furious shout, Han Ling’er declared, ”Will you let us or won’t you. If you refuse, I’ll force my way in!”

Following these words, the guard immediately said, ”Saintess, you are a Saintess of the sect, you must not do something unwise; otherwise, you will bring sorrow to your dear ones and joy to your foes, which would be terrible.”

”Are you threatening me!”

Han Ling’er’s eyes sharpened, and she shouted, ”Are you hiding something? If you have nothing to hide, why do you fear us entering and inspecting? Open the gate immediately, or you’ll surely pay the price today.”

Upon hearing this, the guard shouted, ”Form ranks!”

”Oh ho, you really want to fight me, huh!”
