The Versatile Master Artist

”Always pretending to be calm and collected, did you really think you could maintain that facade?”

The secretary chuckled inwardly.

”Oh? Young man, what do you need my help with?” Chen Shenglin raised an eyebrow.

”I need a government approval.” Gu Weijing said.

Wow! He really dares to ask for that.

The secretary was initially startled, then sneered.

No wonder he wanted to bring it up on the spot, afraid the boss would back out, his ambition was even bigger than anticipated.

”Government approval? Oh, does your family run factories, or are you in real estate?” Chen Shenglin stared at Gu Weijing intently, slowly shaking his head: ”Don’t take me for a god, there are some things even I can’t do.”

”And young man, you’ve only given me a quick sketch with a pen, yet you want to ask for such a big deal, isn’t that a bit greedy?”

Chen Shenglin’s expression remained gentle, but his tone had turned cold.

He didn’t like people who were constantly pushing boundaries.

”I’m not greedily seeking some big real estate approval from you, what I want is just a permit for electrification modernization. There are still no modern facilities here.”

Gu Weijing lightly stamped his foot, pointing to the candlestick by the window: ”I want Good Fortune Orphanage to connect to Yangon’s city power grid, but I’ve hit a roadblock and can’t get the renovation approval permit.”

Ever since the first advance payment of thirty-six thousand dollars from the Scholastic Group was deposited into Gu Weijing’s account, his wallet had a truly significant sum.

If you consider the entire contract price, the total easily exceeds one hundred thousand dollars.

With money in hand, how to spend it became a new problem.

Unlike before, when he took sporadic online orders earning a few hundred dollars here and there, spending this money solely on daily necessities seemed too much, and also a bit wasteful.

Even at the official exchange rate, it’s two hundred million Myanmar Kyat, enough to fully modernize the orphanage, providing electricity, running water, and other essential facilities.

Although Yangon enjoys plenty of sunshine, the orphanage entirely relies on photovoltaic solar power, which is unstable. The best solution is still to connect to the city power grid.

Gu Weijing originally thought that with money, all problems would be solved.

However, the weekend after he expressed intent to the local government, he was given a reality check.

The bureaucracy in Yangon couldn’t exactly be called clean.

This Sunday, after the female director visited the local electricity bureau, hearing that the orphanage might have money, various approval departments began preparing to extort.

Gu Weijing consulted Brother Dyson about this issue.

Brother Dyson hesitated for a moment, indicating that handling this matter wasn’t difficult, but he really didn’t recommend them coming to him for help.

Myanmar isn’t within Meiquan Palace Office’s traditional business scope, they only have one office in Yangon.

He had connections with high-level people, but this matter, well, it’s neither too small nor too big.

Merely having dinner with a deputy mayor in charge of this area in Yangon, ignoring hidden costs, just some direct expenses could end up costing more than the bribery asked by the small leaders in the electricity bureau.

Dyson calculated and quoted a price of thirty thousand dollars.

He said this was already giving a cost price considering Gu Weijing was a client, and if Gu Weijing was willing to pay, Dyson could quickly take care of all the formalities for him.

He could even get away with demolishing the orphanage without anyone raising an issue.

Gu Weijing was very hesitant.

Firstly, he wasn’t sure if the bribe counted as a ”necessary charitable expense” registered in the system.

Even if it did, just the idea of this was really quite disgusting.
