Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Lü Yang Is a Decent Person After All

As Arhat Fulong perished and a wisp of his soul went to be reincarnated, his disintegrating Golden Body left behind a perfectly round, glittering golden Elixir Pill.

The next second, the Elixir Pill was about to break through the void and fly away.

”Hm? Trying to run?”

Lü Yang was quick to react. With a swift grab, he snatched the golden Elixir Pill from the air. ”This is... a Relic? Fellow Daoist Fulong, you’re too kind!”

Lü Yang’s eyes lit up at the sight, as he clearly recognized this unique treasure of Monks. It was a Foundation Establishment Helper, and its effects were top-notch whether used to aid in Foundation Establishment or for Artifact Refining. His Qi-eating Insect had recently hit a growth bottleneck, and this would be the perfect high-quality supplement for it.

At this thought, he immediately pocketed the Relic.

He then searched the rest of the area, but finding nothing else of value, he shook his head in disappointment. He set the Cave Mansion ablaze with a flick of his hand and then floated away.

...

「Sea of Clouds, Heaven Mending Peak.」

”Panlong... is dead after all. And Lü Yang took the Relic.”

The Master of Heaven Mending Peak gazed into the distance, a trace of regret in his eyes. Then he turned to look in the direction of Luofeng Mountain, his expression turning to one of deep apprehension.

In just fifty years, Lü Yang’s name had spread throughout almost the entire Stain Sect.

Almost every disciple knew their Sect had a rare old turtle who had holed up in the Sect for fifty long years just to outlive a great enemy.

Even some of the Perfected Persons looked down on Lü Yang.

Only the Master of Heaven Mending Peak, who knew the real story, was extremely wary of Lü Yang. He also knew that Lü Yang had narrowly avoided a life-and-death calamity.

Perhaps the other Perfected Persons thought that even if Lü Yang had left the Stain Sect, Arhat Fulong wouldn’t have been able to do anything to him as long as he focused on escaping. However, the Master of Heaven Mending Peak understood that Arhat Fulong’s hatred for Lü Yang ran bone-deep and that he had prepared many specific countermeasures just to eliminate him.

If Lü Yang had truly been careless and left the Stain Sect alone, then even if he hadn’t died, he would have suffered a grievous injury that would have taken at least a century to heal. Compared to that, what were fifty years?

’This man must not be offended!’

The Master of Heaven Mending Peak sighed. The only saving grace was that he had acted from the shadows both times, so theoretically, Lü Yang shouldn’t have discovered anything.

As for the Wind-Resistant Pills, losing three of them pained the Master of Heaven Mending Peak greatly. And because of Lü Yang, he hadn’t even managed to obtain the Golden Body Relic left after Fulong’s death. But at the very least, Fulong and his daughter, Chen Shuqian, had been able to cultivate once, and Chen Shuqian had now successfully mastered the Sixfold Phoenix Nirvana.

Meanwhile, his son Chen Xin’an’s progress was also very gratifying.

’Before, with just one person at Foundation Establishment, I would have dared to take the gamble. But now that I’m lacking in both Merit and Fortune, one is no longer enough...’

At this thought, another pang of heartache struck the Master of Heaven Mending Peak.

His trip to the Skull Mountains had been a complete disaster. Not only did he fail to gain anything, but he also ended up utterly humiliated.

What frustrated him even more was that Fulong’s Relic was now in Lü Yang’s hands. To help his children, Chen Xin’an and Chen Shuqian, break through and increase their chances of reaching Foundation Establishment, he now had to go to Lü Yang and spend a fortune to buy the Relic back. He would end up paying for the same item three times! It was an absolutely crippling loss.

The Master of Heaven Mending Peak took a deep breath, suppressing all his negative emotions. ’Forget it, forget it... As long as I can break through to the Late Stage, it will all be worth it.’

With this thought, he immediately summoned a Flying Light and flew toward Luofeng Mountain.

By the time he reached Luofeng Mountain, his face was already beaming with a warm smile. He announced in a resonant voice, ”Is Fellow Daoist Lü present? Chen Taihe of Heaven Mending Peak has come to visit.”

The next second, Lü Yang’s figure appeared atop Luofeng Mountain.

He too wore a brilliant smile. Stepping aside to welcome him, he cupped his hands and said, ”Senior, I apologize for not coming out further to greet you. Please, come into the peak for a talk.”

”Of course! Of course!”

The Master of Heaven Mending Peak immediately steered his Flying Light down. The two entered the main hall and sat facing each other. Without wasting any words, the Master of Heaven Mending Peak said bluntly:

”Fellow Daoist Lü, have you killed that Fulong?”

”That’s right.”

Lü Yang didn’t hide it. He hadn’t obscured the Karma Links when he acted, so any Foundation-Stage Cultivator could simply pinch their fingers and divine the whole story.

The Master of Heaven Mending Peak knew even more of the details. Seeing Lü Yang’s admission, he said cautiously, ”I’ve heard... that Arhats from the West transform into a Golden Body Relic upon death to aid their reincarnation. Now that Fulong has suffered a heavenly punishment and has no hope of reincarnation, that Relic should be in your hands, shouldn’t it, Daoist?”

Hearing this, Lü Yang raised an eyebrow. ”It is indeed in my hands.”

The next second, he took out a glittering golden Elixir Pill and placed it on the table. The Master of Heaven Mending Peak’s eyes narrowed at the sight as he concealed his avarice.

”...I would like to trade for this item, Daoist.”

At this point, a gentle expression appeared on the Master of Heaven Mending Peak’s face. ”To be honest with you, my son, Xin’an, is currently at the critical point of breaking through to Foundation Establishment.”

”As his father, it is my duty to lend him a hand.”

Lü Yang listened with a half-smile on his face.

’Really? I don’t believe you.’

This expression made the Master of Heaven Mending Peak a little awkward. He knew Lü Yang wouldn’t release the hawk until he saw the rabbit, so he could only sigh. ”What do you want, Daoist?”

Lü Yang smiled faintly. ”Senior, what do you have?”

’Bastard!’ the Master of Heaven Mending Peak cursed inwardly, then directly played his trump card. ”I have a Secret Technique I can trade with you, Daoist. It will be useful to you as well.”

With that, he took out a Jade Scroll and placed it on the table.

Lü Yang swept his Divine Sense over it and an astonished look appeared on his face. Although the contents of the Secret Technique in the Jade Scroll were incomplete, he could still deduce its effects.

It was actually a Substitution Technique.

’At the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment, one suffers the Fierce Bi Feng and has a lifespan of three hundred years... However, every step forward within the Foundation Establishment Realm will trigger a rejection from the realm itself.’

’When breaking through from the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment to the Mid-phase, one must accommodate the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches to forge an Innate Divine Technique. This process is extremely perilous. The Foundation Establishment Realm will sense this and send down a raging fire named [Yin]. This Yin Fire erupts from the Yongquan acupoint, shoots straight through to the Niwan Palace, and incinerates the internal organs.’

This was both an opportunity and a crisis.

If one could endure it, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches tempered by the [Yin Fire] would completely transform into the Innate Divine Technique, thereafter becoming inseparable from the Perfected Person’s Soul.

Fail to endure, and one would be reduced to a puff of ash.

Similarly, when breaking through from the Mid-phase to the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment, the Foundation Establishment Realm would send down [Celestial Thunder]. Only by surviving it could one become a Great Trueman at the Late Stage.

Fail, and one’s body and Dao would likewise be obliterated.

As for breaking through from the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment to Foundation Establishment Perfection, the calamity one faced was different yet again... Upon reaching that stage, one could attempt the process of Seeking Gold.

And the Master of Heaven Mending Peak’s Secret Technique was one specifically designed to resist these calamities.

’Use one’s own children as a medium to transfer the karmic links of the calamity. They bear the cause and endure the tribulation, while you reap the effect and enjoy the post-tribulation transformation...’

In an instant, Lü Yang understood the Master of Heaven Mending Peak’s plan.

He wanted to use this Secret Technique, leveraging his children Chen Shuqian and Chen Xin’an, to help him resist the [Celestial Thunder] and charge into the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment!

’No wonder...’

At this thought, a strange expression suddenly appeared on Lü Yang’s face.

The reason was simple: Chen Xin’an was a fake!

In this life, he had killed the real Chen Xin’an long ago. The one still alive was the Banner Spirit, merely cloaked in the real Chen Xin’an’s karmic links!

In that case, if the Master of Heaven Mending Peak were to use this Secret Technique to transfer the calamity to Chen Xin’an, and at that exact moment, he suddenly stripped away the real Chen Xin’an’s karmic links and recalled the Banner Spirit... the results would be spectacular!

At this thought, an incredibly sincere smile blossomed on Lü Yang’s face. ”Since Senior is doing this for his children, how could this junior refuse?”

With that said, he pushed the Relic directly across the table.

Seeing this, the Master of Heaven Mending Peak, who had expected to pay a heavy price, was stunned. He immediately cupped his hands gratefully. ”Then, many thanks, Daoist...”

’I never would have thought Lü Yang was actually a decent guy!’

As he felt this rush of emotion, the Master of Heaven Mending Peak couldn’t help but feel excited. He planned to give the Relic to Chen Xin’an immediately upon his return and have him break through to Foundation Establishment as soon as possible!
