Serpent Ancestor

Xu Hei had limited knowledge, but he had read some ancient texts.

In ancient times, there were deities who could enlighten even stubborn stones, turning them into spirits. So, what’s the big deal about enlightening a demonic beast?

Indeed, there were still deities in this world.

”The Mountain God wants me to find him a physical body, young and strong, and with some cultivation. I have to choose carefully. Only if he is satisfied will he bless my cultivation.”

Xu Hei thought to himself, planning to complete this task seriously.

But capturing a living body might cause trouble, so Xu Hei decided to follow the example of that black dog and capture a dead one.

Just now, he had passed by a graveyard. He decided to try his luck there first.

…………

At this moment, the so-called Mountain God was hiding in the tribute of a dead rat, his primordial spirit rapidly dissipating.

”Damn beast, how did I end up with such a thing?”He was not a Mountain God but a demonic cultivator who had fled here two hundred years ago, the Heavenly Demon Scattered Person.

His primordial spirit had been sealed in the Mountain God statue, enjoying the villagers’ worship and surviving on that sliver of faith. However, because his power was too sinister, this place frequently experienced ghostly phenomena, and over time, the Mountain God Temple was abandoned.

However, two hundred years of recuperation had allowed his primordial spirit to recover slightly, giving him the ability to perform body snatching.

Last year, he saw a Human Elixir and a Taoist fleeing into the Mountain God Temple and was about to perform the body-snatching technique when Xu Hei suddenly swallowed them.

Along with a sliver of his primordial spirit, Xu Hei had swallowed it into his stomach.

The Heavenly Demon Scattered Person’s primordial spirit was immensely powerful. Just a tiny bit was enough to enlighten a demonic beast.

That’s why Xu Hei had become enlightened!

The second time, the young lady of the Chen Family and an assassin fled into the Mountain God Temple, and he attempted body snatching again.

This time, Xu Hei directly killed them!

Although he didn’t swallow them, the corpse was later eaten by a wild dog, which also became enlightened.

Both attempts at body snatching ended in failure, and he lost a sliver of his primordial spirit each time.

This time was the third attempt, and he didn’t act rashly.

He only flew out to perform body snatching on Mu Lei when the statue he was hiding in was blown up.

As a result... Xu Hei burned him to ashes!

The Heavenly Demon Scattered Person was on the verge of going mad. He had never suffered such a huge loss, and his hatred for Xu Hei was beyond words.

Yet Xu Hei was completely unaware, still smugly thinking he was showing great respect to the Mountain God.

”Just wait, once I get a physical body, I’ll make sure you pay!”

The Heavenly Demon Scattered Person was seething with rage.

…………

Outside Chen Family Town, in the graveyard.

Xu Hei arrived at the graveyard, spreading his Divine Sense to scan the graves, searching for corpses.

To his disappointment, all the corpses had turned into skeletons. Such bodies were obviously unqualified; they had to be freshly buried at the very least.

Some graves showed signs of being dug up, with the corpses inside missing, clearly stolen by some creature.

Xu Hei thought of that big black dog.

”The Mountain God only gave me half an hour. I need to hurry.”

Xu Hei was getting anxious; he just wanted to complete the task.

But where could he find a young, strong body with cultivation?

Suddenly, Xu Hei seemed to sense something. He quickly used the Earth Escape Technique, burrowing underground, retracting his Divine Sense and gaze.

Xu Hei remained motionless, not daring to release a hint of killing intent, relying solely on his hearing.

In the distance, he heard faint sounds of digging. Judging by the subtle noise, it wasn’t a human but a four-legged creature, clearly a dog.

The dog was digging at a grave, making noises.

Xu Hei immediately knew it was that black dog digging up graves again.

”Heh, this time I didn’t release my Divine Sense or even glance at you. I don’t believe you can escape again!”

Xu Hei knew the other party was highly perceptive, but he was prepared this time. Finally, he would catch it.

”Go!”

Without hesitation, Xu Hei rushed towards the target, fully utilizing the Earth Escape Technique.

As Xu Hei moved, the big black dog digging the grave finally sensed danger.

It tried to escape, but it was too late.

”Awooo!”

A dog’s wail echoed as Xu Hei emerged from the ground, rushing a hundred meters away, capturing the dog on the spot outside the grave.

As expected, it was the enlightened big black dog.

At this moment, the black dog’s eyes turned blood-red, extremely sinister, with dark energy emanating from its head. It had clearly eaten many corpses and was now filled with resentment.

”Awooo!”

The black dog tried to bite Xu Hei, but Xu Hei’s cultivation was far superior. With a strong grip, cracking sounds echoed, and the black dog wailed continuously.

”Spare me, spare me!” the black dog pleaded in a human voice.

Xu Hei ignored it, releasing the Beast Control Ring and placing it around its neck.

The black dog immediately became docile.

Xu Hei stopped and examined the black dog.

After a careful look, his eyes lit up.

”He wants a physical body, strong, young, handsome, with cultivation...”

The more Xu Hei looked at the black dog, the more he felt it met the requirements.

This aura, this body, was simply perfect!

Almost the most perfect body in Xu Hei’s mind, second only to his own.

Xu Hei immediately grabbed the black dog and hurried towards the Mountain God Temple.

”What are you doing? What are you doing?”

The black dog cried out, sensing something ominous, struggling continuously, but it was futile against the superior magical treasure.

Moments later, Xu Hei returned to the ruins of the Mountain God Temple.

He entered the pit in the ruins, placing the black dog down, excitedly saying, ”Mountain God, I’ve found the body you wanted! Look, it absolutely meets your requirements!”

With the allotted time almost up, Xu Hei had completed the task perfectly, feeling pleased with himself.

But at this moment, the Heavenly Demon Scattered Person was on the verge of collapse.

This damn thing is the body you found? A dog?

Are you kidding me? You want me to snatch a dog’s body?

He had already lowered his expectations of Xu Hei’s intelligence, yet he had still overestimated him.

He forgot to specify the condition: human.

”You bastard, why don’t you just die! Die!” the Heavenly Demon Scattered Person roared in anger.

Xu Hei looked confused. What did he do wrong? He had completed the task as required!

The Heavenly Demon Scattered Person was speechless.

This Xu Hei, cautious and perceptive in his actions, why was he so clueless in this matter?

Now, his primordial spirit was showing signs of disintegration after leaving the statue. If he didn’t perform body snatching soon, he might have to sleep for another few hundred years.

At this moment, the Heavenly Demon Scattered Person suddenly paused, looking at the big black dog in surprise.

”A Fiendish Demon Body? Just like my physique back then. Is this a coincidence?”

The Heavenly Demon Scattered Person examined the big black dog closely, growing more astonished.

After a long hesitation, he finally sighed.

A dog is a dog, at least it has my old physique. It’s better than my soul dissipating.

At worst, once my cultivation recovers, I’ll find a human to snatch later.

Immediately, his primordial spirit flew out of the rat’s body, flashing into the big black dog’s forehead.

The big black dog instantly stiffened, no longer moving, its blood-red eyes gradually dimming.

The primordial spirit slowly fused with the physical body. This time, without interference, the process was surprisingly smooth, quickly merging into one.

Even the Heavenly Demon Scattered Person himself was surprised by the speed of the fusion.

Under the powerful primordial spirit’s force, the Beast Control Ring on its neck flew off.

Xu Hei quickly caught the Beast Control Ring, turning to look at the dog.

”Mountain God, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now?”

Xu Hei felt something was off and planned to leave early.
