Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 103: Chapter 92: Challenging Human Nature

”Vice President, your daughter has arrived, along with four others.”

In a luxuriously decorated office, a woman dressed in business attire who looked like a secretary spoke to a middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man seemed to be in his early forties, but his temples were streaked with silver. He had a beard, medium build, and wore a gray, vintage Zhongshan suit. He rubbed his eyes, looking somewhat fatigued, yet his gaze was as sharp as an eagle’s.

”They’ve arrived, have they? Let them in then.”

Dong Xiuxian frowned slightly, his originally cultured appearance suddenly carrying an air of authority without anger.

He knew his daughter had recently joined a Martial Arts Club, and the president of that club was the recently famous Lin Feng.

Although he was somewhat curious about Lin Feng, Dong Xiuxian didn’t take a high school student’s Martial Arts Club seriously, thinking of it only as his daughter playing house, a mere jest.

What truly intrigued him was his daughter using his connections at the Demon Spirit Master Association to collect Purple-winged Spirit Insects in large quantities recently.

In just one week, she collected over three million New Coins worth of Purple-winged Spirit Insects.

This made it difficult to find even a trace of Purple-winged Spirit Insects in pharmacies across Jiang City, with their original price of a few dozen skyrocketing to eight hundred New Coins, still hard to buy.

There were now rumors in the market, with some saying Purple-winged Spirit Insects could be used in medicine and even to nourish kidneys.

Dong Xiuxian was highly curious, as Purple-winged Spirit Insects were used as a field anesthetic. What other effects could they possibly have, and why was there a need to collect them in large amounts? Three million New Coins was not something to be trifled with.

He even asked his daughter specifically, but she was vague, saying it was a task given by the president, and she didn’t know the special effects of the Purple-winged Spirit Insects either.

”Meeting me, this Lin Feng is truly interesting.” Dong Xiuxian showed a hint of a smile.

Soon, he saw his daughter’s group, but the first to catch his attention was not Lin Feng, but Yun Kai.

As the Vice President of the Demon Spirit Master Association, very few things in Jiang City were unknown to him.

He had heard about the recent changes in the Yun family, and it was said that this Yun Kai had become the darling of the family. The exact reason was unknown, but he could guess somewhat.

For a gradually declining Extraordinary Race, for one member to be so highly regarded, it was hard to imagine any other reason besides talent.

Dong Xiuxian’s gaze lingered on Yun Kai’s face for a few seconds; this young man’s appearance was likely not simple.

Very quickly, Dong Xiuxian shifted his gaze to Lin Feng.

He was familiar with this young genius, recently often featured on television, known as North Linfeng alongside South Yeqiu.

What surprised him was that even Yun Kai obediently stayed behind Lin Feng, and it was clear that Lin Feng led this five-person team, while the big-headed youth and the delicate-looking boy did not catch his attention.

Dong Xiuxian didn’t speak; instead, he curiously observed the five of them.

”Interesting.”

Soon, Dong Xiuxian smirked.

Under his gaze, the others clearly showed some signs of unease, with Yang Fan and Gao Hai even trembling slightly. Even Yun Kai didn’t dare to meet his gaze, except for Lin Feng, who met his eyes indifferently and even smiled slightly.

”Lin Feng?”

The secretary beside him was also surprised. As the Vice President of the Demon Spirit Master Association, Dong Xiuxian was a Ninth Grade Martial Artist, having refined a Ninth Grade Demon Spirit, and in Jiang City, few could compare to him apart from the Guardians.

Even if he didn’t deliberately project his aura, normal people wouldn’t dare meet Dong Xiuxian’s gaze directly and would subconsciously avoid it, already weakening their momentum. Yet this sixteen-year-old boy was matching the Vice President in aura.

”You must be Lin Feng, the one daring to reject the three major clubs. Indeed extraordinary.”

Dong Xiuxian said with a smile, dissipating the originally tense atmosphere.

”Dad, don’t scare my classmates.” Dong Yunan pouted, coming in front of Dong Xiuxian and clinging to his arm, playfully acting spoiled.

”Haha, how could I.”

Dong Xiuxian pinched his daughter’s cheek lovingly.

”You’re all young, so I won’t serve tea. Xiao Ling, bring a few bottles of drinks.” Dong Xiuxian first said to the secretary, then pointed to the sofa, ”Have a seat, don’t be restrained.”

”Thank you.”

After Lin Feng sat down, Yun Kai and the other two also took their seats.

”Xiao Ling, you may leave. I wish to have a word with Yunan’s classmates. Lin Feng, I hear from Yunan that you wish to see me for something?”

Dong Xiuxian asked Lin Feng.

In fact, he had already guessed the answer, surely it was something to do with the Purple-winged Spirit Insects. It was also why he used his aura to try to unnerve Lin Feng’s group, but to his surprise, Lin Feng remained unaffected.

”Yes, I want to propose a deal with Chairman Dong.” Lin Feng responded with a smile.

”Oh, a deal? What qualifies you to make a deal with me?”

Dong Xiuxian shook his head amusedly, always under the impression that Lin Feng was seeking his assistance. It seemed that was not the case.

A high schooler wanting to make a deal with him was indeed amusing.

As for Lin Feng addressing him as Chairman Dong, it was clear that Lin Feng didn’t want personal feelings involved.

”Dad, this is a big business, don’t laugh, be serious.”

Dong Yunan complained, which made Dong Xiuxian gradually curb his smile. It was clear he adored his daughter, but his eyes still conveyed an air of not taking Lin Feng seriously.

”Chairman Dong, if you keep laughing, this business worth 3 billion New Coins might be missed by you.” Lin Feng said flatly.

”3 billion?”

Dong Xiuxian’s eyes widened in surprise. He unconsciously adjusted his posture, no longer appearing indifferent.

billion was indeed a major deal; he initially thought it was at most tens of millions to a billion in profit, far exceeding his expectations.

”Just with the Purple-winged Spirit Insects?” Dong Xiuxian asked.

Lin Feng nodded and said, ”Just with the Purple-winged Spirit Insects!”

Dong Xiuxian remained silent for a while before speaking, ”What special effects do the Purple-winged Spirit Insects have?”

”I can’t say that just yet!”

”If you don’t tell me, how can we collaborate?”

”I believe many would still be willing to collaborate with me without me saying anything.” Lin Feng smiled.

Dong Xiuxian looked at Lin Feng, his gaze gradually fiercer, but Lin Feng remained unfazed, completely at ease.

”Then at least tell me the value of a single Purple-winged Spirit Insect? What is your collaboration proposal?”

Dong Xiuxian asked somewhat helplessly.

Even as a Ninth Grade Demon Spirit Master and the Vice President of the Demon Spirit Master Association, 3 billion was a significant sum for him. He had spent almost all his assets on his daughter’s Demon Spirit and was now in dire need of funds.

If it were just an ordinary teenager, he had plenty of ways to make them reveal it willingly.

But Lin Feng was no ordinary person; he was a genius under the protection of Blue Moon, with a limitless future. The saying, ”Do not look down on a young man’s poverty,” had its truth.

Who knew what heights this youngster might reach in decades? Coupled with the half-beastman, this Martial Arts Club, though insignificant now, could not be underestimated in the future. Additionally, Lin Feng was his daughter’s classmate, so he couldn’t exactly force Lin Feng to reveal it.

”What I can tell you is that in two months, the price of a single Purple-winged Spirit Insect will soar to over 100,000 New Coins.” Lin Feng said.

”100,000? Are you sure?” Dong Xiuxian’s heart skipped a beat, and he asked in a serious tone.

A Purple-winged Spirit Insect priced at a couple of dozen New Coins could rise to hundreds of times its value; though Jiang City experienced a shortage, other Base Cities and Otherworld spaces had many, and if handled properly, the profit could exceed 3 billion.

”I’ve invested all my money, do you think I’m sure or not.”

Lin Feng said calmly, ”If it weren’t for running out of money and lacking connections to handle it alone, I wouldn’t have sought collaboration.”

Dong Xiuxian nodded and asked, ”What’s your collaboration proposal?”

”Two options: one, I get half of the final profit; the other, I get 1 billion upfront, and I’ll directly tell you the Purple-winged Spirit Insect’s special value.” Lin Feng stated.

He actually leaned towards the second option, simple and straightforward.

No matter how gifted, Lin Feng was presently just a high school student, lacking power to control the transaction process, or truly knowing the exact profit margin. He didn’t trust Chairman Dong to be entirely honest; knowing this business was worth billions.

If things went south, it would be troublesome. Lin Feng didn’t want to challenge human nature.

At this moment, Yang Fan and the other two stayed silent, their hearts pounding. The intense negotiation had their blood boiling.

Dong Xiuxian tapped the table, after a moment, said, ”I’ll choose the second option. But, I need a couple of days to get you the money.”

”Alright, I’ll give Yunan my account number. Once the money’s transferred, I’ll inform you of the Purple-winged Spirit Insect’s special effects.” Lin Feng stood up, prepared to leave.

Dong Xiuxian didn’t attempt to stop him; with his stature in Jiang City, he wasn’t worried Lin Feng would dare play any tricks.

Additionally, a youth as renowned as Ye Qiu was worth much more than 1 billion New Coins.
