I Only Summon Villainesses

Right from this center, several types of light flailed out before I could even take any action.

Red, blue, green, white, purple, all of them mixed together and formed a blinding light.

As that light exploded outward was when I realized the intensity of that warning. There was nothing I could do to survive the immense, undulating heat of the light.

First I wrapped white flames around myself and increased the heat to the maximum, so that it would at least fight the wicked wave of heat that rolled from the light. Whether or not that strategy had worked, I could not even tell. All I knew was the fact that I had to run.

I employed Feather Steps, and also reinforced my legs with command.

I couldn’t increase my speed beyond what my body was capable of even with [Warlord’s Command].

So that brought little result. I ran.

But it was not enough. I used Feather Steps several times.

But it was not enough.

The light flooded every area, every corner with its vicious heat, and evaporated every single thing. The trees were not just melting and turning into ashes as the light washed through them; they were being unmade on a molecular level, and ceasing to exist.

And with such fervency the light was flowing towards me like an outrageous flood. I wasn’t sure what angle to run to, that the flood of light wasn’t going to wash away.

In that moment though, I didn’t think about anything. The only thing in my mind was running. So my legs worked, I ran and ran and ran and didn’t feel like I was going to outrun the flood of burning light.

For one, it felt like the entire scape around me had changed.

I thought about calling upon my summon, but for one, Kassie was wounded, something was wrong with her and even now, I wasn’t sure about her state in my Soul Sanctum.

Wherever White Feather was, outside this flood of light, or even inside, she couldn’t reach me. If she could, I was sure that she would’ve already.

For this tiny, instantaneous, dangerous moment, I was alone.

’Tch...’

It sucked to be alone.

I grew up alone, and it was lonely. It was probably why I desired so much to be strong, saw my villainess as an opportunity to never be lonely again.

And because I never wanted to be lonely again, I wanted to grow strong enough to stand beside them. And even more absurdly, grow strong enough to protect them.

For every normal person it was different, this was an insane and absurd mentality to have as a Summoner, one that would undoubtedly lead you to your death.

But I had never once regretted the way I thought about them.

I love Kassie... that I would rather die than have her defend me with her life.

I love Maggie... even though she was a tough wall. She was used and discarded, and she’s really just like a broken little girl that needed to be shown how magical and awesome she could be.

And White Feather... White Feather was a lovely, lonely woman who has had to shoulder centuries of pain. I liberated her and I love her.

Although this was different, but I love Yuan too, she was the first ever person to show me more naive than I was. To show me respect, compassion, and not judge me.

And to Lira, I couldn’t apologize enough for how much of a bad person I was. Turning to such debauchery of the love she had for me, because I was too cowardly to grieve and justifying it with whatever.

It was a very shameful attempt. One that made me feel unworthy of even thinking about her.

’What are all these thoughts... now that I know I might die... am I looking for someone to forgive me?’

I was running still. Funnily, it felt like I had run through the entire forest and I was still not able to outrun the flood of light.

In fact, it had swallowed the whole of the forest now, and what was behind me was a gargantuan wall of light that was collapsing the earth and disintegrating it.

Everything I could do at that moment, I did.

I strengthened myself with Emperor’s Presence, used Warlord’s Command over and over again. I used Sanctified Immolation over the White Feather’s Cape.

But it was all for nought.

The light slammed into me from behind. And it was with a physical weight. I felt my spinal cord make a sickening sound and my back caved in.

At that point, even my legs could not keep up anymore, they gave out and my body crumbled against the searing soil, with flames cloaked over my body, I rolled downhill, my face and skin torn by the sharp protrusions on the ground, the stumps of trees, thorns, sharp branches, rocks.

Until the light consumed me.

It grabbed my hand first, and disintegrated it. At the same time though, something within me buckled.

I didn’t know how...

How they had managed to do it.

But first, I saw crimson hair that flew past me and met the flames. Then next I saw a silver hair that flowed beneath a scarf, and chains that flared.

The two of them barred in front of me and they met the flames. A horrendous amount of white flames poured from my front and formed a wall that slammed into the flames.

While Kassie turned back, and cradled me into her arms, with a bitter and intensely angered expression on her face. She flew off the cliff with a single movement.

I was unsure what Maggie was doing, but she had created an equal force with her flames, and stopped the descending wall of light. Before she removed herself from there.

Somewhere... actually many places around my body were literally tormenting me. It was hard to stay sane with the intense burn that assaulted me on different sides. It felt like my flesh was being ripped apart not by hands but by the very air.

And it was the pain that knocked me out before I could make sense of the situation around me.
