The Apocalypse of the Book: So What If I'm Just a Cannon Fodder? I Can Still Have Fun

120: Identity in the last worldEarly the next morning, Su Mianmian followed Su Jinxuan down to find Wu Yao.

When Shi Xu came out and learned that Su Mianmian had already left, he looked unhappy.

Didn’t she say she was going to check his dark circles today?

Shi Xu frowned, thinking Su Mianmian was a liar.

He returned to his room, looking sullen, and the others, seeing him like this, dared not speak for a while.

Only after Shi Xu left did they start discussing, one sentence at a time.

The final conclusion was that Shi Xu’s reaction was due to not being satisfied.

They dared not imagine what exactly he wasn’t satisfied with.

They only prayed that Su Mianmian would return soon.

When Wu Yao opened the door and saw Su Mianmian, his eyes lit up.

Seeing this, Su Jinxuan became slightly wary.

He looked at Wu Yao with vigilance, as if warning him that if he dared to do anything to Su Mianmian, he would step in and teach him a lesson.

Su Mianmian, however, felt nothing much; she thought Wu Yao was probably just excited to see someone like him.

Being alone in this world did seem quite lonely.

Su Mianmian felt that if she didn’t have Su Jinxuan and Shi Xu, she would also feel lonely.

It was the kind of loneliness as if she were the only person in this world.

Su Mianmian believed that Wu Yao, being alone, probably felt the same way.

She smiled at him kindly and casually said, ”Wu Yao, is there something you need me for?”

Wu Yao nodded; he looked at Su Jinxuan, seemingly wanting him to leave.

Su Mianmian turned to glance at Su Jinxuan, guessing that Wu Yao probably wanted to tell her something that Su Jinxuan shouldn’t hear.

She thought for a moment, then spoke to Su Jinxuan, ”Brother, wait for me outside.”

Su Jinxuan wanted to refuse, but Su Mianmian had already followed Wu Yao into the door, and Wu Yao quickly closed the door.

He seemed to have no intention of letting him in at all.

Su Jinxuan looked at the closed door, gritting his teeth; he wanted to break in, but remembering that Su Mianmian might beat him, he endured, and finally stood aside, looking displeased, acting as a doorman.

Wu Yao invited Su Mianmian into the living room, and Su Mianmian looked at the room layout, which was different from her first visit, and felt a little puzzled.

”I remember when I first came, it looked very messy here.”

”After not coming for a few days, it’s actually so clean.”

Su Mianmian looked at Wu Yao with a amused expression.

Wu Yao rubbed his nose, looking embarrassed.

”At that time, I hadn’t officially taken over this body, and I couldn’t control it, so I could only watch it be messy.”

”Now that I’ve officially taken over, of course I have to clean it up.”

”I’m actually quite a clean freak.”

Wu Yao looked at Su Mianmian earnestly, as if telling her that everything he said was true.

Su Mianmian smiled and didn’t dwell on the issue too much.

She brought the conversation back, asking him the purpose of calling her over this time.

When Wu Yao heard her question, he realized the purpose of him calling her.

”I want to trade some supplies with you all.”

”I’m cooperating with you; you wouldn’t watch me starve to death, would you?”

”If I don’t get food soon, I’m really going to starve to death.”

Wu Yao looked at Su Mianmian with a pained expression, trying to make her feel his distress.

Su Mianmian clearly hadn’t expected the purpose of his visit to be so simple; for a moment, she didn’t know what to say.

Seeing her not speak, Wu Yao thought his request was too much.

He thought that it was the apocalypse, and supplies were indeed hard to find.

They had many people, so their supplies were consumed quickly, and they hadn’t been out to find supplies recently, so their remaining supplies probably wouldn’t last them much longer.

Thinking of this, Wu Yao felt his request might be a bit too much.

Just as he was about to say something, Su Mianmian spoke first, ”It was our oversight; I’ll have my brother send you supplies shortly.”

”From now on, you can tell him if you need anything.”

Su Mianmian looked at Wu Yao earnestly and instructed him.

Wu Yao had helped them, so she couldn’t just do nothing.

The one thing her space didn’t lack was supplies; if he asked for other things, she might not have them, but if he asked for supplies, she would definitely give them.

Wu Yao hadn’t expected Su Mianmian to be so generous; he couldn’t help but get excited.

”You are truly good people; I’ve decided, I’m following you all from now on!”

”Don’t worry, my abilities and kung fu are very powerful; I definitely won’t be a burden to you.”

Wu Yao patted his chest, assuring her.

Although he thought he was powerful, the apocalypse was too cruel; he definitely couldn’t handle it alone, so forming a team was better.

Moreover, he had good judgment; whether it was Shi Xu, Su Jinxuan, or Su Mianmian, he felt that following them wouldn’t go wrong.

Su Mianmian had never asked him about his identity in the other world; when she heard his words, she suddenly became curious.

”What was your previous identity?”

She looked at him with a puzzled expression; in her heart, she already had a guess, but she didn’t know if her guess would come true.

Wu Yao knew that he would be asked this question sooner or later; he said without thinking, ”To be honest, I used to be an assassin, but I can assure you that I am a principled assassin; I only kill evil people. No matter how much money good people offer me, I won’t kill them.”

”And I am very loyal; since I said I’d follow you, I won’t betray you.”

Although Wu Yao’s expression was calm, his tone carried a hint of obvious urgency.

He seemed worried that Su Mianmian wouldn’t believe him, and he spoke exceptionally fast.

Su Mianmian looked him over, not expecting him to actually be an assassin.

When she knew he was skilled, she had already guessed that he was either an assassin or a special talent in the other world.

Now that she knew he was an assassin, she wasn’t too shocked, as if she had already anticipated it.

Su Mianmian nodded calmly and said serenely, ”You can follow us. We are going to build a base in the future, and then what you achieve will depend on your own luck.”

She didn’t hide anything and directly stated their plan.

As the saying goes, ’employ people without suspicion, suspect people without employing them’; Su Mianmian just wanted to see Wu Yao’s reaction.

Wu Yao didn’t know that Su Mianmian was testing him; as soon as he heard Su Mianmian say it depended on his ability, he waved his hand and said casually, ”I just want to find a stable place to live well. I’ve lived too long a life of blades and shadows; I just want to live a good life.”

”But in this world, it seems if you don’t work hard, you’ll be eliminated.”

Wu Yao shook his head, looking helpless.

He actually didn’t like the life of blades and shadows; if he hadn’t been trapped in that life before, he would have escaped long ago.

He hadn’t expected that even in another world, he still had to work hard.

Wu Yao felt a little helpless in his heart.

Su Mianmian looked at Wu Yao’s helpless expression and understood his thoughts.

She smiled with satisfaction, thinking he was someone who could join them.

However, the specifics would still depend on what Shi Xu and the others thought.

Thinking of this, Su Mianmian didn’t give him a definite answer, only saying she needed to ask the others.

Wu Yao also knew that recruiting people now involved many considerations; he wasn’t discouraged and said firmly, ”I can wait, and I can perform well.”

Su Mianmian liked his resolve; she nodded, told him to wait for the supplies there, and turned to leave.

As soon as she came out, she bumped into Su Jinxuan.

Su Mianmian looked at Su Jinxuan helplessly; she raised her hand to rub her forehead, which had been bumped, and for a moment didn’t know what to say.

Su Jinxuan hadn’t expected Su Mianmian to come out at this time; he looked down at her guiltily, not daring to say anything.

One didn’t want to speak, and the other didn’t dare to speak.

Su Mianmian finished rubbing her forehead and turned to go upstairs.

She had said that Su Jinxuan would deliver supplies to Wu Yao later; if it took too long, he might think she didn’t keep her word.

Su Jinxuan watched Su Mianmian walk quickly, and he hurried to follow her.

”Mianmian, I didn’t do it on purpose; I didn’t know you’d come out so fast.”

”Please don’t be angry, okay?”

Su Jinxuan looked at Su Mianmian coaxingly, his tone full of guilt.

He didn’t know how to explain, so he could only apologize.

Su Jinxuan thought that apologizing was better than not apologizing, and Su Mianmian shouldn’t stay angry with him for long.

He looked at her cautiously, hoping she would calm down soon.
