Apocalypse Rebirth: Making Billions With My Fortune-Telling Skill

The soft, soothing scent of lavender and eucalyptus filled the room, accompanied by the gentle hum of ambient water fountains. Two top-tier celebrity hair stylists and an aesthetician—personally vetted and brought in under strict confidentiality contracts—were hovering over April with the utmost reverence, treating her like royalty.

”Your hair is remarkably healthy, Miss April,” the lead stylist murmured in awe, running a fine-toothed horn comb through April’s long, dark tresses as a warm steam treatment relaxed her scalp. ”The natural shine and texture are exquisite. We’re applying a deep-conditioning caviar mask today to give it an ethereal, liquid-silk finish for the sapphire dress you plan to wear tonight.”

April kept her eyes closed, letting out a small, quiet breath. As much as she wanted to complain about wasting time on vanity, the soothing scalp massage and the gentle warmth radiating through her muscles were admittedly relaxing.

In her past life, she had never known this kind of relaxation.

Sitting on the lounger beside her, Emily was currently getting her own brown hair styled into loose, elegant waves, a soothing collagen face mask resting over her skin as she happily sipped a glass of fresh sparkling fruit juice.

”See?” Emily turned her head toward April, her voice slightly muffled by the face mask. ”Isn’t this nice?”

April didn’t open her eyes, but a subtle, faint smile touched the corner of her lips.

”I suppose it isn’t the worst way to pass the time,” April murmured smoothly.

”We are going to do an intricate, half-up braided crown for you, Miss April,” the lead stylist chimed in, carefully sectioning her dark hair. ”With soft, framing tendrils around your face and subtle silver-blue pins woven into the back to complement the sapphire gown. You will look absolutely breathtaking.”

”Just make sure it’s secure,” April replied coolly, her dark eyes opening slightly, catching her own reflection in the vanity mirror. ”I don’t like hair falling in my face when things get... lively.”

The stylist chuckled softly, assuming it was a playful joke about high-society dancing, completely unaware of the deadly caliber of ’lively’ April was actually referencing.

As the three-hour spa session neared its completion—leaving April’s brown hair cascading down her back—the doors of the suite opened.

Samuel stepped into the room, impeccably dressed as always in a sharp grey suit, his posture rigid and professional. He held a sleek, velvet-lined jewelry case under his arm.

He didn’t look directly at the female stylists, maintaining an absolute line of respectful boundaries, and stopped a few paces away from April’s chair.

”Miss April,” Samuel addressed her with a clean, low bow. ”Master Xavier has requested that I deliver the final accessories for tonight’s attire. The master tailors have finished pressing both gowns, and they are hanging in your suite.”

April sat up, running a hand through her silk-smooth hair. ”Thank you, Samuel. How are the security arrangements for the venue coming along?”

”Everything has been locked down to military specifications,” Samuel answered smoothly, a dark, hidden glint flickering in his eyes for a fraction of a second before vanishing behind his usual calm exterior. ”Reed Industries security forces, alongside Mr. Nat’s covert operatives have established an impenetrable perimeter around the grand hotel plaza. Once everyone has entered the venue, no one leaves without permission.”

”Good,” April said, standing up and stretching her legs cleanly.

Samuel opened the velvet case in his hands, presenting a set of custom sapphire-and-diamond drop necklace and earrings crafted specifically to match her dress, alongside a delicate diamond tiara headband for Emily.

Emily gasped, her hands covering her mouth as she looked at the sparkling jewels. ”They’re so beautiful...”

April looked down at the gleaming sapphires, then reached out, her fingers lightly brushing against the cool metal of the earrings. It was indeed beautiful, but... Her mind briefly flicked to the silver ’A’ necklace currently hidden safely under her collar, before her focus shifted entirely back to the task at hand.

”Help me pass on a message to Xavier,” she said. ”The dresses will do just fine. As for the jewelry, I won’t be taking this.”

”Why, if I may ask?” Samuel asked, his professional composure wavering for a fraction of a second as he looked between the velvet box and her face.

April reached up, hooking her fingers beneath the collar of her top, and gently drew out the silver chain tucked safely against her skin. She let the sleek, minimalist ’A’ pendant fall free, allowing it to catch the light and gleam brightly against her collarbone.

”This.”

Emily and Samuel stared at the necklace in stunned silence.

Emily’s jaw dropped slightly, her eyes widening as she recognized the exquisite craft of the silver pendant, while Samuel’s trained eye instantly locked onto the piece, recognizing the signature dark, understated luxury of Nat’s personal collection.

A quiet, heavy beat passed in the spa suite. Samuel slowly lowered the velvet case, closing the lid with a soft, muted click. He didn’t need more words for him to understand her intentions. His expression remained completely calm, though a subtle, knowing glint passed through his eyes.

”Understood, Miss April,” Samuel bowed his head cleanly. ”I will convey your message to Master Xavier exactly as requested.”

”Thank you, Samuel,” April said smoothly, letting the ’A’ pendant rest comfortably back against her skin. She turned her focus back to Emily, a sharp, breathtaking smirk spreading across her face.

The evening was fast approaching. The sun outside was already beginning its slow descent, casting long, golden shadows across the estate grounds.

”Come on, Emily,” April said softly, a sharp, breathtaking smirk spreading across her face. ”Let’s go put on our armor.”

Once they finished up in the spa suite—after indulging in a final, relaxing soak in a fragrant blossom-infused bath—they headed back upstairs to the dressing quarters.

It was time.

The two sisters donned their respective dresses, the heavy silk and sparkling gems settling over them like majestic, impenetrable armor.

Emily stood in front of the full-length mirror in sheer awe, her white diamond gown reflecting light like a tapestry of pure starlight, a delicate tiara nestled perfectly in her soft, wavy hair.

Beside her, April stood clad in the sapphire gown, the rich blue silk draping over her frame in sweeping, regal folds, her braided crown holding her hair back as the silver ’A’ pendant rested prominently against her collarbone.

She had a wicked smirk plastered on her lips. She was excited, knowing she was about to put her enemies down once and for all. What would come next after she was done with the revenge and the system registered it all completed?

She couldn’t wait.
