The Elven Cultivator

Chapter 322: Chapter 295: Do You Want to Be My Disciple?

Just then, the leading Elf officer suddenly spoke.

”We’ll buy all the Dogman slaves from this Slave Hunting Team.”

Jonah and Field were stunned for a moment, then let out a sigh of relief.

The middle-aged man’s expression changed slightly. His lips moved a few times, wanting to refuse.

But when he looked up and met the cold gazes of the Elf soldiers, he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

He was just the leader of a small Slave Hunting Team; he didn’t have the guts to offend the Silver Moon Race.

”...Fine.”

The middle-aged man gritted his teeth, forcing out a single word before turning and waving to his subordinates.

The guards hesitated for a moment but quickly walked to the back of the convoy and pulled the black cloths off several large wagons.

The moment the black cloths were removed, a foul stench mixed with sweat, blood, and feces assaulted their nostrils.

Dozens of Dogmen were crammed into the narrow iron cages.

Their hands and feet were bound with coarse hemp ropes, and their mouths were stuffed with rags. Their hair was disheveled, their clothes tattered, and their exposed skin was covered in welts and bruises.

The Dogman girl was the first to rush over, dashing to the front of the iron cages.

Her eyes swept rapidly over the wretched figures, quickly locking onto a boy huddled in the very back.

”Aron!”

Her voice trembled with a mixture of excitement and worry.

The boy looked up, revealing a small, filthy face.

He looked to be no more than seven or eight years old. He had a scabbed-over wound on his forehead, his lips were chapped, and his eyes were red and swollen. He was as thin as a dried twig.

The moment he saw the girl, a light suddenly ignited in his dull eyes.

”Sister!”

The Dogman boy struggled to get up but was tripped by the ropes. He fell to the bottom of the cage, his forehead hitting the iron bars with a dull THUD.

The girl whipped her head around and roared at a nearby guard, ”Hurry up and let them out!”

The guards opened the iron cages with blank expressions.

The moment the Dogman boy was out of the cage, he threw himself into the girl’s arms and began to cry his eyes out.

”Sister... I was so scared... They hit me... They wouldn’t give me food...”

The girl held him tightly, her eyes red and her lips trembling. She couldn’t say a single word, only patting his back gently.

The other Dogmen nearby also found their relatives, and a chorus of crying erupted in front of the cages.

Meanwhile, the middle-aged man took the money pouch from the Elf officer. He weighed it in his hand, and his expression improved slightly.

He was about to turn and leave when the Elf officer stopped him.

The officer fixed an icy stare on the middle-aged man.

”The Dogman Race is now one of our Clan’s Vassal Races. From this day forward, if you dare to sell Dogman slaves in our territory again... you will face the consequences.”

The middle-aged man’s face stiffened. He gave an awkward laugh and said, ”Rest assured, my lord. We’ll remember. We’ll remember.”

After the middle-aged man walked away, the Dogman Clan Leader stepped forward and said gratefully, ”My lord, thank you for your help...”

The Elf captain raised a hand to cut him off, his voice low. ”Save your thanks for after you’ve taken your revenge with your own hands.”

The Dogman Clan Leader froze for a moment. He looked up, met the Elf captain’s meaningful gaze, and immediately understood. His expression firmed, and he nodded resolutely.

Seeing that the Dogman Clan Leader had grasped his meaning, the Elf captain nodded to himself.

Buying the slaves was merely a gesture to save Bilin City’s face.

But the Silver Moon Race was not so callous as to stand by and watch its Vassal Races suffer a loss.

It would be best to wait until this Slave Hunting Team was far from Bilin City before making a move.

But just then, the Dogman boy suddenly struggled out of the girl’s arms, pointed at the middle-aged man, and shouted, ”Sister, these bad guys also captured Elves as slaves!”

The area around the city gate fell silent.

The air seemed to freeze.

The next moment, a crisp, metallic scraping sound suddenly rang out.

The Elf soldiers drew their Long Swords in unison. They fanned out with practiced coordination, surrounding the entire Slave Hunting Team.

The surrounding merchants all cast astonished gazes at the Slave Hunting Team.

To capture Elves in the Silver Moon Race’s territory...

Brave souls!

Jonah and Field were also stunned, their eyes glued to the few wagons that were still covered with black cloths.

They actually dared to capture Elves as slaves and then brazenly parade through the territory of the Silver Moon Race.

’Have these guys lost their minds?’

The middle-aged man’s face was deathly pale. He waved his hands frantically in front of him, his voice cracking. ”My lord, a misunderstanding! A huge misunderstanding! How could we dare to capture Elves? That little brat is just talking nonsense! We absolutely did not!”

The Elf officer ignored his excuses and spoke coldly, ”Uncover the rest of the wagons.”

The middle-aged man immediately hesitated.

Seeing this, the Elf officer raised his hand, his five fingers slightly spread.

The Elf soldiers behind him took a step forward in unison, their sword tips aimed at the Slave Hunting Team.

”Wait! I’ll do it! I’ll do it!”

Under the menacing glares of the Elf soldiers, the Slave Hunting Team uncovered the black cloths one by one.

After seeing the situation in the wagons, the surrounding crowd was stunned.

In the iron cages of the last few wagons were more than a dozen wretched figures.

They had beautiful faces and slender figures similar to those of Elves.

But upon closer inspection, one could notice that their pointed ears were distinctly shorter and more rounded.

Their skin and hair also lacked the fantastical silver or pale gold sheen often seen in Elves, leaning more toward the common light and dark warm tones of humans.

”Half-Elves...”

Field muttered, his expression complicated.

Half-Elves are the mixed-blood descendants of Elves and the Human Race or Dwarves.

Like many mixed-race peoples, the status of Half-Elves was extremely awkward.

The Elf Race did not acknowledge them, considering their bloodline impure.

The Human Race, on the other hand, didn’t ’reject’ them—instead, they treated them as expensive playthings, sending out Slave Hunting Teams to capture them as slaves.

Many Half-Elves were doomed to a tragic fate from birth.

They were snatched from their parents by traffickers, sold and resold in slave markets across the continent, and ultimately became the playthings of the rich and powerful.

They were like rootless duckweed, drifting across the continent with nowhere to belong.

Looking at the trembling Half-Elves in the iron cages, the Elf captain’s expression softened slightly, but then his brows furrowed again.

If they had been Pure-blood Elves in those cages, there would be no question—he would have had the perfect reason to act.

He would have certainly made these slave traders pay a bloody price.

But Half-Elves...

Just as the Elf captain’s eyes wavered, a crisp laugh suddenly drifted down from the city wall.

Everyone looked toward the sound and saw an Elf Maiden who had appeared at a crenel on the battlement.

She sat on the battlement, her legs crossed, one hand propping up her chin as she looked down with great interest.

Jonah and Field were slightly taken aback.

Just as they were about to ask who she was, the surrounding Elf soldiers dropped to one knee in unison.

Their sword tips touched the ground, making a soft, uniform sound.

”Lord Roman!”

The Elf officer bowed his head, his voice filled with reverence.

Jonah and Field stared blankly for a moment, then it suddenly dawned on them, and a chill ran down their spines.

Romance Silver Moon!

The Legendary Powerhouse of the Silver Moon Race!

The Deputy Commander of the Silver Moon Legion!

The two of them couldn’t help but feel a little fortunate.

Thankfully, they had hesitated a moment ago due to her Elven appearance and hadn’t immediately reprimanded her for her actions. Otherwise, they would have been in big trouble.

At the same time, an uproar broke out around the city gate.

”Romance... is that the Deputy Commander of the Silver Moon Legion?!”

”This is the first time I’ve seen her in person... I didn’t expect her to be so young.”

”Of course! I heard Lord Roman is less than two hundred years old this year!”

A wave of whispers rippled through the crowd, mixed with awe and astonishment.

As one of the few Legendary Powerhouses of the Silver Moon Race, the name Romance Silver Moon was known to everyone on the Eldron Plain and the Green Highlands.

How could the sudden appearance of such a legendary figure not be completely astonishing?

Romance ignored the surrounding stares. Her gaze swept over the Half-Elves, and she gave a dismissive wave of her hand.

”Detain this Slave Hunting Team and release those Half-Elves.”

The Elf officer didn’t hesitate for a second, immediately replying, ”Yes!”

He stood up and waved to the Elf soldiers behind him.

”Disarm them! If any dare to resist, kill them without mercy!”

The Elf soldiers surged forward like a tide, their blades pointed directly at the Slave Hunting Team.

The faces of the Slave Hunting Team’s guards instantly turned pale. A few of them instinctively reached for their weapons but were held back firmly by their comrades.

’Are you crazy? This is the Black Iron Legion!’

Every Elf soldier was at least at the Black Iron Tier in strength.

For them, resistance was a dead end!

The middle-aged man grew anxious and quickly said, ”Lord Roman, this isn’t fair! We haven’t broken any of Bilin City’s rules! Even if you are a Legendary Powerhouse of the Silver Moon Race, you can’t be this unreasonable!”

Romance tilted her head, looking at him with a smile.

”Your Slave Hunting Team captures other races as slaves based on the principle that the strong devour the weak. You didn’t bother with reason then.”

”And now, we are stronger than you. Never mind just detaining you—even if we made you slaves, you would have no grounds to complain.”

The middle-aged man was instantly speechless.

Soon, the Slave Hunting Team was disarmed by the Elf soldiers and shoved into the prison wagons previously used for the slaves.

Jonah and Field watched this scene, both with complex expressions.

However, faced with a great figure of the Silver Moon Race like Romance, they couldn’t voice any of the thoughts on their minds.

Romance paid their opinions no mind. She leaped down from the city wall and said to the Elf captain who came to greet her, ”Take those Half-Elves and the Slave Hunting Team back to the Taichu Spirit Realm.”

”Yes, Lord Roman.”

Influenced by Anton, Romance didn’t place much importance on bloodlines and didn’t discriminate against mixed-race individuals.

Besides, if the Silver Moon Race could open up the advancement channels of Taichu City disciples to its Vassal Races, what was the big deal about accepting Half-Elves?

The latter, at least, had half-Elf blood.

As for whether Bilin City would be affected by this matter, Romance couldn’t care less.

As one of the Silver Moon Race’s Vassal Races, they should follow the will of the Silver Moon Race.

”Thank you, Lord Roman.”

The Dogman girl brought her brother before Romance, dropped to her knees with a THUD, her face full of gratitude.

Romance took out two vials of flesh-regenerating potion and tossed them to the Dogman girl. ”Heal your wounds first.”

Only after the Dogman girl and her brother drank the potions and their injuries began to heal did Romance say with a smile:

”I saw your fight just now. I like your style.”

”How would you like to be my disciple?”
