The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 306: Chapter 303: Cinderella’s Comeback 48

Anning only heard about Wu Linna the next morning.

She went to Wu Family’s home to see Wu Linna at noon.

When Anning arrived, both Mr. Wu and Mrs. Wu were home.

The couple sat in the living room, sighing and visibly worried.

When they saw Anning, Mrs. Wu wanted to say something, but choked up the moment she opened her mouth.

”Nana?”

Anning quickly asked Mrs. Wu.

Mrs. Wu pointed towards Wu Linna’s bedroom: ”She’s been in the room all this time, not coming out no matter who calls her. You go in and talk to her, she gets along so well with you, maybe she’ll listen to you.”

Anning nodded and walked to the bedroom door, knocking: ”Nana, it’s me.”

After a while, Wu Linna opened the door.

Anning hurried in and shut the door behind her.

In just one night, Wu Linna seemed to have completely changed.

She sat on the bed, her long hair disheveled, her face unwashed and pale, looking extremely distressed.

Wu Linna’s room was tidily arranged, the colors inside bright and distinct.

But if the whole room was a colorful painting, then Wu Linna sitting on the bed was in black and white.

She was enveloped in depression, discomfort, and indescribable grief.

”What should I do?”

Wu Linna grabbed Anning’s hand and started crying: ”He fell, I watched him fall, he fell because of me, I don’t know what to do? Ningning, do you know, his parents died in a car accident a few years ago, he and his Grandma were all each other had. Now that he’s had an accident, what will his Grandma do?”

Wu Linna is a kind-hearted girl.

She is really worried about Zhou Guangshen.

She worried about Zhou Guangshen’s future, and his Grandma’s livelihood.

”It’s all my fault, all my fault. If I hadn’t talked to him, he wouldn’t have fallen.”

Wu Linna was clearly full of self-blame.

Anning hugged her and gently consoled: ”It’s not your fault, don’t be so hard on yourself, it really isn’t your fault, you didn’t make him climb the window. These are all accidents, who hasn’t encountered accidents in life? We really don’t know who might have an accident, or get hurt, or die someday. Look, you could be hit by a car just walking on the street, healthy-looking people can suddenly die from a disease, maybe someone could even choke to death drinking water, these things are unavoidable. Please don’t blame yourself, okay?”

Wu Linna was still crying.

But she felt a bit better in her heart.

Anning softly said, ”Now that this has happened, blaming yourself won’t help. You need to pull yourself together, Zhou Guangshen is already in that condition, you can’t afford to have any accidents, understand? You need to be strong.”

”But my heart feels so heavy.”

Wu Linna hugged Anning and sobbed heavily.

Anning gently patted her back, whispering to her.

When Wu Linna calmed down, Anning said: ”How is Zhou Guangshen now? Which hospital? Let me go with you to see him, you see, since there’s a problem, we must face it positively and think of solutions.”

Wu Linna took a deep breath: ”Okay, I... let’s go see him.”

Anning had Wu Linna change clothes, combed her hair, and suggested she brush her teeth and wash her face.

While Wu Linna was getting ready, Anning called Teacher Li to request the afternoon off.

When Wu Linna was ready, Anning took her out of the bedroom.

Mr. Wu and Mrs. Wu looked up at Wu Linna finally stepping out.

Mr. Wu opened his mouth, unsure of what to say.

They were also very scared, afraid their daughter would blame them, and worried about any complications from Zhou Guangshen’s side.

Most importantly, they were afraid of Wu Linna being too heartbroken. If she couldn’t overcome her emotional hurdle, she might develop psychological issues.

Mrs. Wu looked at Wu Linna, her eyes turning red.

Anning smiled at Mrs. Wu: ”Auntie, I’m taking Nana out for a walk, we’ll grab some food, and also, I’ll accompany her to the hospital to see Zhou Guangshen.”

Mrs. Wu was not unreasonable.

She knew Zhou Guangshen was now in the hospital and it was only right for Wu Linna to visit him.

Actually, earlier in the morning, Mrs. Wu and Mr. Wu had already visited the hospital and brought some money and things.

But Zhou Guangshen refused to accept anything.

”Alright.”

When Mrs. Wu spoke, her voice was hoarse.

Anning took Wu Linna out of the Wu Family home, and first they found a place to have some food.

Wu Linna hadn’t eaten anything since last night, not only had she not had any meals, she hadn’t even had a sip of water.

What Anning needed to do now was to fill Wu Linna’s stomach and simultaneously encourage her to cheer up.

After eating, the two of them took a taxi to the hospital.

Zhou Guangshen was in the First Hospital; Anning and Wu Linna first checked his room number before finding their way there.

When they entered, Granny Zhou was coaxing Zhou Guangshen to eat.

Seeing Zhou Guangshen lying on the hospital bed, in so much pain that he couldn’t eat, Wu Linna’s tears fell.

Zhou Guangshen also looked up at Wu Linna.

The two of them truly had a tearful exchange of looks.

Granny Zhou noticed Wu Linna’s uneasy expression but did not voice any complaints.

Anning nudged Wu Linna, prompting her to step forward and ask, ”How are you? What did the doctor say?”

She was truly frightened.

She remembered how Zhou Guangshen fell last night; when she ran downstairs, he was covered in blood, which was incredibly scary.

”It’s okay.”

Zhou Guangshen forced a smile, ”I just injured my leg, a few days in the hospital and I’ll be fine. Don’t cry.”

Granny Zhou frowned, glaring fiercely at Zhou Guangshen: ”It’s not fine, the doctor didn’t say that, the doctor mentioned he might need amputation.”

”Ah!”

Wu Linna was startled.

She walked over and grasped Zhou Guangshen’s hand: ”Tell me the truth, what exactly did the doctor say?”

Zhou Guangshen bowed his head, silent.

He didn’t want to tell the truth, not wanting to upset Wu Linna, but with his grandmother there, he couldn’t lie either.

Wu Linna realized that Zhou Guangshen’s condition was definitely very bad.

Holding onto Zhou Guangshen, she cried and said, ”Isn’t there any other way? If it’s not possible here in Qing City, can we go to another hospital, how about we go to the Capital, we can find a good doctor...”

Granny Zhou no longer held such deep resentment towards Wu Linna at this moment.

She knew this situation couldn’t really be blamed on the girl.

It was her grandson who was too daring, climbing up so high.

Zhou Guangshen endured the pain, comforting Wu Linna with a smile: ”I’m really fine, don’t cry, it makes me feel worse when you cry.”

Anning went over to examine Zhou Guangshen’s leg, then patted Wu Linna’s shoulder: ”I’ll go ask the doctor again, get some more information, see if there’s a better solution.”

Wu Linna nodded, thanking Anning.

Anning waved her hand and left.

She found Zhou Guangshen’s attending doctor.

And got a clear understanding of Zhou Guangshen’s condition.

According to the doctor, Zhou Guangshen surviving a fall from such a height was a miracle itself, just breaking his leg was fortunate.

Zhou Guangshen had a broken leg bone, which was not too troublesome, the main issue was the nerve damage. If this couldn’t be treated, the leg would be useless.

Anning discussed with the doctor for a while, then stepped out of the office and into the hospital corridor to call Xiao Yuan.

She told Xiao Yuan about Zhou Guangshen’s condition and asked him to come over to have a look.

Actually, with Anning’s medical skills, she was capable of treating Zhou Guangshen’s leg.

But, she really had no excuse to treat him.

Over the past decade or more, Gu Anning had never touched anything related to medicine; if she dared to treat him, others might consider her a demon or something.

After the call to Xiao Yuan, Anning returned to the ward.

At this time, Wu Linna was sitting in a chair, talking to Zhou Guangshen.

Both of them had calmed down, and the atmosphere seemed quite good.

Anning approached, whispering to Wu Linna, ”I know a master-level doctor, and it happens that he is here in Qing City. I just called him, and he will be here soon.”

Wu Linna was startled.

She knew what a master-level doctor symbolized.

In ancient times, that would be the Imperial Physician.

Such doctors were not just anyone you could ask to come over, you might not even have the means to meet them.

She looked at Anning with eyes full of gratitude.
