After listening to what had just been said, Lin Feng immediately fell into deep thought.

This outcome matched almost perfectly with what he had predicted.

Now that Xiao Yan had obtained a Heavenly Flame, Yao Chen would certainly help him devour it.

After all, back at the auction, Xiao Yan had obtained a portion of the Ground Spirit Pill’s ingredients from him.

And as for the Acceptance Soul required to subdue a Heavenly Flame, he remembered that Yao Chen seemed to have one in reserve.

Speaking of Acceptance Soul, he himself had also obtained one from Gu Te a few years ago.

So when it came time for him to devour a Heavenly Flame, he wouldn’t need to go searching for an extra one either.

Of course, given his current status, finding an Acceptance Soul wouldn’t be all that difficult anyway.

Although the Sea Heart Flame had previously been subdued by Han Feng, Xiao Yan was currently only at the Dou Ling level.

He estimated that once Xiao Yan successfully devoured the Sea Heart Flame, his strength should rise by about Five or Six Stars.

After that, that master-disciple pair would likely start thinking about how to get their hands on the Fallen Heart Flame hidden within the Inner Academy.

After all, with the Sea Heart Flame’s energy alone, it probably wasn’t enough to evolve Xiao Yan’s Flame Mantra to the Earth Class.

For levels below the Earth Class, the Fallen Heart Flame would likely prove to be quite useful.

Thinking of the Fallen Heart Flame, Lin Feng turned his gaze to the nearby Zi Yan and asked, ”What’s the Inner Academy’s current stance on Xiao Yan? Are they worried he might try to snatch their Heavenly Flame?”

”At first, the Inner Academy was a bit wary of him. They even thought about driving him out. But now, their relationship with Xiao Yan is pretty good,” Zi Yan replied.

As she spoke, she turned her head toward him.

Her pair of purple eyes blinked in confusion as she added, ”As for worrying about him stealing a Heavenly Flame, that’s impossible.

After all, a person can only subdue one Heavenly Flame. And Xiao Yan is already in seclusion, absorbing that blue flame. Since he can’t absorb another, why would they worry about him stealing the Inner Academy’s Heavenly Flame?”

Hearing that, Lin Feng put on a look of surprise and said, ”Didn’t Xiao Yan already possess a Heavenly Flame? He can still absorb another?”

”Nope,” Zi Yan replied, ”That old man Su Qian said the white Heavenly Flame from before didn’t belong to Xiao Yan. Over a month ago, Xiao Yan said something to the old man—no one knows what—but it suddenly changed Su Qian’s attitude. He even agreed to let Xiao Yan stay in the Inner Academy.”

Zi Yan then spilled out everything she knew in one breath.

Hearing this, Lin Feng raised an eyebrow, visibly surprised in his heart.

He hadn’t expected that not only had Xiao Yan smoothed things over with Jia Nan Academy, but he was now already in seclusion, absorbing the Sea Heart Flame.

From the looks of things, he himself needed to hurry up and absorb that Rank 8 Beast Flame.

Afterward, he’d find a suitable time to devour the slightly weaker Green Lotus Core Flame.

As for the far more powerful Fallen Heart Flame, he’d wait until his strength had risen further before attempting that.

At the same time, he would also have to think of ways to suppress Xiao Yan’s growth.

Otherwise, once Xiao Yan’s strength caught up and Yao Chen brought him to meet the three great heads of the Pill Tower, things would get troublesome.

After all, both he and Xiao Yan were cultivating the Flame Mantra.

They both wanted to gather as many Heavenly Flames as possible to evolve their technique.

But on the Dou Qi Continent, Heavenly Flames were extremely rare and hard to find.

If the two of them ever crossed paths, and Xiao Yan didn’t covet his Heavenly Flame—he wouldn’t believe it even if he were beaten to death.

Especially considering Xiao Yan’s attitude in the original story after learning that Han Feng cultivated a remnant of the Flame Mantra.

For this technique, whoever cultivates it—Xiao Yan will relentlessly fix his gaze on them.

If Xiao Yan knew that the technique he was cultivating was actually the complete version of the Flame Mantra…

He would probably wish he could immediately rush over, kill him, and seize the Flame Mantra for himself.

So from the moment he began cultivating this technique, he was already fated to be mortal enemies with Xiao Yan!

Now that an opportunity had arisen to increase the difficulty of Xiao Yan’s growth, Lin Feng naturally wouldn’t let him slip away right under his nose.

He then pretended to recall something and said, ”I think I heard that some people can possess multiple Heavenly Flames at once. Your Inner Academy should probably stay alert.”

”Eh? Really? I’ll go back and have that old man Su Qian keep an eye out then.”

Zi Yan nodded in surprise at Lin Feng’s words, clearly taking the warning to heart.

Afterward, Lin Feng asked Zi Yan a few more questions about the current situation in the Inner Academy, and then departed alone to train in the mountain range near Spirit Mountain City.

After all, although he was currently only at the Eight-Star Da Dou Shi level, once he unleashed all his techniques—

Even an ordinary high-level Dou Ling could be slain by his hand.

So training alone didn’t pose much of a problem.

As for why he went to the mountains to train instead of having Zi Yan take him back to cultivate in the Inner Academy’s Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower…

The main reason was that he had spent too little time in the Da Dou Shi realm during his first cultivation.

Now that he was retraining, it was a good opportunity to engage in more battles and develop a deeper understanding of this level.

This would also benefit his future cultivation considerably.

As for Zi Yan, seeing that Lin Feng wasn’t able to accompany her around anymore, she left in disappointment and returned to the Academy.

Within the mountain range stretching beyond Spirit Mountain City, Lin Feng’s figure darted swiftly forward, arcs of lightning flickering beneath his feet.

Roughly a dozen meters behind him, a purple leopard over three meters long was giving relentless chase.

It roared furiously from time to time, as if Lin Feng had stolen something extremely important from it.

Sensing the anger of the Rank 4 Purple Wind Leopard behind him, Lin Feng maintained a steady distance, luring it forward.

”Heh, time to deal with you here.”

Soon after, he arrived at a spacious basin and stopped abruptly, a twisted grin spreading across his face as he turned to face the snarling purple leopard.

The Purple Wind Leopard hesitated briefly but still pounced toward the human, who seemed far weaker than itself.

As it neared, a surge of scorching red flames suddenly erupted from Lin Feng’s body.

It was a new type of beast flame, formed from the fusion of the two beast flames he had previously absorbed.

Its power was far greater than that of an ordinary Rank 7 beast flame.

The surging flame quickly condensed into the form of a Blazing Flame Horned Lizard, which then crashed directly into the charging Purple Wind Leopard.

Boom!

A loud explosion echoed through the mountains and forests as thick smoke billowed into the air.

When the smoke finally dispersed, the Purple Wind Leopard looked utterly miserable.

Most of its fur had been burned off by Lin Feng’s Fire Condensation Art.

The skin on its face was also scorched and cracked by the flames.

Amid the wounds, charred flesh and blackened blood could be faintly seen.

Lin Feng, however, wasn’t surprised at the sight.

After more than a month of cultivation, he had advanced to the Nine-Star Da Dou Shi level.

On top of that, being a re-cultivator, his strength was roughly twice that of a normal cultivator.

Even without using Earth Class Dou Techniques, he could easily trample over any Dou Ling below the Five-Star level.

As for this magic beast in front of him, its strength at most matched that of an early-stage Rank 4 beast, so it naturally wasn’t a match for Lin Feng.
