VISION GRID SYSTEM: THE COMEBACK OF RYOMA TAKEDA

Alvarez doesn’t answer right away. His eyes move from Ryoma to Kurogane, then back to the folder resting on the table. After a brief pause, he picks it up again, flipping it open as if to review the contents once more.

But he isn’t reading, not really. The pages turn slowly under his fingers, but his mind is elsewhere, caught in the weight of the decision pressing down on him.

On one side, the calculation is obvious. As a businessman, growth isn’t optional. It’s survival, and he knows exactly what’s standing in front of him right now.

Ryoma Takeda, whether this kid wins or loses the unification fight almost doesn’t matter. What matters is the event itself. If it delivers, Alvarez’s name rises with it. His promotion gains credibility, not just locally, but beyond.

And more than that, it opens a door. Japan is one of the most active boxing markets in Asia, structured and deeply invested in the sport. A partnership with someone like Ryoma could be the foothold he needs to step into that space.

From there, the path only gets bigger. If everything aligns, if the momentum holds, this doesn’t just stop at one event. They could build something new, something that doesn’t rely on the existing centers of power.

It will become a new hub. Not necessarily replacing places like Las Vegas, but standing alongside it, competing with it, forcing the global industry to acknowledge a shift.

And if that happens, the impact won’t stay at the top. It trickles down. Gyms, fighters, local promotions, the entire ecosystem across the region would feel it. It’s the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come twice.

But the risk that comes with it isn’t something Alvarez can afford to underestimate. Because the people who already control the game won’t sit quietly.

To them, this isn’t just about one fight. It’s about territory, influence, control over where the money flows and who gets to stand at the center of it.

It’s no different from global politics, same principles, just different players. Alvarez knows that you don’t challenge the existing order without consequences.

On the other side of the table, Ryoma watches him closely. His gaze doesn’t waver, calm but intent, as if measuring something beyond what’s visible.

Without drawing attention, he lets the VisionGrid System run quietly in the background, parsing every subtle movement on Alvarez’s face.

After a brief moment, something else slips into Ryoma’s thoughts. It’s quiet, measured, but unmistakably insidious.

The voice carries a sharp edge, something cold and calculated evil beneath it. Under normal circumstances, Ryoma would’ve dismissed it without hesitation. But not this time, not here.

He exhales slowly, then leans forward, his gaze settling fully on Alvarez.

“Listen,” he says, his tone calm, but firmer now. “What I’m asking for isn’t much. And fulfilling it doesn’t mean all the risk shifts onto you. Because in the end, I’m the one they’re targeting. Not you. So there’s no reason for you to be afraid.”

Alvarez’s attention lifts. His eyes meet Ryoma’s again, and something in his expression shifts. It’s subtle, but the hesitation cracks just enough to show the impact.

“At the beginning, I told you that big opportunities come with big risks,” Ryoma continues. “But in this case, your upside isn’t as exposed as you think.”

He leans back slightly, though his gaze remains locked. “I’m the one who carries most of that weight. Whatever happens, it comes to me first. As for this event… I guarantee it will succeed. And when it does, it benefits you.”

His eyes narrow just a fraction. “So investing a little to secure my safety… isn’t a high price to pay.”

After a few more seconds of silence, Alvarez exhales slowly, the hesitation finally breaking as he makes his decision.

“Fine,” he says. “I’ll dig deep into my pocket and meet your demands.”

He glances briefly at Rafa, then places the document back on the table, sliding it toward him.

“Find them a new place,” Alvarez adds. “Shangri-La at the Fort. Full access to Kerry Sports. Private arrangements if needed.”

Rafa’s head snaps slightly, clearly caught off guard. “Do you even realize what that costs? That place isn’t cheap. Five weeks, eight people, premium access… We’re looking at well over a hundred thousand dollars. That alone could drain what’s left of our operational budget.”

He exhales sharply, his gaze sharpens. “We’re not even done funding this event. If we push this further, we might not even make it to fight night.”

“Just do it,” Alvarez cuts in, his tone firm, leaving no room for argument. “If that threat becomes real, I’ll take a loan from the bank.”

He then turns his attention back to Ryoma, his expression steadier now, the hesitation from earlier replaced with something more resolved.

“With this arrangement,” Alvarez says, “you won’t need external security anymore. The place has controlled access.Twenty-four-hour security personnel. Full surveillance coverage. No unnecessary exposure. And the gym is inside the facility. You won’t need to move around.”

Then he raises an eyebrow and leans forward slightly. “It’s as contained as it gets. But the moment you step outside that facility, anything that happens to you is no longer my responsibility.”

Ryoma studies him for a second, weighing it.

Then he gives a small nod.

“…That works.”

Ryoma pushes his chair back and rises to his feet, the movement calm but decisive. He extends his hand across the table.

“I knew I could trust you,”

he says.

Alvarez exhales softly before reaching out to meet it. He gives a small nod as they shake, not fully relaxed, but no longer resisting.

“…Dizon,” he calls without looking away, “take them back to the villa.”

Dizon nods immediately. Ryoma releases the handshake, and Kurogane stands as well. Both of them offer a brief, polite nod before stepping away from the table.

Alvarez sinks back into his chair, the tension finally slipping through the cracks in his composure. His hand comes up to his face briefly, rubbing across his forehead as he exhales.

Rafa stares at him, disbelief written plainly across his expression. “I still don’t get it. How did we let a kid corner us like that?”

Alvarez shakes his head. “You should stop seeing him as a kid. He’s not just fighting as a boxer anymore. He’s challenging the entire system. And he’s not doing it out of naivety. He’s calculated everything.”

His gaze lowers slightly, thoughtful. “For some reason… it doesn’t feel like he’s cornering me, pushing me down, or forcing me back. It feels like he’s pushing me forward… to climb higher.”

At a table set a little farther from Alvarez’s, two men sit in quiet observation, their posture relaxed enough to blend in, but their attention fixed.

Archie doesn’t touch his drink. All this time, his gaze has stayed locked on the group across the room, following the subtle movements of the mouths, piecing together fragments of conversation without needing to hear a single word.

“They’re moving to a new place,” he mutters, his voice low, face tightening almost imperceptibly.

Dave leans back slightly, pretending disinterest. “Is there something else?”

Archie turns his head just enough to look at him. He gives a small nod, his expression cold and calculating.

“The kid knows,” he says. “Not everything, but enough. He understands there are people targeting him… and why.”

Dave exhales quietly, jaw setting. “That makes things complicated.”

“It makes things tighter,” Archie corrects. “If they move into a controlled facility, access becomes limited. Fewer angles. Fewer opportunities.”

Dave studies him for a second. “So what’s next?”

Archie reaches into his pocket, pulling out a few folded bills and placing them neatly on the table. His chair slides back with a soft scrape against the floor.

“We report to Ramirez first,” he says, already rising. “He’ll want to know this changes the timeline.”
