The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 615: Chapter 615: The Allies Have Arrived

The Flame Beast, with its own power, annihilated an entire team in less than 10 minutes. Although this team was not a favorite to win the championship and was one of the weakest among the ten teams, still—

This scene caused a strong shock to the contestants like Ji You and the audience.

A level nine Flame Beast, so terrifying—

...

After annihilating a team, the Flame Beast fiercely stamped its feet on the floor, patrolled the vicinity, and finding no suspicious targets, it twisted its neck, shook its fur, and roared: ”Roar—”

This sound, like thunder, made the entire arena seem as if it was trembling in an earthquake—

Inside the arena, every team, every player, all shrank their necks, silent as chickens, nobody daring to make a move.

The Flame Beast let out a long roar, warning any potential enemies lurking around, before it swaggered up to the mountaintop.

In the blink of an eye, the Flame Beast disappeared without a trace.

But!!!

Not a single team moved, everyone still hiding, not daring to make the slightest sound.

...

A team relatively close to the Flame Beast’s recent outbreak looked at each other, all understanding that it was not wise to stay here for long. Following that, the Captain commanded, ”Retreat, first to the foot of the mountain.”

Just as the team moved, suddenly—

Rumble—

The ground began to tremble again, as if the mountain was splitting and the earth was cracking. The Captain’s face changed, ”Not good! Run!”

However—

It was too late, in the blink of an eye, the vanished Flame Beast reappeared. Its pair of blood-red eyes glared at the team of 10 people, opened its mouth, and suddenly spat out a torrent of corrosive saliva.

Splatter—

The splashing corrosive saliva, like rain, instantly enveloped the team, followed by the Flame Beast biting down, directly capturing two Mechas, clack—

The Mechas instantly shattered into pieces, the pilots escaping from the broken cockpits, but within seconds, they were corroded by the following saliva.

Despite the team’s members reacting swiftly, all coming together to combat the Flame Beast, the beast was too powerful, almost impossible to approach, and long-range attacks completely ineffective. Watching comrades fall one by one, the Captain gritted his teeth and said, ”Two people, come with me to Self-Destruct. The rest of you, run as far as you can!”

Regrettably—

The Captain and two teammates self-destructed, yet only managed to blow off a bit of Flame Beast’s fur, not causing it any significant harm.

...

Annihilated.

Another annihilation.

Silence.

Very quiet.

Silence spread through the arena and the audience—

After a while.

The audience seats began to speak up:

Audience A: ”This—can’t really be an annihilation, can it?”

Audience B: ”If it’s an annihilation, how can we determine the winner?”

Audience C: ”If all are annihilated, where’s the win or lose? Everyone loses!”

Audience D: ”I judged wrong earlier, I think this isn’t a competition for the third grade, this should be a fourth-grade event, right?”

Following which, they unanimously declared: ”This year’s first-year students, so tragic!”

...

The Flame Beast wiped out a team and roared into the air once more before shaking its body and running majestically toward the mountain top.

The entire arena was silent as a chicken, no more teams making even the slightest noise. Because—everyone realized this damn Flame Beast was cunning beyond belief, it even knew how to fish!

Wasn’t the team from the West District that just got annihilated the unlucky eggs preyed on by the Flame Beast’s fishing tactic?

After a long while.

About 5000 meters in the direction from where Ji You and the others were hiding in the cave, sudden rustling sounds emerged!

Ji You and the others looked alert, Yue Qiguang asking, ”Who?”

Shen Changqing peered through the gaps blocking the cave entrance and suddenly paused, ”It’s Little Shengsheng.”

Chu Jiaojiao was startled, ”Ah? Her?”

Lou exclaimed, ”How did she come over here?”

Yue Qiyuan’s eyes darkened slightly, ”Has our location been discovered?”

For a moment, the entire team was a bit chaotic, but it was only for an instant as they quickly regained some composure. Only Ji You was calm, gesturing with her hand, ”What are you afraid of? Little Shengsheng coming here means our ally has arrived.”

Yue Qiguang was a bit skeptical, ”How do you know she’s an ally, not an enemy?”

Ji You rolled her eyes, ”Even a pig would understand—would she dare to start a fight with our team now? Even if she were Three-headed and Six-armed, she wouldn’t make noise to draw the Flame Beast’s attention. And—”

Ji You paused briefly, then continued, ”It’s Little Shengsheng herself who came over, not just one of her teammates; this clearly shows her sincerity.”

A team captain, the core member of a team, running alone into enemy territory, seeking death?

Of course not.

So, there’s only one possibility: she’s here seeking cooperation.

Having said that, others who hadn’t yet understood also quickly grasped this layer, Yue Qiguang frowned, ”If she really wants to cooperate with our team, should we refuse?”

Ji You’s mouth twitched, unable to help herself, ”Silly! Why refuse? Such a great collaborator; we should be hand-in-hand, all good friends here.”

”Cough...” Hearing the Rag Queen’s off-key talk of hand-in-hand and good friends, several people in the venue choked, Zhang Ye especially, who coughed harshly, then said, ”But—we can’t possibly be good friends with them.”

The arena, it’s either you die or I live, where does friendship come from?

Besides, this is a competition, and there’s only one team that can emerge as the ultimate victor. Only one, with no ties for first place.

Ji You turned to Zhang Ye, shaking her head and sighing, ”Ah~ to this day, I’ve realized there are so many fools in our team, I kind of regret it now. I wonder if it’s too late to switch to Little Shengsheng’s team?”

Everyone: ”...”

”Cough...” Shen Changqing, a bit uncomfortable upon hearing Ji You’s words, quickly said, ”Let’s not talk about this. We definitely need to cooperate.”

Ji You grinned, heh heh, and praised, ”Qing is still the smartest.”

Shen Changqing: ”...”

Does that compliment sound awkward?

On the side, Chu Jiaojiao pondered for a moment, then asked, ”How do we cooperate?”

”Shush—” Shen Changqing said, ”She’s here.”

Everyone immediately shut their mouths.

Then, rustling sounds came from the cave entrance, and soon, they heard Little Shengsheng’s clear voice, straightforwardly asking without beating around the bush, ”Qing, want to cooperate?”

Shen Changqing turned to his teammates, Ji You raising her hand, saying, ”I’ll go!”

Shen Changqing nodded.

Ji You squeezed a smile on her face and opened the crack, warmly saying, ”Wow! Little Shengsheng, you’re finally here.”

As the gap opened, a gust of wind blew in from the entrance, bringing the pungent smell of Stinky Grass. Little Shengsheng was about to speak but instantly clammed up, ”...”
