Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1605: A Week Later

A week passed quickly.

Luo Yunxiao and Zhang Fei were still in the ninth challenge, and they showed no signs of finishing yet.

Helian Xun’er, Nalan Wangzi, Tianshi Shengjie, and Yue Xuelian had just completed their eighth challenge after ten days. At first, they thought it would be easy to complete, but they struggled to overcome the enemies blocking their path.

The four women did not immediately start their ninth challenge, and they chose to recover their soul power first because the previous fight drained a lot of their soul power.

”Did you guys also struggle with the previous challenge?”

Helian Xun’er nodded to Tianshi Shengjie. ”The enemies that appeared before me were too terrifying, and I briefly considered giving up on the challenge. However, retreating would have left me far behind, so I persisted until I finally passed it.”

”Me too,” Nalan Wangzhi sighed. ”I didn’t expect to encounter Mo Shentian and several other demon gods in the previous challenge, and they beat me until I was completely helpless.”

”How did you finally get through it?”

”Him.” Nalan Wangzi pointed to Zhang Fei. ”I don’t know how it happened, but he appeared in my challenge and helped me through it. Otherwise, I would definitely fail to pass it, and I would have to do it all over again in the future.”

Tianshi Shengjie and the others looked at Zhang Fei, wondering how he could appear in Nalan Wangzi’s challenge.

”You guys don’t need to be confused by that.” They looked at Dugu Yuanshen. ”That young man didn’t actually appear in her challenge, but he appeared there because of her trust in him. You’re truly fortunate that you have such strong trust in him; otherwise, you would have failed the previous challenge.”

Nalan Wangzi smiled at him. ”Senior, he is my husband, and he has helped me a lot over the past years, so I have full trust in him.”

”However, the ninth challenge is more difficult than the previous ones, and the tenth challenge will be even more difficult, so you should prepare yourself better before starting it.” Dugu Yuanshen pointed at Zhang Fei and Luo Yunxiao. ”That young lady has been in her challenge for ten days, and that young man has been there for seven days.”

Helian Xun’er, Nalan Wangzi, and Tianshi Shengjie sighed to themselves because Luo Yunxiao was the best among them since they entered the tower, and she had previously managed to complete all the challenges in front of her much faster than anyone else, including Zhang Fei.

”You guys should rest first and restore your soul power before you start the ninth challenge.”

”Thank you for your advice, Senior.”

”No problem.”

Tianshi Shengjie turned her head to Yue Xuelian, who was watching the people from the Celestial Moon Sect who had already begun their first challenge. ”What are you thinking, Sect Master Yue?”

”Three weeks have passed since Yue Ningxue departed from the Divine Samsara Sect, and she’s probably already arrived in this domain by now.” Yue Xuelian sighed.

Tianshi Shengjie understood Yue Xuelian’s worries, and she embraced her shoulders. ”Sect Master Yue, you don’t need to worry about that woman, okay? Zhang Fei’s two clones are out there, and I know his abilities very well, so I’m sure he can stop her. Moreover, all your sect members are already on the second floor, and it will not be easy for her to reach this place.”

”You don’t know the strength and abilities of Yue Ningxue, Princess Tianshi.” Yue Xuelian looked at her. ”Do you think she’s just an ordinary woman? She managed to reach the third floor of this tower when she wasn’t that strong yet, and I’m sure her strength has increased even higher than at that time.”

Tianshi Shengjie nodded in understanding and spoke to her again. ”I’m not underestimating Yue Ningxue, but I believe in Zhang Fei. In fact, I’m not the only one who believes in his abilities, but my emperor and my father also believe in him. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about that woman and leave everything to him, and I believe he can handle her.”

”I hope you’re right, Princess Tianshi.”

”Alright, let’s not think about that woman anymore, okay? We should focus on recovering our soul power to proceed to the ninth challenge.”

”Yes.”

Feng Yao, Long Wuzhao, Tianshi Bailong, Long Xukong, Su Shentian, Jian Kuang, and Zhuxian Sheng stood in front of the first-floor stairs, with their attention focused on the demons of the three demon races.

The cultivators who had previously challenged the tower had vanished; some had successfully reached the second floor, while others had failed.

”Do we need to fight them here? If we let these demons climb to the second floor, they will attack the people undergoing the challenge there, and they won’t be able to escape.”

Feng Yao shook her head at Long Xukong. ”They are experienced cultivators, so they should be aware of their situation. We’ve already protected them on the first floor, so we won’t be protecting them anymore on the second floor, and we’ll only be protecting the people from the Twin Flames Domain. If they feel the situation is too dangerous for them, they should surrender, and the tower will send them out like the previous cultivators.”

”Are the people from the Twin Flames Domain the only ones who matter to you, Empress Huo?”

Feng Yao looked at Long Xukong. ”Why should I care about other cultivators? They’ve been cultivating for so long, and many of them have caused trouble throughout the domains, especially those from the Divine Samsara Sect. If they can’t handle a situation like this on their own, they should just cripple their cultivation and live as ordinary humans.”

”You—”

Long Wuzhao grabbed Long Xukong’s shoulder. ”You don’t need to argue with her, Brother Xukong. If Empress Huo isn’t willing to protect them, the three of us will protect them ourselves.”

Feng Yao didn’t say anything else, leading Su Shentian, Jian Kuang, and Zhuxian Sheng to the second floor directly.

”She never changes, Brother Wuzhao.” Tianshi Bailong looked at the demons still in the middle of the first floor. ”I think we don’t need to fight them here, and we should face them at the door of the second floor.”

Long Wuzhao glanced at the demons for a moment before leading Tianshi Bailong and Long Xukong to the second floor. ”Let’s go, Brothers.”

.

.

.

”Damn it! This task should have been easy, but their arrival ruined everything.” Ku Yu looked at the two grand elders. ”What should we do now? Many cultivators have already surrendered and have been sent out by the tower, and we won’t be able to attack the remaining cultivators as long as those three damn dragons are protecting them.”

Ku Shan sighed. ”I’ve discussed this matter with my demon god, and he asked us to do our best to capture as many cultivators as possible. He also told me that he’s already sent additional reinforcements, but they’ll still need a few days to arrive, and they’ll also have to overcome all the challenges on this first floor.”

”Instead of thinking about that, we should reach the second stair quickly because we’ve wasted too much time here.” Ku Yin said.

”Let’s go!”

.

.

.

”What do you think about this situation, Grand Elder Kuang?”

Qian Kuang could only shake his head at Qian Yu. ”We must remain restrained ourselves, Prince. The strength of Empress Huo, Long Wuzhao, and the two dragons is equal to, or even superior to, my demon god. If we force ourselves like those of the Torture Demon Race, we will face great trouble, and we might even die here.”

”We contacted our demon god several days ago, but he has not given any instructions to this day.” Qian Hufeng said.

Unlike Ku Yu, Qian Yu was much more patient and understanding of the situation, so he didn’t force himself to attack those people. ”If I think about it, all the cultivators who were sent out of this tower should still be out there, right? Instead of forcing ourselves to go to the second floor, I think we should capture those who are outside.”

”I’m not sure about that, Prince.” Qian Hufeng looked at the entrance. ”If those people are smart, they won’t stay any longer in this domain, and they will return to their respective domains directly.”

”In that case, we should head to the second floor as soon as possible, but we won’t make a move right away, and we’ll assess the situation first. If we act recklessly, Long Wuzhao and the two dragons will definitely attack us directly.” The two grand elders agreed with Qian Yu. ”How’s your situation, Sister?”

Qian Qin shook her head at her brother. ”I’m fine, Brother. You don’t need to think too much about me, and we can continue our challenge.”

”Let’s go then.”

.

.

.

The demons of the Heavenly Fiend Demon Race were much calmer than those of the other two demon races.

Sha Huo had already contacted his father, and Sha Mo asked him to abandon their plans if the situation became too dangerous. ”Grand Elder Huoran, we will surrender if the situation is not in our favor, and we will return to our domain.”

”Yes, Prince.”

”What about you, Qingge?” Sha Huo asked his sister.

”Hehe,” Sha Qingge laughed. ”I felt overwhelmed at first, Brother. However, I’ve gotten used to all the challenges on this first floor, and I’m increasingly enjoying myself as I complete every one of them.”

Sha Huo nodded smilingly. ”We’re not in a hurry to go to the second floor because the situation there is too dangerous, so you can enjoy your time and complete all the challenges.”

”Yes, Brother.”
