Chapter 2636: A Darkness Deeper than Daytime Understands

The grand tomb, towering with a hundred floors above and below, was swiftly completed. The Heavenly Dao had personally overseen its construction, making it the most formidable project in existence.

“It’s finished,” the Immortal murmured softly, as if speaking to himself yet also addressing someone.

Song Shuhang felt a stir in his heart at the words.

Had the Immortal sensed his presence? After all, he had experienced similar situations many times before… ever since Daoist Priest Scarlet Heaven entered his dream to impart the “Heaven Burning Flaming Saber Technique,” he had been caught in such situations by prominent figures numerous times in the dream.

“May I ask your name, senior?” Song Shuhang tentatively inquired in his mind. His past experiences had taught him that these prominent figures could engage in a special ‘cross-temporal’ communication if they sensed ‘him’ observing.

However, the Immortal did not respond to his query.

“Before me, each Heavenly Dao constructed a tomb for themselves. I used to be unable to understand, but now I comprehend to some extent. Building this tomb is not just about burying one’s past; it’s also an indispensable part of their pursuit of ‘transcending immortality.’ As for me, my attempt to reverse the karma of myriad worlds seems to have been a failure,” the Immortal murmured softly.

Transcending immortality… It was something pursued by figures like

Heavenly Dao’s Three Eyes, Heavenly Dao’s Eggface Father, Heavenly Dao’s White, and the Nine Nether’s Fat Ball.

At present, Song Shuhang only knew that White, the Wielder of the M/ill, had successfully transcended half a step.

The Eggface Father hadn’t achieved immortality, but he seemed to have successfully stepped down from the position of the Wielder of the Will.

Even the Three-Eyed Youth didn’t know what the Heavenly Dao of the Three Eyes was like.

There was once a Heavenly Dao of Virtue, fated with Senior White, but according to White’s account, the Heavenly Dao of Virtue had completely dissipated.

The Fat Ball’s Heavenly Dao had collapsed completely. Even the Nine Nether Fat Ball had dispersed, leaving behind only a clone, ‘Dominating Ball,’ battling on Mars.

“Constructing a tomb for oneself is also an important step towards transcendence?” Song Shuhang pondered.

To be honest, he didn’t hold much hope for the position of [Wielder of the Will]. At least from the current perspective, it wasn’t a position one could take up or leave at will.

But with his cautious nature, it wouldn’t hurt to make some preparations. After all, everyone would eventually die, and he, Tyrannical Song, would likely die many times in the future. If by some chance they encountered a

‘resurrection countdown,’ it would be good to have a tomb ready for use.

“Alright, after I enter, let’s end it,” the Immortal said softly.

With that, he pushed open the ethereal yet tangible tomb door and strode inside… As he stepped into the tomb, his sense of presence began to diminish.

The Immortal’s state became peculiar, as if he were on the verge of disappearing.

However, this time, the camera didn’t follow into the ‘tomb tower.’ It was as if someone was recording the scene.

The door of the tomb tower slowly closed, and the dream scene began to dim. Squeak… the tomb door closed.

At that moment, the Immortal suddenly turned around. His hand plunged into the gap of the closed door, forcibly pulling it open again.

The karmic fire on the Immortal’s body turned pitch-black, shrouding his face… but a pair of emotionless eyes, as cold as machinery, peeked out from within the flames.

The Immortal glanced at the dim dream screen before his figure suddenly dashed into the distance, disappearing from view.

The meticulously crafted ‘tomb tower’ was abandoned just like that.

In Song Shuhangs puzzled expression, the dream came to an end.

“Is this turning into a suspenseful horror movie series with a cliffhanger at the end?”

“And the coordinates of the ‘hundred-floor tomb tower’ were never revealed. It’s such a shame to abandon such a massive tomb… How much would it be worth?” Song Shuhang felt a pang of regret.

Unable to breathe due to his sorrow, he was forced to awaken from the dream. As he opened his eyes, Song Shuhang realized he was blind.

His right eye had turned to glass, shattered completely. The Scholarly Sage’s

eye in his left eye had also powered off, entering a dormant state.

“Thankfully, I’m no longer just an ordinary Profound Sage. 1 don’t rely on my eyes to ‘see’ anymore,” Song Shuhang thought to himself. Using his divine sense, he could perceive things even more clearly than with his naked eyes.

Thus, Song Shuhangs divine sense lightly swept the area.

Huh? Why was it still so dark?

Could it be that even my divine sense is blind? Was the aftermath of staring directly at the Law of Immortality in the dream world so severe?

“It’s understandable, after all, it’s the Law of Immortality. It’s impressive,”

Song Shuhang thought to himself. “Fortunately, I still have one last resort.”

Here comes my divine third eye!

His divine third eye opened between his eyebrows, surveying the surroundings in place of his eyes and divine sense. Yet, it remained dark, the kind of darkness that even daytime didn’t comprehend..
