Chapter 2523: What Merit and Ability Does My Clueless Disciple Have?!

After the hand-guided tractor came to a halt, a tall Western monk and a sage-like Taoist priest stepped out of the car.

“Is this the place? I can already sense a wicked aura coming from it,” the Western monk remarked in thickly accented Mandarin.

“Yeah, this is it… According to our research, the malevolent spirits here might be suppressed by the light of virtue,” the sage-like Taoist priest said with a

tone of concern.

“So, this is where I come in, Master!” the Western monk exclaimed while patting his chest and laughing heartily.

The Taoist priest touched his chest at the thought of his disciple finally being of use, though not without a sense of melancholy.

“Alright, I’m going in, Master!” the Western monk donned an emerald- green kasaya and, with a swift motion, produced a large Vajra Demon Subduing Pestle in his hand.

The Taoist priest’s face turned purple.

Eventually, he let out a sigh and signaled to the guards.

The guards extended their arms, opening the entrance gate and watching as the monk and his entourage entered the old campus.

At that moment, the old campus area was shrouded in a thick white fog, creating an eerie atmosphere.

Once the monk and his group had entered, the guards carefully closed the gate.

“By the way, did the master just refer to that Taoist priest as ‘Master?” asked a square-faced man on the left, disbelief in his voice.

He wondered if there was something wrong with his hearing.

“No, you heard correctly. We all heard it clearly. The master addressed him as ‘Master’ several times,” replied the long-faced man on the right.

“Master of what? Buddhism?” nodded the square-faced man, still perplexed.

The long-faced man simply shook his head in disbelief.

“By the way, do any of you know how to operate a hand-guided tractor? Can someone at least move this hand-guided tractor to the side?” another guard inquired.

“Don’t, don’t touch it. These hand-guided tractors are cursed. Avoid touching

them at all costs,” the long-faced man warned, his voice filled with more dread than when discussing Xie Wang.

Evidently, contact with an expert had left a lasting impact on this individual.

“So, let’s leave this hand-guided tractor here,” he advised.

A few minutes later, a series of explosions echoed through the old campus, accompanied by the sounds of buildings collapsing.

“It seems that the Taoist priest, the master, and Xie Wang have crossed paths,” the square-faced man said with a deep voice.

He pondered whether the Taoist priest’s disciple, brought here by the master, could address the malevolent presence in this place.

If they failed to find a solution, Xie Wang within the old campus might break free from the suppression defense circle.

Their responsibility was to guard this place, and they could feel the mounting pressure within the old campus.

Strange sounds filled their ears daily, increasing in frequency from once a day to more than ten times a day.

Without their specialized training, they would have been overwhelmed long ago.

A chorus of roars echoed throughout the campus.

These were the cries of Xie Wang, not just one voice but dozens or even hundreds joining in unison.

The Xie Wang here represented the fusion and evolution of numerous malevolent entities which made it the most formidable challenge for cultivators.

“If I don’t go to hell, who will?” the master’s voice rang out suddenly.

Simultaneously, a brilliant light erupted from the old campus and cast a warm glow that seemed like applause from the entire world.

The evil roars instantly diminished in intensity.

“It’s effective. Keep it up!” the Taoist priest urged calmly.

“Come on, come and face me!” the grandmaster continued, beginning to recite a rapid stream of scriptures in the rhythm of a temple master’s chant. The words were in English, but delivered at such speed that they were incomprehensible to ordinary ears.

It was clear that these were not traditional Buddhist scriptures.

The Taoist priest was growing weary.

“Damn it!” the Western monk yelled while tossing his Buddha beads into the air. Each bead emitted a radiant Buddhist light.

“Master, I can’t hold on any longer!” the Western monk shouted to the Taoist priest after releasing the beads.

The Taoist priest was at a loss for words.

“While the power of virtue can suppress these malevolent spirits, my own virtue is still insufficient. Let’s retreat for now and gather fellow cultivators with strong virtue to form a formation. Together, we can eradicate the malevolence in this place!” the grandmaster proclaimed.

“Let’s go!” the Taoist priest raised the Western monk’s kasaya and dragged him away.

Originally, their purpose had been to test whether the power of virtue could control the malevolent spirits here. They had never anticipated that the Western monk would be able to handle the local malevolent entities.

As long as they could confirm that virtue had an effect on the malevolence in this place, they could formulate a plan to completely eliminate it.

“Not good, Master. Xie Wang are pursuing us!” the Western monk exclaimed.

Xie Wang, suppressed by the sealing spell, was now forcefully attempting to break free, latching onto the Western monk and refusing to let go,

While the power of virtue could suppress the local malevolence, it could also provoke it.

“Everyone, retreat!” the Taoist priest commanded in a solemn tone.

He pushed the Western monk out of the old campus and activated the second layer of defensive seals on the ground.

To prevent Xie Wang from escaping the old campus, multiple layers of defense had been established.

After all the guards and the Western monk had retreated, the Taoist priest swiftly activated layer after layer of defensive seals to contain Xie Wang.

“Contact my senior brother and inform him that Xie Wang is causing trouble. Send reinforcements to suppress Xie Wang immediately. Furthermore, while virtue can subdue Xie Wang, it can also incite him. In our next operation, we must eliminate Xie Wang decisively, or the consequences will be dire,” the Taoist priest instructed the Western monk.

“Understood, Master!” The Western monk retrieved his phone but, instead of dialing a number, he gazed up at the sky absentmindedly.

“What are you waiting for?” the Taoist priest, still focused on the defensive seals, snapped at his seemingly dazed disciple.

“Hello, Senior Song!” the Western monk suddenly raised his hand and waved at the sky.

The Taoist priest furrowed his brow, looking up at the sky as well.

From above, several figures descended on swords, sabers, and lotuses.

Although the leader wore a mask, his attire, the distinctive black lotus, and the stone tablet magic tool hanging from his waist revealed his identity.

“Oh, it’s you. Master, it’s been a while,” Song Shuhang greeted the Western

monk with a laugh.

The Taoist priest was left speechless.

How could his seemingly foolish disciple be addressed as ‘Master’ by Senior Tyrannical Song?
