Primordial Slime: I Devour The World

Far away from the battle, deep within the Eldoris Dominion Dungeon. In a place no being had ever entered, a crack appeared on a sealed door. A domineering aura seeped out of the the door and several monsters around the area suddenly got drained of energy. The door exploded and in it there’s a creature displayed in an embryo form, the mana from this creature was capable of killing lesser creatures and possibly higher beings too. The creature was a dragon. It was humongous. It’s wings alone covered half the room. There was no visible core on its body. It’s horns came out several centimeters from its head and it had a powerful build. The dragon had red scales and sharp claws. It was still asleep but mana from the battle was seeping back to the dungeon, the dragon would soon awaken.

The slime was destroying... devouring everything coming towards him. Tanaka’s soul record updated continuously as new skills from the devoured soldiers entered him, most were low level but more skills entered and upgraded them but he didn’t bother checking. His mind was on the soldiers, not allowing a single one escape.

Tanaka voice in the mental network was cold and emotionless. ”I’ll do this alone.” Raizen knew, the humans had made a mistake but he wouldn’t leave Tanaka alone. He stood proud and howled. Every wolf in Eldoris came running. Even those who were injured came. The network was filled with angry voices directed at the humans.

This is our home.

We are not hiding.

We are not running.

We will fight.

Tanaka smiled. If a slime could smile that is.

”Fine then, let’s protect our home.” And so the battle turned. The soldiers were brutally killed by the wolves while Tanaka Devour was leaving no trace. Tanaka decided to search deeply for Gareth. He activated Mana Sense. His mana sense covered the entire Eldoris and still couldn’t find Gareth. Instead he got a sense of dread from the dungeon and he quickly looked away. The dungeon had evolved of recent and not all floors had been conquered and so ignored it.

Suddenly a powerful presence filled the environment. Tanaka didn’t bother as he had seen him through mana sense. ”You finally decided to stop hiding, Gareth.”

Indeed it was Gareth and behind him were seven figures. Six of them were not humans that was sure. Their pig like faces reminded Tanaka of a certain race in one of the games he had played. Why was Gareth with the orcs? The fourth was human, one whom Tanaka had come to hate, Calian. ”Hello so called Great One, I am Razer, the orc lord of my tribe. I couldn’t believe a slime was also a monster lord like me but it doesn’t matter.”

The orc lord had a name and was intelligent. No wonder. Tanaka could sense overwhelming bloodlust from the orc lord. He looked at Gareth and Calian. Calian looked down, seems he wasn’t aware of it. Gareth must have left the battle to find the orc lord. Gareth smiled. ”I wanted to see, how would the battle between two monster lords go. Don’t blame me. I only want to test your strength. Don’t worry, I’ll fight the winner.”

Tanaka couldn’t see Razer’s soul record, of course not, only monsters linked to his domain could he see their records. He just couldn’t see the records of every monster in existence. The orc lord growled as a red aura covered his body. His brown skinned body became red and hardened. And then he charged. Tanaka barely had enough time to raise his arms.

BOOM!

The impact sent him flying. His body crashed through several trees before finally stopping against the ground. Dirt covered his body as he slowly stood. Razer was already there. The Orc Lord swung his fist. Tanaka crossed his arms.

BOOM!

The ground beneath him cracked. Tanaka was pushed backward. ”So this is the strength of an Orc Lord,” Tanaka muttered. Razer grinned. ”You’re weaker than I expected.” He charged again. Tanaka moved to the side. Razer’s fist missed his head by a few centimeters and destroyed the tree behind him. Tanaka immediately countered with his sword.

CLANG!

The blade struck Razer’s hardened arm. It barely left a mark. Razer grabbed the sword and pulled. Tanaka released it before he could be dragged forward. The Orc Lord laughed. ”Is that all?” Tanaka said nothing. He wasn’t interested in answering. Razer attacked again.

Tanaka dodged another punch. He moved away and jumped backward. Razer became increasingly aggressive. ”Stop running!” Tanaka’s eyes narrowed. He wasn’t running, he was observing. Razer’s attacks were powerful, but predictable. More importantly, every attack brought the Orc Lord closer. Tanaka smiled. He didn’t need to overpower Razer. He only needed to consume him. Razer charged once more. The Orc Lord’s fist struck his body.

DEVOUR.

A portion of Razer’s energy disappeared. Tanaka felt it enter his body. His own energy recovered slightly. Razer stopped. ”What did you do?” Tanaka didn’t answer. Razer attacked again. Tanaka allowed another hit.

DEVOUR.

Another portion disappeared. Tanaka’s eyes sharpened. It worked. Razer’s expression changed. He attacked again. Tanaka moved away. The Orc Lord’s fist missed. ”Fight me!”

Razer roared angrily and charged. Tanaka moved toward him instead. Their bodies collided.

DEVOUR.

Razer suddenly felt something leave his body. He jumped backward. ”What are you?”

Tanaka stood there silently. Razer stared at him. The Orc Lord looked uncertain. Gareth, who had been watching from a distance, smiled. ”Interesting.” Calian looked at him. ”What is interesting?” Gareth didn’t answer.

Razer clenched his fists. His red aura grew stronger. ”You think that little trick will defeat me?” Tanaka watched him carefully.

Razer’s aura suddenly changed. He turned toward the Orcs. The Orcs froze. ”What is he doing?” Tanaka’s eyes narrowed.

Razer opened his mouth. A powerful force erupted from his body. The nearest Orc was pulled toward him. ”Lord Razer!” The Orc screamed. His body disappeared into Razer. Energy surged through the Orc Lord. His muscles expanded. His red skin became darker. His aura exploded outward. Tanaka’s expression changed. ”What the...” Razer laughed. ”My unique skill.” He looked at Tanaka. ”War Eater.”

The remaining Orcs stepped backward. One tried to run. Razer’s aura pulled another one toward him. ”No, my Lord!” The Orc disappeared. Another wave of energy entered Razer. Tanaka watched in silence. He understood immediately. Razer was consuming his own soldiers. Not to heal himself but to become stronger. Razer’s body grew larger. His muscles became even more powerful. The ground cracked beneath his feet. His aura covered the battlefield.

”You wanted to consume me?” Razer asked with a grin. ”Then try consuming this.” He disappeared.

BOOM!

Tanaka was struck before he could react. His body flew through the air. He crashed into the ground. Razer appeared above him. His fist came down. Tanaka rolled away.

BOOM!

The ground exploded. Tanaka bounced several meters away. His body reshaped itself as he stood. Razer was already attacking.

Punch.

Kick.

Elbow.

Tanaka avoided each attack by the smallest possible distance. He couldn’t fight Razer directly. Not anymore. War Eater had made him stronger. But Tanaka had discovered something else. Razer’s power was enormous. Which meant there was more for Devourer to consume. Tanaka waited. Razer swung. Tanaka stepped forward. Their bodies touched.

DEVOUR.

Razer’s expression changed. A portion of his energy vanished. Tanaka immediately retreated. Razer charged. Tanaka dodged.n Then he moved back in.

DEVOUR.

Another portion disappeared. Razer growled. ”You...” He swung and Tanaka ducked.

DEVOUR.

Razer staggered. His breathing became heavier. Tanaka noticed. The Orc Lord’s movements were slightly slower. His attacks were slightly weaker. The energy he had gained through War Eater was enormous.

But Devourer was eating through it. Razer roared and attacked with everything he had. Tanaka didn’t retreat. He allowed the punch to hit his body.

DEVOUR.

A massive amount of energy entered Tanaka. Razer froze. His eyes widened. Tanaka’s body stopped moving. His Magic Core pulsed. His energy surged. Razer stared at him. ”You’re...” Tanaka slowly raised his head. The Orc Lord finally understood. Every time he attacked. Every time he tried to overwhelm the slime. He was feeding him. Razer’s expression hardened. ”You’re a predator.”

Tanaka looked at him. ”No.” He stepped forward. ”I’m a Devourer.” Razer roared. He gathered every remaining bit of power in his body. His red aura exploded outward. He charged. Tanaka didn’t move. Razer’s fist came toward his face. At the last moment, Tanaka’s body changed. The fist passed through him. Tanaka wrapped himself around Razer’s arm.

DEVOUR.

Razer’s eyes widened. His energy began disappearing rapidly. ”Get off me!” He tried shaking Tanaka away. Tanaka held on.

DEVOUR.

More energy vanished. Razer’s aura weakened. His massive body began shrinking. The Orc Lord fell to one knee. Tanaka released him. Razer slammed his fist into the ground. He tried to stand. His legs shook. He couldn’t move a step. Tanaka stood before him. The battlefield had gone quiet. The remaining Orcs stared at their lord. The monsters of Eldoris watched Tanaka. Raizen’s eyes narrowed.

Great One...

Tanaka didn’t respond.

His Soul Record suddenly appeared before him.

[Experience has reached the required threshold.]

[Devourer Lv.6 has accumulated sufficient energy.]

[Evolution conditions approaching.]

Tanaka stared at the message.

He could feel it. Something inside his Magic Core was changing. He was close. Very close. But he ignored it. His eyes moved toward Gareth. The berserker was still standing there. Still smiling. Gareth laughed. ”Now that’s interesting.” Calian looked confused. ”You aren’t going to help him?” Gareth shook his head. ”No.” He looked at the exhausted Orc Lord. ”I wanted to see what would happen.” Tanaka tightened his grip. Razer slowly raised his head.

His eyes met Tanaka’s. He no longer looked at the slime as a weak monster. He looked at him as something dangerous. Something he had never encountered before. Tanaka looked back at Gareth. The battle with Razer was over.

But the war wasn’t.
