Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1838: Chapter 1388: Observation

Returning to his family, Li Zhirui rarely showed himself, choosing instead to stay silently in his cave mansion, seizing the opportunity to comprehend the laws as his understanding deepened, so much so that many family members were unaware of his presence.

However, after secluding himself for hundreds of years, he had to halt his cultivation.

For the return of the Three Disasters and Nine Calamities from twelve hundred years ago had arrived once again!

This time, it was a plague.

When the plague struck, a peculiar miasma surfaced within Li Zhirui, rapidly developing into indescribable symptoms: deep green blisters, scarlet rashes, exuding a foul stench, appearing utterly terrifying and frightening.

Initially, he made no moves, as if surrendering, allowing the plague to ravage his body uncontrollably.

As he succumbed, his aura grew weaker, the once vigorous flame of life dimmed, appearing as though he was nearing death.

Yet, if one looked past Li Zhirui’s physical form into his Sea of Consciousness, it was clear he hadn’t been idle.

In the calm Sea of Consciousness, his Spiritual Soul sat atop a pure white lotus, emanating a gentle white light, protecting the all-important soul.

The Visualization Skill “Divine Turtle Calming the Sea,” which he had practiced early on, had long become obsolete, unable to keep pace with his progress. Thus, Li Zhirui had devised a new Observation Method, “White Lotus Purifying World,” more suited to him, and of a higher grade.

Now, the rampant plague and pathogens had invaded from his body into his Sea of Consciousness.

Once inside, the ghastly pathogens rapidly adapted, expanding swiftly in the new environment.

Soon, the Sea of Consciousness was covered with a thick, multicolored layer of bacteria, resembling a vibrant carpet — beautiful yet perilously so!

As the bacteria expanded and reached Li Zhirui’s Spiritual Soul, the once surrendering Zhirui suddenly sprang into action.

His fingers danced swiftly, forming a spell with lightning speed. A pure, bright Purification Spiritual Light appeared in his palm, then slowly ascended like a sun rising over the Sea of Consciousness.

The bacteria, like a thin layer of spring snow encountering the scorching sun, melted even faster.

Spirit Light penetrated the Sea of Consciousness, erupting from Li Zhirui’s body, causing the rampant, ghastly pathogens to vanish instantly, as if meeting their nemesis!

Moments later, he slowly opened his eyes, sensing the changes within his body, a faint smile emerging on his face.

Truth be told, he had already harbored the notion of using the Three Disasters and Nine Calamities to temper himself!

In Li Zhirui’s view, the Three Disasters and Nine Calamities were no different from the Thunder Tribulation, both were tests by the Heavenly Dao for those cultivating spiritual life, merely that the former was easier, and the latter more difficult.

And if Thunder Power could be used for self-tempering, why not the Three Disasters and Nine Calamities?

Of course, this attempt was incredibly risky, as carelessness could lead to severe injury, or even death during the calamity.

Thus, Li Zhirui was quite hesitant internally, but unexpectedly, he encountered a plague, a calamity utterly countered by him!

So he immediately set aside his hesitation, using this calamity to test his ideas.

In any case, should things go awry, he could always rely on the powerful purification force to resolve the plague swiftly.

Fortunately, everything unfolded as Li Zhirui anticipated.

The plague’s invasion caused significant damage to both his body and Sea of Consciousness. By not resisting, he intended his body and Sea of Consciousness to combat it on their own. They were continuously damaged and repaired in this process.

Through this, they underwent refinement and strengthening!

Meanwhile, he constantly monitored his condition, striking decisively with powerful Purification Spiritual Light when the repair rate slowed to a near collapse, eliminating the plague and pathogens as swiftly as possible.

Although this method offered considerable improvement through external forces, one must note, the higher the cultivation, the greater the difficulty of advancement.

Especially for someone like Li Zhirui, a Heavenly Immortal, where a millennium of cultivation yielded mere inches of progress, a rather ordinary occurrence.

Even with its significant advantages, he had no plans of spreading this method, at least for now.

First, the method wasn’t perfected; spreading it recklessly could lead to severe consequences. Second, the method’s demands were too high, out of reach for any ordinary cultivator to master.

Even he himself resorted to exploiting his mastery of Purification Laws to utterly suppress this plague calamity, lacking any specific method or trick.

Only when Li Zhirui could completely perfect it, removing the danger, would he consider sharing it.

The catastrophic Qi pervading the cave mansion vanished without a trace as the plague was resolved, the rich, pure Spiritual Energy restored as before.

He gathered his mind, beginning to heal his injuries. The plague and pathogens left both his body and Sea of Consciousness in a battered state, requiring proper healing to prevent lingering threats.

…

As two flowers bloom, one on each branch.

Meanwhile, Jiang Fengwu, still training across the Primal Spirit Realm, was cautiously hiding in a certain corner as he studied Array Patterns everywhere.
