Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 637 - 643: Shock

Profound Ice Sect, inside the main hall of the sect.

”Sect Leader Elder Brother, will this idea of yours really work?” an Elder asked with some trepidation.

”Of course!”

Confident in his own cunning plan, the Sect Leader laughed, ”Although those mortals are as weak as ants, they have also created a splendid and colorful culture and left behind a very precious wealth.”

”This plan, I even learned it from the monarch of a fallen kingdom...”

If Zhirui had been here, he would have realized right away that this was nothing but the ploy of sowing discord among the lords!

Time and time again, disseminating false information to toy with the Devil Race, exhausting their patience, and then hitting them with the truth all of a sudden, how many of those fourth-order Great Devils would believe the words of an informant then?

Even if they believed, they would need some time to organize. Otherwise, just sending a few, or perhaps a dozen, the Profound Ice Sect could completely block them all.

And during this time, if it was a bit longer, perhaps Elder Uncleʼs Thunder Tribulation would already be over!

By then! Profound Ice Sect would be the sole ruler of the Extreme Eastern Corner! All the cultivator forces would submit!

Thinking about such a glorious future being realized by his own hands, becoming the third person after the founding ancestor and the reviving ancestor, the Sect Leaderʼs face couldnʼt help but reveal an uncontrollable splendid smile.

At first, several Elders had some doubts about this method, but seeing the Sect Leaderʼs reaction, they instantly dismissed the idea of raising any objections.

”Since everyone has no objections, letʼs deliberately let out the news,” said the Sect Leader, his eyes flashing with a piercing cold light, ʼAnd letʼs see how many evil spirits and devils we can blow out of hiding!ʼ

——

”Dang dang dang——”

A series of unusually urgent bell sounds rang out, abruptly awakening Zhirui, who was in the midst of cultivating.

Fortunately, his cultivation level was high now, and control over his mana was something he could command with ease; rarely did it ever surge out of control, so he immediately suppressed it.

”What major incident has happened?!”

Zhirui had just quelled the fluctuation of mana in his body when he flew out of the room, flung open the courtyard door, and was met with the sight of a very anxious and uneasy Li Darong.

”Elder Ancestor, itʼs not good! I heard that there is a Nascent Soul True Lord in the Profound Ice Sect who is about to undergo Tribulation to break through to the Divinity Transformation Realm.”

The reason he was so anxious was that the Profound Ice Sect always harbored some ulterior motives towards the Li family. In the past, it might have been just minor actions, but if a Divinity Transformation ancestor were to be born, the Li family would probably have to pay a huge price and bow down to preserve themselves.

”What?!” Zhiruiʼs complexion changed, and he hurriedly asked, ”Are you sure about this?”

”Itʼs news passed back by the familyʼs secret line, and it seems that many cultivators within the territory of the Profound Ice Sect already know about it.”

Hearing this, Zhirui couldnʼt help frowning. If the Profound Ice Sect really had a Nascent Soul making a breakthrough, they ought to keep it secret, after all, the Devil Race on both sides would definitely not agree with their deadliest enemy, the Profound Ice Sect, having a Divinity Transformation ancestor.

Could it be that this news was deliberately released by the Profound Ice Sect in an attempt to set up an ambush and take out a group of the Devil Race?

”This matter must be closely monitored! As soon as there is any accurate information, immediately report back to the family!” Zhirui ordered with a grave expression.

This matter was related to the familyʼs future development and even life and death; no amount of concern was too much.

”Yes! I will arrange it properly.”

Having said that, Li Darong hurried away with an anxious look.

And Li Zhirui, upon hearing this news, found himself unable to calm his mind for cultivation. Instead, he simply sat cross-legged on the cushion and undertook a brainstorm, pondering the impact of this event on his family clan.

If the Profound Ice Sect really had a Nascent Soul breakthrough, then there would be two possibilities, success or failure. The failure of the Tribulation Transcendence didnʼt bear consideration; the situation wouldnʼt change in the slightest.

Given the current strength of the Li family, they were far too weak compared to the Profound Ice Sect. One more or one less Nascent Soul Cultivator wouldnʼt make any noticeable difference.

However, if the Tribulation Transcendence was successful, there would be two scenarios for the family. One scenario was that the Profound Ice Sect wouldnʼt strike against the family, as long as they showed enough ”loyalty” and subservience, allowing the Li family to continue existing, albeit once again as a vassal.

The other scenario was a strike against the family. With the power between both sides being extremely uneven, if they didnʼt want to be annihilated, the only choice would be to abandon Wanxian Island and flee thousands of miles.

”No, thatʼs not right!”

A sudden flash of Spirit Light sparkled in Li Zhiruiʼs mind. ”I forgot to take the Devil Race into account!”

The Devil Race would definitely try their best to sabotage the Tribulation Transcendence and prevent the Profound Ice Sect from birthing a Divinity Transformation.

Then he shook his head and sighed. Unfortunately, he couldnʼt ally with the Devil Race. If the news leaked, both he and the Li family would be doomed!

The punishment for human race traitors was tremendously terrifying! Li Zhirui didnʼt even dare to entertain the slightest thought of collusion.

”We can only wait for intelligence and the reaction from the Devil Race,” Li Zhirui muttered under his breath.

After all, with the current strength of the Li family, they had absolutely no ability to hinder the Profound Ice Sect.

But, given the Li familyʼs few undercover agents within the territory of the Profound Ice Sect, the Devil Race must have already known about it by now.

——

Great Snow Mountain, within a hidden peak.

If someone were to come in, they would discover that there were dozens of fourth-order Great Devils!

Because their true forms were too large, the valley couldnʼt accommodate them, so they had taken on human forms instead.

”Fellows, do you think the news released by the Profound Ice Sect is true or false?” The first to speak was a devil with sparse eyebrows, small and fierce eyes, giving off an impression of slyness and craftiness.

”I think itʼs false. The purpose is very likely to be a trap, to lie in ambush and kill us,” said a seductive female devil, with a gentle and soft voice. ”If it was true, they definitely wouldnʼt make such a big fuss about it.”

”Sister Hu speaks very wisely!”

Several Great Devils immediately voiced their agreement, their gazes hotly fixed on her as they lingered on her shapely body.

”But we canʼt be sure they didnʼt anticipate our speculation, thinking we wouldnʼt take action. They might then invite the Thunder Tribulation, catching us off guard,” a female devil of ordinary appearance and robust stature countered.

Whether she truly believed that or opposed it out of jealousy of the Fox Devilʼs beauty, only she knew the answer.

”Sister Bai also makes a good point,” the Fox Devil said, not at all offended but instead agreeing with the latterʼs guess.

However, this response only irritated the other female devil even more. If it wasnʼt for all the fourth-order Great Devils being present, she would have taken the chance to give that sly fox a severe lesson.

The argument went unresolved, continuing for an entire day without reaching a conclusion. In the end, each had to act according to their own will.

This incident clearly showed how disorganized the internal workings of the Devil Race were!

It was hardly surprising, given that in this world, strength was paramount, even more so for the Devil Race.

They were all fourth-order Great Devils. Even if there were discrepancies in strength, they werenʼt significant enough to completely overpower one another. With that being the case, why should they listen to someone else?
