Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 411 - 417: Development

Especially within the nearby State Domains, itʼs almost impossible to encounter a Nascent Soul True Lord, because they are either comprehending and cultivating on Spirit Mountain or traveling to more prosperous Cultivator realms.

One could say that the Golden Core Cultivators are already the most powerful among them!

Therefore, faced with Li Chengshuoʼs question, Li Zhirui did not know how to explain at once. He couldnʼt possibly say it was because of Li Zhiyue that the two Elders were left with lingering fears, could he?

”Life is unpredictable. They must be worried that Cheng Huo would encounter accidents,” he said.

Li Zhirui paused for a moment then asked, ”Shuo, has the family had any hunting teams over these years?”

”Hunting teams? Iʼve never heard of them.”

The response from Li Chengshuo left Li Zhirui stunned, a flash of shock crossing his face. How could this be! Even if the number of Water Devils in the sea area near Wanxian Island had reduced, or even been wiped out due to the familyʼs development,

the vast and boundless sea surely couldnʼt lack Water Devils to hunt!

Moreover, Li Chengshuoʼs answer also revealed that the act of hunting Water Devils had already stopped for a very long time!

Li Zhiruiʼs expression became somewhat ugly. In his view, having Foundation Establishment Cultivators hunt Water Devils alongside the Qi Cultivators was very important for the family!

It could not only alleviate the beast tide that occurred every ten years, but more importantly, it could serve to train the family members, letting them see warfare, bloodshed, and life and death.

”Iʼll go talk to Uncle about this matter,” he said and then stood up to leave.

Li Chengshuo always felt that something was not right, but he couldnʼt pinpoint what the problem was. After pondering deeply without success, he simply pushed it to the back of his mind.

On his way to visit Li Shiqing, Li Zhirui first sought out Li Chengmo, the former Clan Leader, to inquire about some matters.

When he came out, his face had turned exceptionally solemn. Li Zhirui had now learned that not only had the hunting teams been disbanded, but the family members could now only circle around within Yunping State and Guangqing State for their experiences outside, and they were not even allowed in Green Mountain State!

Yunping State and Guangqing State are both under Li familyʼs control, and there are no gathering places for Devil Beasts within their borders. How can they cultivate through experience in such conditions?

In fact, it wasnʼt this extreme before. It was after he returned that things changed to this state.

And the reason... was that disheartening Li Zhiyue.

——

After paying respects to the two Elders, Li Zhirui very directly stated his purpose for the visit and persuaded them, ”I understand what Uncle and the others are worried about, but isnʼt this unfair to Cheng Huo? Moreover, this is also stifling his talent and future!”

”Besides, you know what Cheng Huoʼs temperament is like. He has the family in his heart. Why create a rift over this matter?”

He paused, then added, ”The same goes for the other family members.”

Possibly due to their increasing age, Li Shiqing and Li Shilian have become increasingly conservative in their actions in recent years. Yet, many times, not moving forward is the same as regressing!

Only, the Li family has no force around them that is equal or stands in opposition. Just like Wanxian Island, itʼs like an island suspended over the sea, with delayed or even disconnected information from the outside world. Thatʼs why no problems have arisen.

And Li Zhirui, having just returned to the family, in addition to these years, unless it was a major event, would rarely take the initiative to pay attention to family affairs, so he hadnʼt noticed this problem before.

However, it was through the matter of Li Chenghuo that he glimpsed a hint, and after inquiring with Li Chengsheng, that was when he discovered the current problems within the family.

But these two were his elders; Li Zhirui couldnʼt just directly point out their problems, could he? He could only indirectly mention them through the matter of Li Chenghuo. He also believed that with the wisdom of the two old men, they would understand the meaning behind his words.

Li Shiqing and another person remained silent for a long while, sighed, and said, ”Youʼre right, we canʼt harm others just because of Li Zhiyue.”

”Iʼm already old, and seeing the family develop to this point, I feel content, even somewhat fearful. Afraid that this great situation will decline due to our decisions, I wanted to maintain the current state, thinking that the family could continue developing this way, never considering that it might actually hurt the family!”

After saying these words, Li Shiqingʼs originally aged face seemed to wrinkle even more in an instant, and much of his vigor seemed to be drained.

Seeing this, Li Zhirui immediately felt regret. Had he known it would come to this, he wouldnʼt have mentioned more and simply asked for Li Chenghuo to be allowed to gain experience outside.

Just as he was about to say something, Li Shiqing waved him off and said, ”Go back. From now on, I will no longer interfere with family matters.”

Li Shilian, who was beside him, also told Li Zhirui to leave first, as he would console Li Shiqing.

”At the beginning, we should have listened to you, instead of being stubborn, which caused our people to waste several years.”

”Brother, itʼs not too late to change things!”

From that day on, the family no longer restricted where the Qi Cultivators could go for experience and also reorganized a hunting team.

However, very few noticed that Li Shiqing no longer appeared in public and gradually faded from everyoneʼs sight.

At the same time, the newly appointed Clan Leader, Li Dayuan, took an unexpectedly bold step!

That was to artificially create a low-level Devil Beast gathering area in the mountains at the border between Yunping State and Guangqing State, to later be used as the familyʼs training grounds!

In theory, this move should have met with significant opposition from the Elders, but it was actually passed unanimously, because it was actually Li Zhiruiʼs idea.

Although Green Mountain State was close by, it was after all someone elseʼs territory, and if something happened, they would be beyond help. Moreover, a dragon does not suppress local snakes, and even more so, the Li family was far from being the dragon.

And one shouldnʼt forget that Shen Leishan now had two Nascent Soul True Lords, but why hadnʼt they made a move against Green Mountain State? The cultivation resources within Green Mountain Stateʼs borders were much richer than those in Myriad Thunder State!

Obviously, Green Mountain State had means to defend against Nascent Soul Cultivators; how much more so for the Li family, a small Golden Core familial clan?

”Finally used up all the Spiritual Medicine!” Li Zhirui couldnʼt help stretching himself; to refine the Spirit Pill as quickly as possible, he had been working overtime every day. It had been a long time since he had experienced what fatigue felt like, but these past days, he had thoroughly felt it several times.

”Are you preparing to go into seclusion?” Jiang Fengwu approached as he came out of the Alchemy Room, training the Wind Roc Bird.

”Yes, with all the trivial matters settled, itʼs time to go into seclusion,” Li Zhirui said, passing over a storage bag, ”While Iʼm in seclusion, it will be hard on you to deliver a certain amount of Spirit Pills to the family every month.”

”Donʼt worry about it.”

Li Zhirui smiled and took out another storage bag, saying, ”This is the cultivation resource Iʼve prepared for you.”
