Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 235 - 241: A Promise

Bang!

As soon as the second Devil Beast made its appearance, it set off terrifying waves. Amid the towering waves, a thirty-zhang-long Monohorn Behemoth strode forward on the water.

”Monohorn Behemoth!” Li Zhiruiʼs face changed slightly, and his expression became very serious.

This was a fourth-rank Devil Beast. Although it didnʼt have the bloodline of the Dragon Tribe, it was a descendant of the great Kun, not much inferior. Even many generations removed, with a much-diluted bloodline, the tremendous size still hinted at its distinction.

Moreover, among the Devil Race, the larger the body of the Devil Beast, the more profound its mana.

”Uncle, be careful. The strength of this Monohorn Behemoth may not be weaker than a third-stage late-phase Water Devil,” Li Zhirui said solemnly.

As soon as Li Shiqing heard this, he knew he was prepared to take it on himself, and frowned, ”Leave this behemoth to me!”

”Donʼt worry.” Li Zhirui was not trying to show off; he was confident he could delay the opponent for a moment.

After speaking, he pressed his right hand downward, and a twisted tangle of Spirit Light burst forth, transforming into two Flood Dragons on its way, forming a pair of twin-dragon scissors.

Roar!

Despite its large size, the behemoth was not slow to react; it lifted its upper body and fiercely pressed down, using a large quantity of seawater as a shield.

But under Li Zhiruiʼs attack, this defense was as flimsy as paper. The moment the two clashed, it was cut short, with the unstoppable scissor attack heading straight for the behemoth.

Howl!

A deafening cry of pain rang out for miles around, startling the Lobster Devil nearby into a sudden change of color.

It should be noted that ever since the two Devils got to know each other, it had never seen any same-rank Water Devil cause the behemoth such pain, let alone their current opponents, who were merely early-stage Golden Core human cultivators.

The Lobster Devil was beginning to regret it. Had it known these two were so powerful, it never would have emerged.

But in fact, this strike hadnʼt even broken the behemothʼs defenses; it was only the powerful biting force of the dragon scissors that caused it pain.

Li Zhirui had anticipated this, so the instant after releasing the Divine Light, he summoned his Life-bound Magic Treasure, Thousand Spirits. A white cloud appeared above his head, casting down mist and tree roots for defense.

Countless bamboo leaves glowed with a green light, and as they fluttered down, they burst forth with an intense killing intent, like sharp blades of Sword Qi piercing the sky, darkening the heavens as they shot towards the weaker spots of the behemothʼs flesh.

The two attacks arrived almost simultaneously, and the behemoth had no time to react. Its eyes, breathing holes, and other vulnerable spots were already assaulted by a huge wave of bamboo leaf Sword Qi.

Naturally, these areas did not have the same powerful defenses as its flesh, and as the relentless attacks continued, wounds and blood began to emerge.

”Humans, you dare injure me? I will have you dead!” For the first time, the behemoth spoke, its voice filled with murderous intent.

The behemoth transformed in an instant, turning into a giant man over ten zhang tall who rose to the heavens on a water column, wielding a strange Magical Treasure in his hand, which appeared to be crafted from his very own horn.

As the Magical Treasure swung, the sound of tearing space made Li Zhiruiʼs heart pound incessantly. When he saw it smashing towards him, he dodged to the side without any hesitation.

As soon as the behemoth made its move, it gained an absolute advantage, leaving Li Zhirui with no power to counter and no choice but to dodge continuously.

Fortunately, the behemoth couldnʼt keep up with his speed. Otherwise, Li Zhirui would not have been unharmed up to this point; he only appeared somewhat disheveled.

All he wanted now was to delay, for as long as Da Qing completed condensing its Demon Core, they could leave this place and avoid battling to the death with them.

Meanwhile, the battleground between Li Shiqing and the Lobster Devil was far less intense.

Li Shiqing held several magical treasures in his hand, while the opponent only possessed a pair of giant pincer hammers. But the Lobster Devil was adept at evading and would dive into the sea whenever the situation turned grim, leaving Li Shiqing without any way to handle it. He could only persistently entangle it, not giving it a chance to flee the battlefield.

As time trickled by, the Monohorn Behemoth had long seen through Li Zhiruiʼs strategy, but because of his provocation and interference, it simply couldnʼt get close to Da Qing.

However, the cost of such actions was that Li Zhirui began to sustain injuries; after all, his own strength was not enough to entangle the behemoth without paying a price.

Fortunately, with the Thousand Spiritsʼ strong defense and the addition of third-rank Defensive Talismans, his injuries were not so severe.

But as time went on, Li Zhirui became more and more relaxed, for he had noticed that Da Qing was about to succeed!

And indeed, it was so. Before long, Da Qing opened his eyes and urgently contacted Li Zhirui through Divine Sense.

Although he had just been condensing a Demon Core and could not move, he wasnʼt completely unaware of the outside world.

”Uncle, Da Qing is awake. Itʼs time to go!” Li Zhirui shouted loudly.

He then pointed at the behemoth, and a burst of splendid, colorful Divine Light exploded in an instant. The surrounding heaven and earth were painted in shades of cyan and blue, obscuring the view of the surroundings.

Li Zhirui made a move to first send Da Qing back into the space, and then using his Divine Power, he, along with Li Shiqing, merged into the breeze and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

”Damned humans!” As the Divine Power dissipated and he saw the empty space all around, the behemoth howled skyward, creating surging waves all around, indicating the extent of its anger.

——

After shaking off the two Water Devils, Li Zhirui immediately released Da Qing and asked with some nervousness, ”Are you okay?”

Your next chapter awaits on

”Iʼm fine.” Although Da Qing had broken through to the Golden Core, he had yet to refine his Henggu Bone, so he couldnʼt speak directly. However, with his Spiritual Intelligence greatly awakened, he knew how to express himself clearly with Divine Sense.

”Thatʼs good,” Li Zhirui sighed in relief.

Li Shiqing, who was at his side, asked, ”Da Qing, what Divine Power have you awakened?”

Unlike the human race, Devil Beasts would awaken a Divine Power, or even more, upon breaking through to the third rank.

The Divine Powers of the former were gifts from the Heavenly Dao and came with strict requirements, while those of the latter were inscribed in their bloodline. Reaching a certain stage, they would naturally awaken, much like the Spells that Da Qing had learned from his bloodline at the first and second ranks.

”A Defense Divine Ability, Thousand Woods into Mountains.” Even through Voice Transmission, one could hear how happy he was.

Hearing this, Li Zhiruiʼs face revealed a thoughtful expression, saying, ”In that case, the bloodline that was strengthened during your breakthrough is from the wood-based spirit turtle lineage?”

Da Qing came from the Qingxuan Turtle lineage, which had two sources in its bloodline: the water-based Black Turtle and the wood-based Qinggui.

Judging by the Divine Power he had awakened, Da Qingʼs future evolution would likely be on the side of the Qinggui.

However, compared to the fifth-rank Black Turtle bloodline, the fourth-rank Qinggui bloodline was not just a little weaker.

But things being as they were, and considering that bloodline evolution was beyond control, Li Zhirui felt some regret, yet his face did not show it. On the contrary, he happily said, ”The defense of the Thousand Woods into Mountains is extremely strong. From now on, my safety will be in your care!”

”Okay!” His response was brief and clear, yet he used a lifetime to prove his promise.

In the midst of their conversation, they had also returned to Wanxian Island.
