Invincible Martial Artist from Foreseeing Opportunities

Several soldiers dressed in the Yellow Heaven Sect’s uniform had their chests caved in on the spot, flying backward from the impact. As soon as they fell, others quickly charged in to take their place.

Wherever the Big Spear passed, corpses littered the ground. Xu Guang rode the Cyan-Scaled Horse, galloping recklessly through the enemy formation.

Soon, he encountered an obstacle. A giant that looked like an Undead appeared before him. It was over three meters tall, carrying a manic stench of blood and letting out eerie wails from its mouth. It did not look human.

But Xu Guang could tell at a glance that this creature ate people! Man-eaters had obvious differences from normal humans. This person’s eyes were blood-red and cloudy.

Almost simultaneously, he thought of the corpses that had disappeared in the city some time ago.

”Were they all eaten by the people of the Yellow Heaven Sect?!” he wondered. ”Could it be that those large pits found on the East Shore back then were also...”

His stomach churned uncontrollably. The Big Spear in his hands became even more frantic, his Power surging and dancing like a silver dragon.

”Die!”

The giant, wielding a Xuanhua Great Axe, spat out beastly words and chopped straight down toward Xu Guang’s head. The Giant Axe, weighing hundreds of pounds, brought a foul, bloody wind before it even arrived. The pressure left the Feiyun Guards behind Xu Guang breathless, their faces showing sheer terror.

Xu Guang raised his Big Spear to deflect the Giant Axe, then gave his head a slight flick. A streak of black light flew out, transforming into an arrow that pierced the giant’s chest.

The giant let out a miserable shriek. Like a madman, it dropped its axe and clawed wildly at its own chest until everything was torn to shreds.

The Essence Blood within this kind of giant was actually more abundant than that of an ordinary Elite Level Refining Viscera Martial Artist, though it was extraordinarily violent. Xu Guang was shaken inwardly.

The group swiftly swept past the corpses and regrouped. He looked at the several giants in the distance, licked his lips, and charged out with his Big Spear in hand.

Fifteen minutes later, Xu Guang pulled his Big Spear out of a giant’s chest and expressionlessly looked at Zhou Shun, who was standing beside Guan Shan.

Zhou Shun gripped a Fire Thunder Bomb in one hand and held his weapon on alert with the other. However, out of sight from the others, debris was constantly flaking off the Fire Thunder Bomb and falling to the ground.

”What are you doing?”

Zhou Shun’s heart skipped a beat. ”N-Nothing...” Feigning ignorance, he first glanced at Xu Guang, then subtly stole a look at Guan Shan.

Guan Shan hurriedly said, ”Zhou Shun is my trusted aide.”

Xu Guang gave Guan Shan a meaningful look and said nothing more. He simply urged his horse forward. ”Brother Guan, we part ways here.”

Guan Shan was stunned. ”Brother Xu!”

But right at this moment, Su Yuchan’s cold voice rang out. ”Zhou Shun, what is that on the ground?”

Guan Shan looked down and saw the debris of the Fire Thunder Bomb on the dirt, feeling somewhat puzzled.

Su Yuchan shot Guan Shan a somewhat disappointed look. This man was brave, but he wasn’t cautious or observant enough. She couldn’t help but glance at Xu Guang, the admiration in her eyes becoming even more apparent.

Zhou Shun suddenly claimed he desperately needed to relieve himself. He practically tumbled off his horse, saying as he scurried away, ”This sudden urge to take a shit is really cursed!”

However, before he could take more than a few steps, a flash of sword light swept past. Su Yuchan stared coldly at his falling corpse.

Guan Shan seemed to realize what had happened. He turned back to look at where Zhou Shun’s body had fallen, a mixture of shame and anger revealing itself in his eyes.

Xu Guang looked at the panicked and uneasy crowd around him. Not all of these people were Martial Artists. Some were the families of the Immortal Institute’s disciples, while others were ordinary mortals from the Cheng and Xu Families.

At this moment, many of them were injured, and some had run to the point of complete exhaustion. He knew that he couldn’t get far with these people in tow.

”This area is mostly safe now. The south of the city is secure. If everyone is willing, we can part ways here,” Xu Guang said. His gaze swept over the crowd before he added, ”I am their main target. If you follow me, your chances of survival will be even smaller.”

Hearing Xu Guang say this, the people indeed showed signs of being persuaded. The southern part of the city was the poorest and most densely populated. Hiding there, the Yellow Heaven Sect might actually fail to track them down for a while. They no longer wanted to risk their lives following Xu Guang.

”Thank you, Marshal Xu.” A middle-aged man from the Cheng family was the first to speak.

Xu Guang remained expressionless as the people around him looked conflicted. Finally, as the first disciple of the Immortal Institute left, it started a domino effect, and the rest of the crowd followed suit.

Xu Guang simply watched without stopping them. He was not their parent; escorting them this far was already the utmost extent of his duty and benevolence.

At the foot of a hillside, the crowd finally dispersed. Only Song Tao and over thirty Feiyun Guards remained behind Xu Guang. They had long been accustomed to following orders. As long as Xu Guang didn’t drive them away, they would continue to follow him.

”Master, what are your plans for the future?”

Zhao Fu glanced at Xu Guang, then looked at his son and Jiang Wu beside him. With a flicker of emotion in his eyes, he said softly, ”I’ll find a courtyard and live a peaceful life. Since coming from You State ten years ago, I’ve run out of energy to keep running.

”Wu, how about you...”

Jiang Wu cut him off decisively. ”I’m following you, Master.”

Xu Sanduo looked at Xu Guang with a hint of embarrassment. ”I...”

Xu Guang glanced at the members of the Xu family behind him, a flash of understanding in his eyes. ”It’s fine. I understand. There will be chances for us to meet again in the future.”

Xu Sanduo nodded heavily. As for Zhao Yong, he chose to go with Xu Sanduo, and Xu Guang said nothing more about it. One more person or one less didn’t really matter. It just meant there was one less familiar face around.

Xu Guang led Song Tao and the Feiyun Guards, breaking into smaller units to echo Guan Shan’s team from afar. Under the twilight, they looked like two bands of ghosts.

But at this moment, Xu Guang stopped in his tracks. From the shadows a dozen meters ahead of him, a figure slowly walked out.

In an unknown place.

Duan Jue’s face was deathly pale. He looked like a shattered porcelain doll, his entire body covered in pitch-black cracks, yet held together by a bizarre, eerie power.
