Beast Beauty System: The Exiled Fox is Pampered in the Beast World

Aria discovered very quickly that the Moon Crescent Fox Clan had no respect for dignity, personal space, or basic human decency.

One guard had her by the arm. The other had apparently decided that shoving her from behind every few steps was both necessary and enjoyable. Between the pounding in her skull, the bruises on her face, and the fact that Anaria’s body felt like it had been assembled out of poor nutrition and bad luck, the trip to the clan hall was beginning to feel less like a public hearing and more like a very personal attempt on her remaining patience.

”If one more person grabs me like a sack of produce,” Aria muttered through gritted teeth, ”I’m biting somebody.”

Neither guard reacted... That’s rude.

They dragged her across a broad stone courtyard washed in pale daylight. Fox clan members were already gathered in clusters ahead of them, drawn by the promise of public humiliation like flies to exposed fruit. Heads turned as she passed. Whispers rose immediately, soft and poisonous.

”That’s her?”

”The shameless one.”

”She really poisoned Young Master Cael?”

”I heard she threw herself at him after the spring banquet and still wasn’t satisfied with embarrassing herself.”

”Serves her right.”

Aria kept walking because the alternative was stopping to beat all of them with the nearest decorative object, and Anaria’s body looked like it would collapse if she attempted anything more athletic than blinking too hard.

Still, she listened.

It wasn’t the insults that got to her. These people meant nothing to her. She had known them for approximately ten miserable minutes, and she already considered them a waste of oxygen. What irritated her was the confidence. Not one of them sounded uncertain. Not one of them sounded like they were waiting to hear what had actually happened.

The verdict had been decided before she ever set foot in the hall.

Amazing, she thought. Woke up in a medieval fox cult and apparently they were all idiots.

The clan hall stood at the center of the compound, larger than the surrounding buildings and built to look important in the self-serious way old power always did. Wide stone steps led up to heavy carved doors. Tall pillars framed the entrance. Guards stood posted outside like decorative threats.

As Aria was hauled through the doors, the noise inside dimmed into a hush.

The hall was arranged exactly as she’d expected: public, theatrical, and designed to remind everyone who mattered. A raised seat stood at the front beneath the clan crest, where the clan leader sat with all the warmth of a funeral portrait. Elders occupied seats to either side, their expressions ranging from disapproval to bored anticipation. Rows of clan members stood or sat behind them, all conveniently positioned for maximum judgment.

And there, not far below the raised platform, stood the family.

The sight of them made something cold shift through the inherited memories in her head.

Fear. Humiliation. A lifetime of shrinking.

The woman in pale fur robes was elegant in a polished, expensive way, every strand of hair in place, every expression carefully measured. Anaria’s adoptive mother though Aria had already decided she would rather swallow nails than call her that. Beside her stood the adopted daughter: lovely, soft-faced, draped in pale silk, eyes already glistening with the kind of tears that had probably ruined a great many lives while preserving her own innocence.

Aria took one look at them and immediately knew the type.

Fake rich women with expensive innocence. The sort who smiled in public, cried on command, and buried knives in people with manicured hands.

Please, she thought. I’ve seen richer women do worse in better dresses.

The guards forced her to her knees in the center of the hall.

Pain shot through her bruised legs. Aria hissed and looked up, already annoyed enough to qualify as dangerous.

The clan leader regarded her with the detached expression of a man forced to address an unpleasant administrative problem.

”Anaria,” he said.

There was no concern in it. No hesitation. Not even anger, really. Just cold finality.

The stepmother stepped forward first, because of course she did.

”I had hoped,” she said softly, voice thick with disappointment so elegant it practically deserved an award, ”that this matter was all a terrible misunderstanding. I truly did. But after hearing the servants’ testimony, after learning that you were seen near Young Master Cael’s medicine, I no longer know what to think.”

Aria stared at her.

The woman pressed a hand to her chest as if this entire situation had personally wounded her.

”You have always been sensitive about your circumstances,” she continued. ”And after Young Master Cael made his lack of interest clear, I feared your jealousy might drive you to recklessness. But to poison him...” Her voice trembled delicately. ”To endanger a guest of the clan out of resentment... Anaria, how could you do such a thing?”

Oh, this was shameless.

The adopted sister lowered her gaze and stepped forward at exactly the right moment, as though they had rehearsed it which, honestly, they probably had.

”I didn’t want to believe it either,” she said, voice small and trembling. ”Sister has suffered a great deal, and I know she has always felt hurt and alone. But I did see her near the medicine earlier. I thought perhaps she was only passing by.” Her lashes fluttered, tears spilling prettily over her cheeks. ”If she truly acted in anger, then I only hope Father will show mercy.”

Aria nearly laughed.

Not because it was funny. Because the performance was so transparent it offended her on a personal level.

The hall remained silent, waiting.

Waiting for Anaria to bow her head. To cry. To deny it through tears. To beg.

Unfortunately for the Moon Crescent Fox Clan, the soul currently occupying Anaria’s battered body was not the timid, soft-spoken girl they had spent years trampling into the ground.

It was Aria Lim.

Aria Lim, only daughter of the Lim family, rich enough to make bad decisions professionally and spoiled enough to survive them with excellent skincare. Aria Lim, who had grown up in penthouses, private clubs, and banquet halls full of fake smiles and sharpened grudges. Aria Lim, who had seen social warfare conducted over champagne flutes and diamond bracelets by women who could cry beautifully while arranging your public execution.

Tears, manipulation, righteous family drama?

Please.

This fox clan was doing a low-budget version of a game she had been watching since childhood.

So no, Aria was not about to lower her head and cry just because a few overdramatic foxes had decided to put on a performance.

The clan leader spoke at last.

”You have brought disgrace upon this clan,” he said, voice even and calm in a way that only made Aria want to throw something at him. ”Young Master Cael was invited here as an honored guest. Yet because of your jealousy and inability to accept rejection, he nearly came to harm under our roof.”

He looked at her as if delivering wisdom from a mountaintop instead of condemning his daughter without evidence.

”I know you have had difficulties,” he continued. ”I know resentment has long festered in your heart. But hardship does not excuse harming others. You must accept responsibility for what you have done.”

That did it.

Aria lifted her head slowly and looked around the hall.

Then she said, very clearly, ”Are you all done?”

Silence.

Real silence this time.

The kind that falls when an audience realizes the script has just gone violently off course.

Aria glanced from the stepmother to the sister, then up at the clan leader. ”Good. Because if the performance is over, I’d like to know why I was dragged in here just to listen to bad acting.”

A collective inhale rippled through the hall.

The sister’s tears stopped so abruptly it was almost impressive.

The stepmother stiffened. ”Anaria”

”No,” Aria cut in. ”Let’s not do that voice. It’s embarrassing for both of us.”

A murmur swept through the crowd.

The clan leader’s expression hardened. ”Mind your tone.”

”Why?” Aria asked. ”No one else here seems interested in honesty, so I thought we’d all agreed manners were optional.”

The stepmother looked genuinely stunned now, which was satisfying. ”How dare you speak like this”

”How dare I?” Aria echoed. ”That’s a bold question from a woman who stood there and called this concern.”

Her gaze slid to the adopted sister, who had resumed looking fragile and wounded. ”And you.” Aria looked her over with open disdain. ”If you’re going to lie, at least commit to it. Crying halfway through makes it look cheap.”

The girl’s face went white.

”Enough,” the clan leader said sharply.

Aria turned to him.

Actually looked at him.

Not as a father. Not even as family. Just as a man sitting above a room full of people pretending justice had anything to do with this.

”You haven’t asked me once what happened,” she said. ”Not once. You didn’t call me here to hear the truth. You called me here so you could dress up a verdict you’d already made and pretend it was fairness.”

His jaw tightened.

”How disappointing,” Aria went on, voice cool and cutting. ”For a moment I almost thought the grand Clan Leader might at least have the decency to admit he’d already decided his daughter was disposable.”

Gasps broke out around the hall.

The stepmother stepped forward, outraged. ”You ungrateful girl! Your father is showing you mercy even now”

”My father?” Aria let out a short laugh. ”You should really stop using that word so casually. It doesn’t suit this room.”

The clan leader’s eyes turned glacial. ”Watch yourself.”

”Why?” Aria asked again, genuinely curious now. ”Will I be punished twice?”

The elder seated nearest the front snapped, ”Insolent!”

Aria ignored him.

The clan leader drew himself up, all stern authority and offended dignity. ”Because Young Master Cael survived, and because you are still of this clan, I will show leniency despite your crime.”

There it was. The sentence, delivered in the tone of a benevolent ruler handing out scraps.
