Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 202: Chapter 202 – Launch of MindNest (2)

”MindNest has been a dream of mine since I was a child,” Seraphine began, her voice steady despite the quiet storm of emotions moving beneath it, ”but somewhere along the way... I got distracted chasing things that were never meant for me.”

There was a pause, not long, but just enough to let the weight of that truth settle before she continued, her tone softening slightly as something more genuine, more personal, surfaced through her words.

”And today... that dream has finally become a reality, not just because of me, but because of everyone who chose to believe in it... and in me.”

Her gaze swept across the room slowly, taking in the faces, the attention, the energy that seemed to pulse through the space, and for a brief moment, she allowed herself to feel it fully before letting her voice rise again, stronger this time.

”I don’t have enough time to mention everyone by name,” she said, her grip tightening slightly around the microphone, ”but I want to officially declare...”

She paused, her lips curving faintly as anticipation built around her.

”...that this marks the opening of MindNest.”

The moment the words left her lips, the lights went out instantly.

The entire room plunged into darkness before the massive LED screens behind and around her burst to life, flooding the space with color, movement, and something almost cinematic as the visuals expanded outward, pulling everyone’s attention toward them without resistance.

Seraphine stepped aside, giving the audience a full, unobstructed view as the system came alive.

”For those of you who saw the demo,” her voice continued, now calmer, more controlled as she guided them through what they were seeing, ”this is the advanced version.”

She walked them through it carefully, explaining the interface, the functionality, the design, every detail layered in a way that felt both technical and accessible, making sure that no one in the room felt left behind, regardless of their level of understanding.

And when she reached the end, she didn’t hesitate.

”Now,” she said, her voice carrying a quiet confidence that filled the space, ”you can download MindNest from your app stores... and experience it for yourselves.”

That was all it took.

Phones came out almost instantly, the room coming alive from still attention to excited movement as people began navigating their screens, searching, downloading, exploring, and somewhere behind the scenes, Zane’s voice came through her device, barely containing his excitement.

”You’re a genius, boss,” he said, his words rushing out quickly. ”The launch is streaming live, and in just five minutes... we’ve already hit a thousand downloads.”

A small smile curved Seraphine’s lips, but she didn’t react outwardly, allowing the moment to unfold naturally around her as people began testing the system in real time.

But Zane wasn’t done.

”This is crazy,” he continued not long after, his voice climbing higher with disbelief. ”Two million downloads in thirty minutes. Do you have some kind of golden touch or something?”

That time, Seraphine couldn’t help it. A faint laugh slipped through the audience as she stepped forward again, catching their attention just as a ripple of amusement spread through them.

”Don’t worry,” she said lightly, her tone warm but purposeful, ”this isn’t the kind of game that pulls you away from real life.”

She let that settle before adding, ”It’s designed to give you just enough relief to recharge, so you can return to your daily responsibilities with a clearer mind.”

Applause followed almost immediately, rising from every corner of the room, louder this time, more genuine, more impressed.

And as Seraphine’s gaze moved across the crowd again, it landed briefly, on Voren.

For a second, she caught something she hadn’t expected.

A smile, small, fleeting, but real.

And for reasons she couldn’t quite explain, it left a quiet warmth in its wake, something subtle but lingering as she took in the way he stood there, composed and striking, dressed effortlessly for the occasion in a way that matched the atmosphere perfectly.

The organizer hadn’t been exaggerating. He really had shown up like he belonged there.

Seraphine pulled her attention back to the moment, grounding herself as she lifted the microphone again.

”And now,” she said, her voice steady, ”without taking up more of your time...”

She turned slightly, her gaze drifting toward the man who had stood beside her through every step leading to this moment.

”I’d like to introduce the CEO of MindNest... Corvine Stone.”

Corvine stepped forward with an easy confidence, taking the microphone from her with a smile that carried both charm and quiet disbelief.

”I have to admit,” he began, his tone light, instantly drawing the audience in, ”I was basically forced into this position.”

A ripple of laughter moved through the crowd. ”But honestly,” he continued, his smile widening slightly, ”who would say no?”

His gaze flicked briefly toward Seraphine before returning to the audience.

”Sera is one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met,” he said, his voice carrying a sincerity that softened the humor. ”And sometimes, I genuinely wonder what works faster—her brain... or the computers she uses to build all these amazing things.”

That earned him a louder round of laughter.

”But jokes aside,” he added, his tone serious, just enough to bring the focus back, ”this is an incredible honor. MindNest isn’t just a game, it’s a time change in perspective. A way of thinking differently, of resetting how we approach stress, work, and balance.”

He paused, his expression softening slightly as he glanced at her again.

”Thank you, Sera... for trusting me with this. I won’t let you down.”

”Thank you for accepting it,” Seraphine replied as she stepped forward, her voice warm as she leaned in and embraced him briefly.

And just like that, something changed in the atmosphere. It wasn’t loud or too obvious, but it was there.

A quiet undercurrent of jealousy moving through certain corners of the room, unspoken but impossible to ignore if you knew what to look for.

The media captured everything, cameras flashing, voices murmuring, attention drifting constantly as the event unfolded in real time, and for the first time since stepping into the spotlight, Seraphine found herself with a moment to breathe when Leon approached her.

”Congratulations,” he said, his smile easy, genuine. ”You really did it.”

She smiled back, the appreciation in her expression unguarded. ”Thank you for being here, Leon,” she replied softly before adding, almost casually, ”I was actually hoping to take a week off soon. I’ll be leaving New York for a few days.”

Leon’s brows lifted immediately, interest flashing in his eyes. ”Oh? Where to?” he asked, a teasing note slipping into his tone. ”Should I come along?”

Seraphine laughed lightly, shaking her head. ”I just need a quiet break.”

Leon’s gaze accessed Corvine briefly before returning to her. ”Is he coming with you?” he asked, his tone still light but more observant now.

She shook her head again. ”No. I’m going alone.”

Leon let out an exaggerated sigh of relief, placing a hand over his chest. ”Good. That makes me feel better already.”

Before she could respond, more people approached, investors, partners, familiar faces offering congratulations and praise, including Augustine, who greeted her with a nod of approval that carried more weight than words.

And then Voren stepped forward.

Last, unhurried, intentional, and whatever he said to her in that moment, was something she wouldn’t forget anytime soon.
