Armed Train in the Apocalypse

No energy patterns appeared on his body, and even his eye color didn’t change at all.

Yet now, he has killed more mushrooms and puppets than anyone else in the entire team!

This is the power of mastering Energy Rules; he no longer needs the Thunder Pool to maintain his Domain, because as long as any form of energy exists within his control range, this place is his Domain.

Ma Hongyu was very quiet all the way, not helping with killing mushrooms and not speaking, occasionally glancing at Su Huan, as if pondering something.

”Just walk up and you’ll be at your base?”

Su Huan gazed toward the distant mountain peak and asked with interest.

Ma Hongyu looked at the small mountain in front of him, his expression complex, ”Actually, we’ve already stepped into the base.”

”Oh?” Su Huan lowered his gaze to his feet, ”Buried under the Big Fungus Carpet, is it?”

”Yes, this is still the old nest of the Ghost Umbrella Mushroom, so their resistance is the fiercest. Walk a little further, if I remember correctly, we’ll soon reach the entrance.”

Unperturbed, Su Huan continued to walk upward. Electrical arcs pierced the air, flickering over the moving mushrooms, which instantly fell silent.

Originally thought the resistance above would be greater, but when Su Huan had killed over a thousand, he suddenly found that there were significantly fewer mushrooms around, and the crowded path behind the Fungus Carpet also lacked the bouncing silhouettes of mushrooms.

”The Ghost Umbrella Mushrooms have gathered at the mountain top and at the base below, maybe they’re scared of us.” Yu Yue’s voice appeared beside his ear.

Su Huan said lightly, ”After all, they are an intelligent species, but regrouping doesn’t mean surrendering.”

”They want to engage us in a decisive battle?” Yu Yue was somewhat surprised.

”A decisive battle? They’re not qualified for that yet.”

Without the endless mutant mushrooms and puppets, the mushroom forest suddenly became quiet. If it weren’t for the bodies piled in the gaps, it would be hard to imagine that a fierce battle had just been fought in such a peaceful place.

Soldiers began checking ammunition consumption, inspecting if their Power Armor was damaged, and under Yu Yue’s command started to scout around.

With no mushrooms to interfere, Su Huan jumped onto a relatively tall mushroom, overlooking the entire base from above.

Most of the buildings were directly covered by thick Fungus Carpet, but in some places, a corner of the buildings was exposed, mostly eroded by Fungus Carpet slime beyond recognition, yet not concealed by the mushroom forest. At the top of the small mountain, something resembling a watchtower could vaguely be seen.

From the degree of the mountain’s elevation, one could see the base area is not large, with a radius of about three kilometers, resembling a small settlement, lacking any semblance of a top-tier force.

”That’s the lighthouse, the tallest building in the camp, it was originally built to monitor the Spore Zone.” Ma Hongyu stood up and said.

On the other side, Yu Yue also jumped up, not carrying a Long-handled Axe on her Power Armor’s back but a one-point-eight-meter-long ”City Breaker.” With Power Armor, she didn’t need to carry a battery backpack all around; the electromagnetic sniper rifle could draw energy directly from the Power Armor battery. The downside was that her Power Armor’s battery life would greatly reduce in combat situations, so she remained in the team directing without participating in the battle.

”Upon detection, most function zones of the base are underground, spanning over three tiers.” Yu Yue displayed a simplified map on the Power Armor screen for Su Huan.

The whole alumni association base is divided into two parts, the surface part is just the tip of the iceberg, most of it is underground, like a poplar tree with extensive root systems.

”Fifteen tiers!” Ma Hongyu corrected on the side with a touch of pride, ”Three tiers can’t support a hundred thousand people. Although some parts weren’t completed, there are already fifteen tiers.”

Su Huan glanced at Yu Yue’s map, then estimated the base area size and population from his view underneath.

He roughly knew, most of the surface buildings are disguises and functional divisions, the real living quarters and valuable areas are all underground.

”Where do we enter?”

”There’s a hidden door over there, leading directly to the underground’s first floor hall, but I only returned once, and it’s already taken over by mushrooms. Now, it’s unsure how many floors they occupy.” Ma Hongyu pointed at a clump of red mushrooms, said somewhat anxiously.

”Most of the Ghost Umbrella Mushrooms indeed retreated to the first underground floor.” Yu Yue listened for a while, slowly added.

”Leave two squads for Old Liang to guard, the rest follow me in.” Su Huan said calmly, his feet flashed with electric light, appearing at the place Ma Hongyu pointed with a faint blue glow.

Ma Hongyu’s expression slightly changed. Although along the way Su Huan had repeatedly overturned his guesses about Tier Three Evolvers, is such speed really achievable for a Tier Three Evolver?

Why was it so much stronger than the data deduced before?

Before he could think it through, his expression changed abruptly, the mushroom cap Su Huan just stood on exploded violently.

Seeing the mushroom limp down from the root, Ma Hongyu’s eyebrow twitched furiously, leaving no trace of energy residue, purely physical strength!

This level of robust physique rivals Tier Three ”Defenders”!

What the hell! What profession is this person after all?

Ignoring his expressions, Yu Yue swiftly conveyed commands, directing the crowd to converge toward Su Huan’s position.

Su Huan stood before a clump of red mushrooms, the passage completely obscured by Fungus Carpet, nothing but exuberant fungus in sight, devoid of any human creation.

”Conductor, let me do it.” Lin Jin stepped up and said.

Su Huan shook his head, raised his hand and put it on the nearest mushroom, mobilizing energy, transforming...

”Boom!”

A six to seven-meter thick mushroom instantly vanished, a huge plume of mist surged up, colliding with the ash fog in the sky, producing crackling noises.

In the daze of Lin Jin and others, a four-meter wide passage had appeared in front, its end a mechanical door covered in rust and corrosion stains, viscous fluid flowing down from the door, trickling along the passage.

Not only Ma Hongyu, but even those always accompanying the conductor couldn’t figure out how he managed it.

”This door is complex, with multiple unlocking methods. Designed in the beginning considering various situations, retaining the mechanical structure, give me five minutes and I’ll open it!” Ma Hongyu stepped forward and said.

Su Huan’s gaze shifted slightly, calmly said, ”No need to be so troublesome, Xiaoba.”

Under Ma Hongyu’s puzzled gaze, an inconspicuous soldier stepped out, his mask revealing a young face inside, he recognized this boy as one of the five Tier Two Evolvers present in the carriage back then, but persisted, ”If forcibly dismantled, this door would be permanently locked, although I know you’re strong, but—”

”Click.”

The mechanical door voluntarily opened, as if welcoming its master home.

Su Huan looked at the dark entrance ahead, squinted his eyes, ”Prepare for combat.”

After saying that, he led the way and entered.

Xiaoba and Lin Jin followed closely, leaving Ma Hongyu awkwardly adjusting the mushroom cap on his head, entering amid the soldiers’ teasing gazes.

Su Huan softly sniffed the base’s humid air, then exhaled deeply, the abundant energy blowing away the spores that entered his nose; after mastering Energy Rules, these defenseless spores could no longer pose a threat to him.

Accurately said, most environmental interference to him had been minimized.

Though others didn’t have his power, they had Power Armor air circulation, carrying a small piece of Ghost Umbrella Mushroom Carpet, it wasn’t a problem.

Spotlights with high wattage turned on, illuminating the entire base interior thoroughly.

Like a cave, the entire space’s walls were covered with thick Fungus Carpet, only the colors changed to a mix of blue and purple hues, making stepping on it softer.

”This is...”

Lin Jin was slightly puzzled.

The soldiers who entered later paused but maintained combat readiness, extending along the edges under the captain’s lead, ever vigilant of the hall’s eerie situation.
