Reborn in the Apocalypse: A Seductive Beauty Captivates a Pure-hearted Roughneck

66: When will the news about Chapter 66 be released?Lu Chengyue had lost a bit of his composure and couldn’t hear a thing; he was still kissing her. He had his back to the outside, so even if they were seen, it would only look like they were hugging; no one could tell what he was actually doing.

Just as Xu Wanning was planning to keep holding him like that, the walkie-talkie suddenly crackled to life. ”Old Lu, the Political Instructor is looking for you.”

Lu Chengyue raised his head abruptly, as if he had been dragged out of a dream, looking dazed for a split second. He let go of Xu Wanning, straightened his clothes, picked up the walkie-talkie, and said, ”Coming.”

He squeezed Xu Wanning’s hand and said, ”Wait for me a moment.”

”Okay.” She hadn’t seen him in so long; she certainly wouldn’t leave so soon.

He walked toward the left, and when he reached the corner, he turned back and said, ”Don’t leave.”

Xu Wanning laughed. ”I won’t.”

Once Lu Chengyue’s figure disappeared, Xu Wanning leaned against the door panel and touched her neck where he had kissed her; it was still burning hot.

She leaned over the railing and looked down; the other Firefighters were still training.

There were only a few days left until June 25th, and she didn’t know when The Great Leader planned to announce matters regarding The Apocalypse, or if they intended to announce it at all.

She was just an ordinary person and didn’t have the authority to help The Great Leader decide when to make the announcement.

She took out her phone to check it. It seemed like it had rung earlier, and when she opened it, there really was a message—it was from Zhou Ke.

[Sister, we’ve discussed it, and everyone says they want to go there. As for Grandpa Zhou’s side, Jiang Heng said they would stay here to guard it, and Grandpa Zhou’s apprentices will also stay behind. They will never let anyone come in to loot the supplies.]

Xu Wanning was still worried. There were quite a lot of supplies there. If she moved, she would definitely have to take the supplies with her. How could she feel at ease if they weren’t right under her own nose?

Jiang Heng and the others hadn’t been practicing swordsmanship for long. In her previous life, there were only three Ability Users, and the rest were all ordinary people. If someone came looking for trouble, how could they possibly win?

Their families were currently still at their respective homes, and they didn’t believe a word their sons said. Xu Wanning wasn’t sure about their characters, either.

Jiang Heng and the others hadn’t revealed her secret either. It wasn’t that they didn’t trust their parents, but they were afraid of accidents. If someone accidentally let it slip, Sister Ning would be in danger.

Sister Ning had saved them, and they couldn’t let her be in danger.

Recently, they had been living at home, coming over during the day and returning home at night. Even if their parents said harsh things, they still insisted on going home. Over time, their parents got used to it and began to look at them more favorably.

As for Grandpa Zhou’s apprentices, although she hadn’t seen them often, she knew they were trained fighters, but she still didn’t quite believe they could withstand an attack from too many people.

[Tell Jiang Heng and the others to go home. Their parents are more important. If they miss the chance to save their parents just to protect these supplies, they will definitely regret it.]

[It’s not long until the 25th. From tomorrow, have Jiang Heng and the others stay home and not come over, just in case The Apocalypse arrives early.]

[As for the supplies there, after I get back, I’ll first transfer them to the villa. Whatever doesn’t fit can stay in the Zhou family basement.]

The basement Grandpa Zhou had built was extremely secret, and only a few people knew the entrance; even her parents didn’t know about it.

Zhou Ke’s message came back quickly: [Got it, Sister Ning.]

Although she knew she couldn’t influence The Great Leader’s decision, she still wanted to ask. The Great Leader might be busy, but asking Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan would be the same. [Brother Cheng, when will the news be announced? Or is it not going to be announced at all?]

[I don’t know much either. I only know that the news tonight will mention something, but I’m not clear on the specifics.]

Is it going to be announced tonight? Major cities had indeed made preparations; besides supplies, the selected buildings and facilities had also been reinforced.

If The Apocalypse didn’t come, the worst that could happen was that she would help transport those supplies back to where they came from.

[Have the compatriots overseas all been brought back?] She hadn’t been paying attention to the news these past few days.

[Most have returned, but some have decided not to. The embassies notified them without stating the specific reason, only saying that the country wanted everyone to return.]

[Most people trusted the country and were willing to return, but some had started families here, or were working or attending school, and were unwilling to give that up, so they decided not to come back.]

[The overseas embassy staff are also flying back today.]

She had long anticipated this situation. [Even if we told them directly that The Apocalypse was coming, they might not necessarily return. Regardless, we’ve done what we could, and we have a clear conscience.]

Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan agreed wholeheartedly. [You’re right; we’ve done everything we could.]

Not long after chatting with Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan, Lu Chengyue returned. ”Ningning, the Political Instructor said that starting tonight, we have no leave. We have to be on duty 24/7 and everyone must stay at the Fire Station.”

”Ah? Doesn’t that mean we won’t be able to see each other?” Xu Wanning had been thinking about coming over a few more times over the next few days. If he was on duty, she certainly couldn’t come and disturb him.

Lu Chengyue nodded, feeling bad inside. ”The Political Instructor said the news will announce something tonight, and the whole country will be under martial law. We’ll be responsible for going out to persuade people who are running away to go home.”

Xu Wanning frowned. Wasn’t this just like the staff during the pandemic?

But this was the zombie virus! If they stayed outside and got hit by the Acid Rain, what would happen?! What if they got infected with the virus?

”It’s too dangerous.” Xu Wanning didn’t want him to take that risk.

Lu Chengyue ruffled her hair. ”Don’t worry. We’ve been issued protective suits. A couple of drops of Acid Rain won’t hurt. Once it starts raining, we’ll evacuate quickly and won’t linger outside.”

Xu Wanning sighed. Those on the front lines had no possibility of retreating, and they wouldn’t want to either.

”Then I’ll stay here and keep you company today, and go home at six.”

She took out her phone to message Zhou Ke, telling him to take everyone to the villa first. She would transfer the supplies when she went back later; it was only twenty minutes away, anyway.

Lu Chengyue held her hand down. ”No need. The Political Instructor said we have the day off today, so we can do whatever we want.”

”Then let’s hurry. You can come back with me to transfer the supplies first, and then we’ll go eat and see a movie.”

It was the last date before The Apocalypse; after it started, they would only be able to watch movies at home.

”Okay.” Lu Chengyue took her hand and they went out, leaving in the car Xu Wanning had driven over. On the way, Xu Wanning messaged Zhou Ke, telling him to let everyone know to pack up and get ready to move.

When they arrived at Grandpa Zhou’s house, everyone had packed up just about everything. Xu Wanning collected their things into her space, then went to the warehouse to fill the rest of the space. ”Let’s go.”

There were enough cars at home, so they didn’t need to go in shifts.

For the first trip, everyone went together. Xu Wanning released all the supplies from her space. Afterward, she and Lu Chengyue returned, filled the space again, and went back. It took three trips back and forth to move everything.

She hadn’t realized she had collected so many supplies before, but once she started moving them, she realized there was a huge amount.

However, the happy thing was that no supplies were left behind. Her space had just expanded, and all the supplies that were originally stored in the cold storage were packed into it. There was even extra room in the space to store some firearms and ammunition.

Grandpa Zhou’s apprentices blinked. ”Then, are we still staying here?”
