Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 1605: Chapter 1585: The Chicken Thief

”Meat that melts in your mouth, aroma that penetrates your lungs, and this broth that looks crystal clear, its color dotted with green scallions and red chili peppers, added only after the soup leaves the pot, not affecting the overall flavor. Perfect balance of color, aroma, and taste, wonderful!”

Before the people from the Water Ripple Sect had a chance to act, the next second the entire pot of soup appeared in the hands of a disheveled old man who looked quite miserable. His attire was sloppy, and getting closer, one could faintly smell some strange odors.

The people around instantly retreated three feet away, only to see the old man gnawing on the chicken while holding a large bowl to drink the soup, an expression of pure enjoyment. Soon, before anyone else could react, there was only a bowl full of bones left on the table, not even a drop of soup remaining.

”I’m full and satisfied, thanks for the hospitality!” With that, the old man flashed away and left the Forget Worries Tea House trade area.

Luo Qianqian looked at all this in surprise. However, the last of the soup was stewed with ginseng... Isn’t he afraid of overdosing after drinking it all? He Wenyu knew it could be harmful to their health, but he added the ginseng he had scavenged from Feng Xi back then, although it was just a root, it was still full of potent medicinal effects.

”Just now... what was happening?” He Wenyu was also dumbstruck, feeling somewhat uneasy. When dealing with bad guys, they didn’t mind taking revenge, but if it was an innocent old man, was there not a heavy sense of guilt?

Suddenly the two exchanged glances full of apprehension.

They had seen killings, but having harmed someone’s life this way, especially an unknown person’s, didn’t sit right.

”Go look for him later, we can’t leave right now.” Luo Qianqian pulled He Wenyu’s hand and comforted him.

He Wenyu naturally understood, considering they had schemed against the Water Ripple Sect people, and most importantly, swindled a large sum of money.

Just moments ago, Luo Qianqian had collected the money, leaving funds for ingredients for the shop, and even distributed bonuses to everyone, leaving no trace of risk behind.

Because of this, the kitchen was currently in a cheer, the three helpers who had served the dishes were also cheering, only the Shopkeeper was showing a bit of calm, walking out to preside over the situation, not joining in the noise, though he received the largest red envelope.

”You’re not responsible?” The people from Water Ripple Sect had the expression of disbelief written all over their faces.

How could there be people like this? They spent such a high price, yet the final dish was snatched away? Even after the old man said that, they wanted to try it even more!

The Shopkeeper had already learned from Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu’s bad ideas and was beaming with a smile: ”Sorry for the unpleasant shopping experience, we can offer you a pot of clear tea to soothe anger and anxiety. With a calm heart, facing each day and each event with tranquility, you’ll be favored by good fortune.”

”Compensation!” Instantly, the one who spoke just now became furious, slamming the table, which suddenly collapsed along with the chicken soup bowl on it.

Whenever a dish was served, it would take away the plate from the previous dish, whether it was finished or not, so at the moment only the soup bowl was affected besides the table.

”Hello there, the table is made of Yellow Rosewood, a wood crafted by the most skilled artisans, having a history of three hundred years, after being sculpted and refined by time, it’s placed in our store for its presence. The white jade bowl holding the Noble Duke soup is a unique historical piece from the Distant Hermit, no other like it. Considering your large consumption amount in our store, the compensation can be discounted to 95%, how do you see?”

The Shopkeeper showed no concern for the attitude of the opposing party, always with a smiling face, but Mo looked suspiciously at Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu, not believing that what the Shopkeeper said had nothing to do with these two!

”Moreover, once sold, we do not take responsibility. After all, our people have already placed the soup on your table, so in a way, it’s your inadequate safeguarding that caused this. Just imagine buying fabric at a shop, paying for it, then it gets robbed, would the shop be liable for compensation? In the same way, why should we be responsible for soup already placed before you? It’s not a product quality issue; if it was, we would accept a return, but clearly, you’re just picking a fight. Your inadequate safeguarding, how could it be our fault?”

”...Not sending you to a debate contest is such a waste, those words, so sharp.” He Wenyu sighed with an appreciative expression.

Luo Qianqian smirked: ”You can host a debate and let him participate, perfect.”

”No way, I have lots of work to do, but... uh, going to a restaurant and having your food snatched away by other guests without knowing who they are, is the restaurant really not responsible?”

”Why don’t you go try it in practice?” Luo Qianqian blinked, remaining calm.

No need to think, He Wenyu definitely wouldn’t want to do this experiment, she’s just curious, not looking to get beaten.

What if she was caught and mistaken for dining scot-free?

She certainly wouldn’t run away yelling, what if she was caught as a wrongdoer by the police?

”You! Call your boss here!”

”I am the boss.” The Shopkeeper said naturally, with no semblance of lying, while Luo Qianqian nodded in satisfaction.

The Shopkeeper truly wasn’t lying, in her view, the boss and the manager aren’t much different, she merely enjoys playing from the background...

In public, things become complicated, leading to many troublesome matters.

”Alright then, if today you don’t return the chicken soup to us, we’ll have to smash your shop!” Forget Worries Tea House is backed by Nine Heavens Pavilion, which has never been a secret, its renowned reputation owed either to Star Path fame of Luo Qianqian or only to Forget Worries Tea House’s pastries.

Only this Forget Worries Tea House trade area did main dishes as well, to make dining satisfying.

”Can’t return it.” The Shopkeeper shrugged: ”From rinsing of the ingredients, the preparation process already started, and every procedure following is precise timing. After going through eighty-one processes, the Ginseng Chicken Soup is the true luxurious feast!”

Though deceitful and misleading words, the Shopkeeper almost believed it himself, if he hadn’t watched how it’s made firsthand...

In the kitchen, the chef was busy eating since pretty much every tasty dish had leftovers, many were made in abundance.

Regarding the extra chicken soup? Soon, they would use it to make noodles...
