Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 889: Chapter 869: Luo Yanran Cooks Noodles

”Qhianqhian.” Watching Luo Qianqian being brought home by Fang Youyuan, Luo Xiying looked confused, not understanding what had happened.

Luo Qianqian, seeing the three concerned faces watching her, smiled: ”It’s nothing. I just suddenly saw the snow and wanted to eat ice cream. I bought some candied haw for us.”

Fang Youyuan dropped Luo Qianqian off at the door and then left without going inside. He parked his car at the entrance of the neighborhood, looked at the house, sighed slightly in his car, and lit a cigarette: ”...Sometimes, timing really feels important.”

A smoke ring slowly rose before her, then dissipated.

He showed a hint of a bitter smile: ”Age really is a major obstacle...”

Luo Qianqian returned home, her face wearing a smile, but the loneliness on her face couldn’t be concealed, clearly indicating she had been somewhat impacted.

”Qhianqhian.” Staying in her room, she suddenly heard a voice, causing Luo Qianqian to pause before opening the door.

”Fourth Brother?” she blinked at the person outside and then invited him into the room.

Luo Yanran saw that Luo Qianqian showed no signs of sleepiness and sighed: ”Come talk to me? Don’t keep it all to yourself.”

He was called back by Luo Xiying, after all, Luo Yanran is the closest in age to Luo Qianqian in this household.

Luo Yanran knew on the same day about the dissolution of the engagement between Jimo Cheng and Luo Qianqian. It was the biggest news in their family.

Though he felt unwilling and wanted to find that ’irresponsible’ jerk for a fight, upon reflection, it was a good thing for Luo Qianqian, as she was still young, and he originally disagreed with her dating at such a young age.

However, thinking is one thing, but seeing her like this makes his heart ache.

He sat down on the floor by Luo Qianqian’s bed with a sigh, holding a plush toy from her bed: ”Are you feeling down?”

”Huh?” Luo Qianqian paused, then looked a bit puzzled: ”Brother, have you ever been in love?”

Luo Yanran was taken aback by Luo Qianqian’s question, then confidently patted his chest: ”Of course I have.”

”Oh, then I’ll tell Nuannuan.” Luo Qianqian pouted, pretending to look disdainful.

”Hey hey hey, don’t...” Luo Yanran gave a wry smile, he had flirted before, but Qin Nuan was his first real love.

”Alright, I’m fine.” Luo Qianqian lay down on the bed looking very uncomfortable: ”I just suddenly feel a bit off, despite having gotten used to something, now it’s... Brother, it’s like someone who usually eats rice as a staple suddenly has to switch to eating bread as a staple every day. Wouldn’t that feel strange?”

”If you say so, then what about someone who has bread as a staple from the start? It’s just changing flavors, but habitually still bread.” Luo Yanran was stunned for a moment and then helplessly smiled wryly, dragging the topic into reality is indeed unusual.

If it were someone else, he would advise finding a substitute to ease the transition.

But if the person is Luo Qianqian, he’d rather accompany her without her resorting to this. His sister shouldn’t have to endure this.

”But I really don’t want to eat bread.” Luo Qianqian pouted: ”Occasionally taking a bite is fine, but to eat it all the time? Having tasted rice, I don’t want bread, rice can accompany the eight major cuisines and thousands of dishes. And bread? Jam? Peanut butter? Maybe sandwiches or burgers? I choose rice.”

”That’s entirely your taste preference, isn’t it? What does that have to do with the problem you’re currently upset about?” Luo Yanran seemed speechless as he watched Luo Qianqian turn over on the bed, looking wronged, and rubbed his own forehead: ”What happened now?”

”I’m hungry.” Luo Qianqian pouted, her face full of discontent: ”It’s all your fault, I could have held out until tomorrow...”

”Speaking of which, grandma said you didn’t eat much tonight.” Luo Yanran was stunned for a moment and then helplessly spread his hands: ”Let’s go, I’ll make you some noodles. But don’t expect too much, it certainly won’t be as good as grandma’s cooking.”

Luo Qianqian followed Luo Yanran downstairs swiftly, watching as he prepared noodles, served them, fried an egg beautifully, and finally added some meat sauce into the noodle bowl without spices.

Luo Qianqian slowly ate from the bowl, her expression occasionally filled with a tinge of conflict, and Luo Yanran sighed: ”No matter how sad you are, you still have to eat.”

”Sometimes.” Luo Qianqian swallowed the noodles, looked at Luo Yanran with helplessness: ”The noodles are undercooked, the meat sauce is a bit burnt, and you didn’t turn off the gas.”

Luo Yanran’s face stiffened, he turned off the gas silently, and sat beside Luo Qianqian: ”Should I call grandma?”

Luo Qianqian gently shook her head, looking composed, as she ate everything bite by bite.

”I’m full.” Looking at the empty bowl, Luo Yanran seemed a bit stunned.

”Brother, go to sleep. Don’t worry about me, nothing will happen to me.” Smiling at Luo Yanran, Luo Qianqian turned and went upstairs.

Luo Yanran stretched out his hand to stop Luo Qianqian, wanting to tell her not to be so sad, there was family around.

But looking at that lonely silhouette, he found himself unable to say anything.

He sighed, and as he listened to the sound of Luo Qianqian’s room door closing, saw Luo Xiying walking down the stairs: ”I...”

Luo Xiying waved his hand, disdainfully sniffing: ”In your spare time, practice your cooking skills more.”

Luo Yanran looked at his younger uncle with astonishment. Was his cooking truly the main issue right now?

After returning to her room, Luo Qianqian sat on the bed hugging her pillow, her face still expressionless, lost in thought.

The old man drifted out, seeing Luo Qianqian’s state, sighed softly: ”Using the time you spend daydreaming to reinforce your foundation would be more beneficial, distracting your attention could make you think less.”

Luo Qianqian looked at the old man in puzzlement, and suddenly asked: ”Do you have someone you like? Have you ever loved someone?”

Inexplicably using honorifics, but the old man was still taken aback, revealing no visible emotion.

Seeing the old man’s stance, Luo Qianqian tilted her head, her eyes lacking any luster, and expressionlessly tilted her head while asking: ”What does liking someone feel like?”

”Liking...” This time the old man didn’t stay silent; he looked at the ceiling: ”Is when you think of her, you smile. When you see her, all your unhappiness vanishes. As long as you’re with her, you’re willing to give up everything else, just wishing this moment would freeze, making one moment feel like an eternity...”

”Then why wouldn’t you like them anymore?” Luo Qianqian, staring at the old man, maintained her expressionlessness, with not even the slightest fluctuation in her eyes.

”Not liking? Liking, is a kind of feeling. But this feeling changes over time. Some feelings evolve into love, becoming a lifelong familial bond. But some feelings fade, leading to mutual annoyance over time. Liking is an emotion that can’t sustain indefinitely. It either evolves or devolves. When the distance closes, some things change.”

Luo Qianqian gazed at the old man, a trace of contemplation crossing her eyes.
