Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 817: Chapter 797: No Drinking Allowed

”I’ll think about it. I also need to see my schedule. After all, I’m still an ambitious student,” Luo Qianqian said.

Jimo Cheng shrugged helplessly at Luo Qianqian’s words.

Fang Youyuan nodded earnestly, ”Little junior sister makes a good point.”

Luo Qianqian nodded at Fang Youyuan’s agreeable demeanor, ”If I have time, it doesn’t hurt to go.”

The three happily chatted until someone came to call them for dinner. Only then did they straighten their expressions, jokingly thinking, ”We’re dining with elders; what would it look like to be all smiles?”

When they arrived at Jimo Kong’s room, they saw Old Master Jimo had already poured a glass of wine due to his expertise with toasting and drinking.

Luo Qianqian widened her eyes, ”Grandpa Kong, even if today is special, you shouldn’t drink like this; your health is important.”

Jimo Cheng quickly reacted and snatched away the wine glass with a look of dissatisfaction, ”Grandpa, both you and Ninth Grandpa are quite advanced in age. Can you stop acting like kids? We’ve told you many times not to drink, but it seems you never learn!”

Jimo Kong looked speechlessly at Fang Youyuan, who had grabbed the wine bottle. Luo Qianqian glanced around and also took the wine bottle from Ninth Grandpa’s hands, her expression serious.

”Is this how you treat your elders?” Jimo Kong huffed in anger, glaring at Jimo Cheng, ”Who are you saying never learns their lesson? Would you dare use such words on your elders?”

”Then... repeatedly, time after time, endlessly?” Fang Youyuan spoke with a chuckle, ”Teacher, you shouldn’t drink; it’s bad for your health. Even your food should be mainly light and healthy.”

Luo Qianqian nodded repeatedly from the side, ”Exactly, exactly, my grandpa doesn’t drink anymore!”

Old Master Jimo and Ninth Elder exchanged a glance and burst into laughter. Jimo Kong pointed to the bottle, ”It’s just plain water inside; we were just craving the taste!”

Fang Youyuan was stunned and glanced at his junior brother and sister, sniffing the bottle’s opening and nodding, ”It certainly doesn’t have any alcohol smell.”

But Jimo Cheng was skeptical—since when did his grandfather become so obedient?

Without thinking, he stuck his tongue out and licked the wine cup, his expression instantly turning sour.

Jimo Kong’s face darkened as he saw Jimo Cheng’s face growing flushed, and he smacked his head, ”Are you stupid? You dare drink anything?!”

Luo Qianqian sniffed the liquid in the cup; it indeed seemed to have an alcohol smell...

She handed the cup to Fang Youyuan, who sniffed it and then passed the bottle to Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian sniffed again; it indeed had no alcohol smell...

Jimo Cheng’s face turned red, his cheeks a bit hot, ”Senior brother, check other stuff on the table...”

He couldn’t help but feel relieved at least he just licked it...

Old Master Jimo wore a heartbroken expression, ”You wastrel, oh my, my heart aches; do you know how precious this glass of wine was?”

Despite his flushed face, Jimo Cheng’s actions and thoughts weren’t affected, and he calmly poured the liquid back into the wine bottle Luo Qianqian held.

Instantly, a rich wine aroma spread, leaving Luo Qianqian dumbfounded at this unexpected move.

At this moment, Fang Youyuan also found a small wine jar disguised as a flower vase by Jimo Cheng. He picked it up and sniffed.

”Looks like this jar won’t yield much,” Fang Youyuan said, glancing at the jar’s size and cup, ”That kind of cup is at most three cups’ worth.”

Luo Qianqian looked in amazement at the small wine jar, feeling like she’d seen it somewhere before?

”Junior brother, take it away and pour two cups of water for the two elders to enjoy,” Fang Youyuan said casually.

Jimo Kong was at a loss, wondering why Fang Youyuan, who was always composed and humble, seemed to have changed significantly in just a few hours?

”Jin Yuee, tell the people outside they can serve the dishes,” Fang Youyuan calmly held the small wine jar, inspecting it, ”This thing is quite rare.” He glanced at Old Master Jimo.

Old Master Jimo felt speechless, internally questioning why he ever accepted disciples? Wasn’t this undermining meant to teach them things, only for them to turn around and manage him?

Luo Qianqian returned after speaking, seeing both elders still unhappy but with an awkward expression, hastily saying, ”Senior brother, today’s a welcome dinner; Grandpa Kong and Ninth Grandpa haven’t drunk because they’re waiting to celebrate with you, right? Let them indulge a bit; Grandpa Kong doesn’t usually do this, right Grandpa Kong?”

Jimo Kong nodded seriously with his face full of earnestness.

Fang Youyuan laughed as he looked at Luo Qianqian, ”Since it’s a welcome dinner for me, shouldn’t we do it in my style? I quite enjoy wine; half a glass of wine each evening can help prevent cardiovascular diseases.”

Luo Qianqian tilted her head in thought; meanwhile, Jimo Cheng returned, saying, ”Let’s get a bottle then; it’s a welcome dinner after all.”

Luo Qianqian watched Jimo Kong’s face fall visibly, full of confusion, yet she still seated the two elders.

”Speaking of which, senior brother hasn’t given us gifts yet,” Jimo Cheng looked at Jimo Kong’s expression but merely raised his eyebrows, not exposing it.

Fang Youyuan also appeared calm, ”We’ll distribute gifts after dinner. But you’re asking for a gift? I’ve never seen you so eager in past years.”

”Uh... curious,” Jimo Cheng certainly wouldn’t say he has no interest in his own gift but is curious about Luo Qianqian’s.

Luo Qianqian blinked her big eyes expectantly, and after the dishes were served—aside from a bottle of wine, two bottles of grape juice were placed before Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng, with wine glasses for each.

Looking at the juice in the wine glasses, Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but smile; Fang Youyuan was certainly considerate.

Watching Jimo Kong’s confused expression, Ninth Elder had already raised his glass, ”Let me say a few words first: firstly, welcome Jin Yang back, and congratulations on your graduation exhibition’s successful completion. Congratulations on your graduation, let’s welcome Jin Yang’s return! Jin Yang, say a few words.”

Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng cooperatively raised their juices; the least compliant was Jimo Kong, but he still raised his glass.

”Ahem, first, thanks to Ninth Grandpa’s speech. My affairs are minor; today marks the first time the three of us junior siblings dine with our teacher, which is a momentous occasion. Junior brother has matured a bit; little junior sister is adorable, I feel truly gratified as the senior brother. I’ll drink up; you can take your time,” Fang Youyuan said, raising his glass and elegantly finishing the liquid inside.

”Great,” Ninth Elder raised his glass, with Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng downing their beverages following Fang Youyuan’s toast...

Old Master Jimo also lifted his glass, his brows furrowed as he took a big gulp, only to tighten his brows and eventually say, ”As expected, it’s a rotten fruit taste; is this thing really not juice?”

Hearing Old Master Jimo’s words, Luo Qianqian suddenly understood why the others had such expressions earlier and laughed helplessly; isn’t this setting a trap for the teacher?
