Immortality by Merit and Sin Coins

Chapter 241: Chapter 128: Demon Lion Suppressing Treasure Body

’Feels like I’m out of a job now.’

Lin Shu stood up, planning to find some time to contact Elder Xu and see if there was any news about the Demons.

He pushed the door open and looked again at the man who was gripping a rag, wiping the tabletop with all his might.

At this point, if Lin Shu still treated this man like a fool, then perhaps he was the real fool.

The man had seen at a glance that he was practicing a Body Tempering Immortal Technique, and had even noticed the hidden dangers left in his bones from when he had used the Blood Pool Spiritual Milk.

Although these were matters of the physical body, not of aura, and thus weren’t under the purview of his ”Tribulation” Spiritual Root,

it was enough to prove how sharp the man’s eyes were—insight that was, at the very least, on the level of the Golden Core realm.

”How could you tell?”

Since the man had already pointed it out, Lin Shu didn’t intend to beat around the bush any longer.

’A classic case of the hidden master, huh?’

He might as well be direct.

”Tell what?”

The simpleton looked up and said blankly, ”Oh, Master Lin means that. I can just feel that you’re very strong, not like Cripple.”

”That’s not what I meant. I’m talking about from the inside out,” Lin Shu said with a slight frown.

”Train the breath within, train the body without! Fists and feet are born from the heart, and four ounces can deflect a thousand pounds!”

The man suddenly dropped into a horse stance and said earnestly, ”’Train the breath within’ comes first, so you have to train that first. I heard someone reciting it by the gate. If Master Lin wants to learn, I can teach you.”

He seemed to treat ”Master Lin” as a name, just like ”Cripple.”

He said it casually, with no particular deference.

”But it’s no use. Silly Man can’t train that breath.” The man straightened up again, a deep look of disappointment on his ugly face.

”...”

Lin Shu suddenly found this all rather bizarre.

His Soul-Splitting was attached firmly to this person, sensing every change in the man’s breathing, heartbeat, and muscles.

But no matter what, he couldn’t detect the slightest sign of a lie.

”Silly Man is a genius.”

The man looked up again and said dejectedly, ”But I can’t learn anything.”

”How can you be a genius if you can’t learn anything?” Lin Shu wasn’t in a hurry, deciding to play along.

”That’s not it!” The man suddenly grew anxious, arguing stubbornly, ”Silly Man remembers! I must be a genius!”

He sounded as if he had said this to many people, only to be doubted countless times.

So he bent over and went back to wiping the table. ”If you don’t believe me, then don’t. Just don’t hit me.”

”...”

Lin Shu mulled it over for a few moments, then nodded. ”I believe you.”

He had a rough idea now. This man might really be a genius, and he had probably once possessed an extraordinary level of Cultivation.

But judging from the horrific scars all over his body, he must have suffered some great misfortune that had even fractured his memories.

”Really?”

The man froze for a second, then looked up, trying to suppress a smile, clearly overjoyed.

”Do a lot of people hit you?” Lin Shu asked curiously.

”Yes. They come and ask Silly Man questions. When I tell them, nobody believes me. They try to force me to admit I’m lying, and if I don’t, they hit me.”

The man finally couldn’t hold it in and broke into a wide, toothy grin. ”But I can take a beating.”

”If anyone hits you in the future, you can come and tell me.” Lin Shu didn’t care if the man was truly a fool or just pretending; at the very least, he had just helped him solve a major problem.

”Okay! If anyone hits Master Lin, you can come and tell me too!”

The man raised his fist and shook it in the air toward the young man, his expression serious, as if they had just made a pact.

”...”

Lin Shu was truly at a loss.

He felt that if he kept talking to this man, his own brain might get assimilated.

But looking at the man’s ugly face, at the anticipation and caution held within those murky eyes...

He took a deep breath, suppressed his feeling of embarrassment, and mimicked the man, casually raising his right fist and giving it a shake.

HEH HEH.

Completely satisfied, the simpleton picked up his rag again, grabbed a broom, and turned to leave the courtyard.
