Immortality by Merit and Sin Coins

Chapter 95: Chapter 82: Which Side Do You Choose

The young woman glanced over, immediately understanding what was happening.

But she had no intention of interfering.

In Yongzhou Pass, disciples were simply a continuous source of merit points.

If that innately deficient little thing weren’t from the Yu Family, even she would have been tempted to make a move.

”Miss Chen, did you need me for something?” Steward Luo slowed his pace.

”Get a Life Plate for this new disciple of mine.” Chen Xiangzhu casually gestured toward the taciturn figure behind her.

The young woman stood in place, her aura slightly agitated. She had clearly just broken through to the Foundation Establishment Stage.

...

Yan Jin looked toward the two figures by the desk, who appeared rather isolated and helpless.

On the way here, she had already heard about the young Immortal Descendants of the Yu Family. She hadn’t expected it was really Brother Lin.

After a moment of thought, she walked over to her Master and whispered something in her ear.

”Oh? So there’s a history between them?”

Chen Xiangzhu smiled meaningfully.

She had been at Yongzhou Pass for ten years and was considered a veteran. A whole batch of her disciples had come and gone, and she herself was nearing adulthood.

While she wouldn’t go out of her way to provoke the Yu Family, she wasn’t the least bit intimidated by these greenhorns who had just arrived.

”Little Mountain God, I’m not trying to spoil your fun. It’s just that this young man has a connection to me.”

She first smiled at Yu Qing, a flirtatious hint appearing on her still-youthful face. Then, her gaze bypassed Yu Sheng entirely and landed on Lin Shu. ”Your surname is Lin, correct? Since you’re friends with my disciple, you can come work for me.”

”The merit points will be credited to my Chen Family, but I can convert half of them into Elixirs and Magical Artifacts for you.”

”Huh?”

Yu Sheng raised her head slightly.

Perhaps due to her prior experience, she surprisingly didn’t find this older girl’s offer to be outrageous.

Even though this girl was also ignoring her and taking the merit points...

But at least Lin Shu would have a chance to cultivate and grow, instead of just sitting idly with her in the inn.

...

Yu Qing frowned and glanced over, but Chen Xiangzhu was clearly a sly one. Her face was a mask of apologetic smiles, but she showed no signs of backing down.

A Late-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator, even if they were unlucky and got killed in action, could earn at least a thousand merit points.

Now, the choice fell to Lin Shu.

He could abandon Yu Sheng, follow Yu Qing, and keep all the merit points. Or, he could remain Yu Sheng’s disciple, but he would have to surrender half his earnings as a ’tribute.’

”Tsk tsk.”

Steward Luo clicked his tongue, took out a Life Plate, and placed it on the table, intending to leave.

He had no desire to get involved in the affairs of Immortal Descendants.

But Lin Shu, the very person they were fighting over, showed no sign of conflict on his face. He simply turned and said quietly, ”Steward, please wait. You’ve forgotten something.”

”What?” Steward Luo stopped in his tracks, confused.

’No matter how eloquently the young man pleaded, I have neither the ability nor the inclination to help a young Immortal Descendant who so clearly has no future.’

”Life Plate.”

Lin Shu extended his hand, his words concise. ”You haven’t given me my Life Plate yet.”

At his words, the expressions of both Yu Qing and Chen Xiangzhu changed, showing a flash of anger at being ignored.

’Both of them had made their offers, yet this man is trying to dodge the issue with such a trivial matter.’

’Does he think he can sit on the fence and see who will offer him a better deal?’

’A mere Late-stage Spirit Liquid Foundation Establishment Cultivator doesn’t have the leverage to bargain.’

”What do you need this for.”

Steward Luo shook his head with a resigned smile. If the young man would just pick a side, he certainly wouldn’t be lacking one of these.

If he kept hesitating and angered both Immortal Families, the only Life Blood this Golden Disc would end up holding might be his own.

He took out another Golden Disc and placed it on the table.

”When is my turn to guard the pass?” Lin Shu swept it up with a wave of his sleeve, stored it away carefully, and asked again.

There was no emotion in his voice, as if he were asking a perfectly ordinary question.

But that simple question caused the atmosphere in the inn to become suddenly unsettling.

So, he hadn’t been looking at the two Immortal Descendants, not because he was waiting for them to raise their offers, but because he had never even considered their proposals from the very beginning.

Even knowing full well how perilous Yongzhou Pass could be.

This man still intended to stay by the side of the Immortal Descendant with the Innate Deficiency.

He even planned to guard the pass alone.

”Heh.”

The smile on Chen Xiangzhu’s face slowly faded. She wasn’t angry, but she didn’t spare the young man another glance.

’A newcomer, yet so arrogant and conceited.’

’The mountains below were filled with the graves of people just like him.’

’Courting death!’
