Omni-Anime: I Stand at the Forefront of Popularity

Chapter 275: Chapter 276: Wouldn’t It Be Easier to Just Say She’s Brainless? (Bonus Chapter for 100 Power Stones)

[No wonder—back when Kira was with Cagalli, the moment Kira saw Inori coming, she ran straight over to her. I thought Inori was coming to protect her own—turns out Kira was the one who was scared]

[Can’t stop laughing]

[Special fetish]

[Shocking—the Princess of Orb is actually a man!]

[I read a doujin where a prince was raised as a princess]

[Bro, lend me a volume and let’s talk]

[A bro of mine wants to ask the name of this manga. For critique purposes]

[You creeps, you actually want to read this]

[Dying of laughter—as long as the face is good, gender doesn’t matter. Even if you told me Inori and Kira are both dudes, as long as the looks don’t change, I’d still simp]

[I’m blind—I’ve gone completely blind]

Cagalli might be a tomboy, but she was indeed a girl.

Even she felt a little embarrassed wearing the ”convertible outfit.”

Because she wanted to pilot the MS, she quickly arrived at the hangar, but Cagalli discovered that Inori hadn’t started tuning the OS yet.

”Cagalli-san, please run back and forth on the deck first, so the P.A.R.A. Protective Suit can collect data on your body.”

Cagalli was a Natural, so compared to Kira’s equipment, Cagalli’s gear was more about compensating for her personal shortcomings.

Simply put, Kira’s protective suit was a bicycle—give the pedals a push and off you go.

Cagalli’s protective suit, on the other hand, was a wheelchair, a device that allowed someone with broken legs to move forward.

In terms of assistance, Kira’s set helped more, whereas Cagalli’s set gave Cagalli the ability of ”movement” itself.

Running back and forth on the Archangel’s deck in the convertible outfit really was a bit awkward.

”Um, don’t tell me I’ll have to run in an outfit like that too?” Mu scratched his head.

This kind of outfit was too challenging.

”No need,” Inori said. ”If you require it, I can also custom-make one for you separately.”

”Good thing I don’t need it.” Mu breathed a sigh of relief.

Mu really didn’t need it, because he didn’t need his senses enhanced.

”Come to think of it, what exactly is this equipment, and what does it do?” Though he didn’t need it, Mu was still curious.

Tapping at the keyboard, Inori answered Mu. ”The Phase-Adaptive, Neural-Linked, Airtight-Mobility Protective Suit—P.A.R.A.”

”...Huh?” Mu was dumbfounded.

”Phase-Shift Adaptive... is that Phase-Shift Adaptive technology?” Murrue had come over as well.

”Ah?” Mu understood even less.

”Yes.” Inori nodded.

Murrue explained. ”This technology is a method of optimizing system performance by adjusting phase difference. Specifically, it dynamically adjusts the phase difference to adapt to different working conditions or to optimize specific performance metrics. It was first used in the field of optical systems, but later gradually expanded into communications, control, and many other fields.”

”Cagalli-san is a Natural, and because of her personality, her performance is very unstable. Through this technology, Cagalli-san can be made to perform above the average level,” Inori said. ”The first A stands for Airtight Mobility Enhancer, that is, airtight-mobility enhancement. The R stands for Reactive Synaptic Link—reactive synaptic linkage. The second A stands for Anti-Radiation and Armored, representing armor reinforcement and anti-radiation capability.”

”It’s a different design philosophy from Kira’s set,” Murrue said.

”Yes. Kira is a Coordinator, with the ability to survive even amid cosmic radiation, but Cagalli is different.”

In outer space, radiation would only make Kira stronger.

But if Cagalli encountered high radiation in outer space, she really would die.

”The inner layer of the garment is a molecular-conforming latex liner. The inner side is in a semi-liquid form; upon contact with skin it automatically solidifies and conforms, seamlessly covering the body’s surface. When the latex molecular layer detects damage, it activates the ’self-repair membrane’ to repair the damage. In addition, the latex interlayer contains a special interference gel that can absorb cosmic rays and the aftereffects of a nuclear blast, converting them through the back armor into harmless photons that dissipate. In an emergency without external armor installed, it can also convert them into heat, which is then carried away through liquid evaporation.”

Mm—absolutely colorless and odorless, because it was purified water after filtration.

”It’s entirely designed for survival in space,” Mu marveled.

”Yes. Because there’s no Phase Shift Armor, the Astray’s survivability is only slightly higher than the GINN’s, so the pilot’s condition has to be taken into account.”

”In that case, this so-called ’synaptic link’ is the secret that lets Cagalli pilot the MS?” Mu asked.

”Yes. It synchronizes the reactive nerves with the MS, thereby bypassing the manual-control stage and making controlling the machine as simple as playing a game with a controller,” Inori said.

”Then wouldn’t every Natural be able to use it?” Mu’s eyes lit up.

”No. It requires someone with strong instinctive reflexes and a simple, uncomplicated mind. Because Cagalli-san’s subconscious doesn’t overthink things, during synchronization the machine makes no superfluous movements.”

[Grass (a type of exclamation), wouldn’t it be easier to just say Cagalli has no brain?]

[I thought there’d be some profound theory]

[It actually makes sense. If you overthought it—picture a girl, and then the machine subconsciously makes some indecent movement—getting socially executed on the battlefield on the spot isn’t impossible]

[Using a mecha to... you know what?]

[Aaaaah!!]

[My reading speed was too fast—by the time I realized what I’d read, it was already too late]

[Give me my eyes back!]

”No wonder only Cagalli-san can use it.” Murrue had a sudden realization.

Murrue knew very well just how simple Cagalli’s thought process was.

”By the way, Lieutenant Ramius, why have you come over?” Mu asked Murrue.

”Ah, about the AI matter. Inori-san, you said enhancement can be achieved—roughly how long will that take to complete?” Murrue asked.

”Very quickly. For an emergency, I can have Fyu-Neru replace the human operators. If it’s a matter of integrating AI into the lower layers, it can be done in a little over ten minutes. For a full-scale overhaul, roughly six hours.”

Murrue was stunned.

Not because it was too slow, but because it was too fast.

”Then... how far can you reduce the required crew?” Murrue asked.

”Fully unmanned.”

”Uh... and with personnel?”

”The captain alone.”

”And the maximum spec?”

”Me alone.”

”Besides that?”

”It can fully mirror the Archangel’s current configuration,” Inori said.

”That really is remarkable technology.”

Murrue sighed in admiration.

”Where on earth does all this technology come from?” Mu couldn’t understand it at all.

”I developed it.”

Mu was at a loss for words.

If you called it reasonable—one person doing all this research was too absurd.

But if you called it unreasonable—well, the technology and the Coordinators of this world were just that broken.

And as for Inori herself, in the Naruto world she couldn’t pull this kind of thing, because she was merely a genius of the Hyuga Clan, not a superhuman.

But in the SEED world, Inori was an out-of-spec AI from beyond this world’s technological domain. If she couldn’t even manage something like this, she’d be an embarrassment to AIs everywhere—if MOSS heard about it, it would make a special trip over just to mock her a couple of times before leaving.

”In any case, help us get through this emergency for now,” Murrue said. ”ZAFT is waiting right outside. When we leave Heliopolis, I’ll need your help.”
