Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 143: Collapse (2)

Yan Hui was breathing with difficulty. His chest rose and fell irregularly as his eyes scanned the faces around him.

Then the memory came. He had spent his treasure to save his life and had been expelled from the inheritance without obtaining absolutely anything.

The first feeling that took over his body was not relief, nor gratitude for being alive.

But rather, hatred. Pure and irrational hatred, hot, burning away his reasoning.

He felt that Kyrian and the others could have done something. The sight of Kyrian watching him until the brink of death felt like mockery to Yan Hui.

He could have helped him, they could have warned him. They could have saved the others.

But they didn’t, and in Yan Hui’s distorted mind, that was unforgivable. Even if he were in the opposite situation, he would also let everyone die.

The elders present saw Yan Hui’s eyes fixed in Mei Ran’s direction, the young man’s expression gave them a clear and familiar impression. Resentment, perhaps more than that.

Then, the questioning happened quickly. The elders and those nearby were curious about what was happening inside the tower.

After all, it had been a long time since anyone else had been expelled from the tower besides those who failed the first test.

Yan Hui thought before answering, feeding and shaping the events. And then, he spoke words that set the air on fire.

”Besides me, who had a treasure to save my life, and the disciples of the Verdant Sword Sect... all the remaining ones died in the test on the red side of the tower.”

”Shen Yu, from the Verdant Sword Sect, was the only one to pass the test on the blue side of the tower. I believe he will obtain the inheritance. I believe the tower has two inheritances, and the disciples of the Verdant Sword Sect will get both.”

The silence that followed after his words was heavy.

In the next moment, all the other elders present from the Scarlet Sun Sect and the Six Poisons Sect furrowed their brows upon hearing Yan Hui’s declaration and immediately turned toward Mei Ran.

As if she were a direct threat.

Everyone took Yan Hui’s words as truth, he didn’t seem to be lying. So that could only mean that, besides the core disciples of the Verdant Sword Sect, all their own core disciples had died inside the inheritance.

Meanwhile, the six disciples of a rival sect were still alive, and not only that, but would obtain two inheritances.

It was obvious to anyone with even a bit of intelligence. The balance was about to be broken today. In fact, it had already been broken.

Yan Hui, noticing this, continued speaking. And every sentence he spoke deepened the problem.

”They left all of us to die. They cheated somehow in the last test, ignored the others, and took the inheritance for themselves.”

Mei Ran listened to everything with an increasingly cold gaze. Long Xue was behind her, hand on her blade.

Elder Han, noticing the shift in the atmosphere, immediately placed his hand on the sword at his waist while watching the elders of the other two sects.

The cultivators from the smaller forces began retreating immediately, sensing the tension. If a war between the elders of the three sects started there, no one wanted to be caught for free.

Much less stand in the path of such overwhelming forces.

And then came the final sentence, the poisonous conclusion.

”Besides that, I saw! That boy with the special physique. He is definitely cultivating a demonic path technique. He possesses blood Qi, and therefore I believe the tower will choose him to inherit the other legacy!”

”He definitely has to be eliminated!” Yan Hui said with eyes burning in flames.

His words echoed like poison. And Yan Hui, even only partially recovered, turned his gaze toward Mei Ran with personal hatred.

Taking advantage of the dark emotions of the elders around him upon hearing that the disciples of their sects had truly died.

After saying that, he took a deep breath.

It was at that exact moment that the ground trembled.

This time, everyone heard it.

A dry bang. As if something were splitting in half.

One of the elders raised his head, immediately realizing.

”That was—”

The next sound cut off any speech. The top of the tower suddenly exploded.

Huge, energized stone fragments were launched into the sky in every direction.

A shockwave spread across the area, pushing lower-level cultivators backward.

The weakest were thrown to the ground immediately.

The faces of the elders of the Scarlet Sun Sect and the Six Poisons Sect, still nearby, tightened as they postponed whatever thoughts they were having.

”Retreat!”

Shouted one of the elders of the Scarlet Sun Sect while protecting Yan Hui.

But the tower didn’t stop.

As if it were made of paper, it began collapsing from top to bottom. Entire slices separated from the structure, falling in a cascade and raising immense clouds of dust across the plains.

The collapse was uncontrolled. The tower had lost its foundational force.

And now it fell apart like a sandcastle in a storm.

While watching the tower fall, Elder Han suddenly shouted to Mei Ran.

”Protect Ling Xue! I will search for the others in the debris, they are still inside the tower!” His voice sounded firm, and he shot forward at high speed toward the collapsing structure without waiting for a response.

...

Inside the tower, at the epicenter of the chaos, Kyrian kept the crystallized blood dome active.

The walls collapsed. The pillars fell one after another. The Qi that supported the structure evaporated unstably, like a breath being forcefully torn away.

Shen Yu remained steady inside the dome, but his expression showed he understood the gravity of the situation.

”I think it’s better if we leave here quickly.”

Kyrian nodded.

But he thought of something.

’I have no way to search for the others now. The only thing I can do is hope they survive this.’

The dome glowed under each impact. But Kyrian immediately reinforced the structure using the blood Qi in his dantians.

The treasure responded with almost perfect precision. It was like moving his own blood. The difference was that now, Kyrian was not using his own blood.

The entire tower was falling apart quickly. The internal space began to fold and twist unstably.

Kyrian looked upward. The light from the outside finally began to appear through the cracks.
