Myriad Dragon Divine Sovereign

Xiaxia’s head no longer hurt. Instead, it felt cool and refreshed. She couldn’t help but open her eyes, only to find Wen Qingye sitting nearby, sipping tea.

Xiaxia spoke up, ”Master, what happened to me?”

Wen Qingye walked over with a smile. ”You were exhausted yesterday, so you fell asleep. That’s all.”

”Oh, that explains it,” Xiaxia said, jumping to her feet.

Wen Qingye looked at his lively, cute, and impishly clever apprentice and couldn’t help but smile.

Xiaxia asked, ”By the way, Master, when are we going back to Qig Mountain Academy?”

Wen Qingye replied, ”I’m leaving tomorrow. You should stay home for a few more days.”

Xiaxia nodded. ’I can’t rely on Wen Qingye forever. I have to be strong. I have to take control of my own destiny.’ Thinking this, Xiaxia secretly made a resolution. This time, she would dedicate herself to mastering the Alchemy Dao.

Seeing the look in Xiaxia’s eyes, Wen Qingye finally felt a wave of relief.

’How can anyone grow without weathering a few storms?’

.......

Inside a dark, gloomy room in the Yue Mansion.

In a fit of rage, Lei Wu smashed the vase before him and roared, ”Wen Qingye, you actually destroyed all of my meridians! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you! No, I’ll destroy you, too! I’ll torture you and humiliate you!”

When Lei Wu had returned, he discovered that Wen Qingye’s single finger strike had completely shattered his meridians. He immediately consumed numerous pills designed to heal them, but they had no effect whatsoever.

Lei Wu calmed himself. ’I’ll go back to Master. Yes, first I’ll get my meridians healed. Once they’re fixed, Wen Qingye, you just wait for a fate worse than death.’

KNOCK KNOCK!

A sudden knock came at the door.

”Come in!”

Yue Shan strode in. Looking at Lei Wu, he said, ”Master Lei, you were looking for me?”

Lei Wu nodded. ”I have a letter here for my senior brother. He’s currently a Guest Minister for the Wang Family in the Imperial City. Just deliver this letter to him, and I guarantee I’ll make your Yue Family the undisputed rulers of Feiyun City, the number one family.”

The Wang Family was one of the Eight Great Families of the Celestial Martial Country, their power placing them among the top-ranked in the entire nation. Lei Wu was clearly showing off by saying this.

Hearing this, Yue Shan’s face lit up. He took the letter from Lei Wu’s hand, glanced at it, and tore it open.

”Yue Shan, I didn’t tell you to read it! I told you to deliver it to the Wang Family in the Imperial City!” Lei Wu roared, furious that Yue Shan had opened the letter.

Yue Shan acted as if he hadn’t heard Lei Wu, continuing to read the letter in his hand.

Lei Wu shot to his feet, roaring, ”Yue Shan, are you trying to get yourself killed?”

Yue Shan glanced at the letter, nodded in satisfaction, and said, ”Not bad. I like it a lot.”

Finished speaking, Yue Shan looked at Lei Wu and sneered. ”What? You still think you can throw your weight around in front of me?”

”Yue Shan, you!” Lei Wu stared at Yue Shan in disbelief, unable to trust his own eyes and ears.

Yue Shan scoffed. ”Take a good look at yourself. I showed you a little respect, and you really thought you could order me around like a dog? Let me tell you, right now, you’re worth less than a dog to me.”

Lei Wu’s face was grim, a dangerous glint hidden in his eyes. He took a deep breath. ”Perhaps I was out of line before. I apologize.”

Yue Shan smacked his lips as he watched Lei Wu, then chuckled. ”So, Master Lei knows how to be flexible. I’m seeing you in a whole new light.”

Lei Wu said in a low voice, ”Yue Shan! Don’t push your luck. I still have my senior brother and my master...”

”And where are your master and senior brother now?”

”If they knew you were treating me with such disrespect, they would kill you without a doubt.”

Yue Shan said emotionlessly, ”They won’t know.”

”Yue Shan, what are you doing? You dare kill me?” Lei Wu’s heart lurched in shock as he stumbled back several steps.

Yue Shan smiled. ”What do you think? If I kill you now, who’s to say I did it? I can just pin it all on that Wen Qingye brat. I’ll even embellish the story a bit. Hmph, wouldn’t it be better to sit back and reap the rewards?”

Lei Wu’s heart trembled. He never imagined that Yue Shan, who had always been so fawning and obedient, was actually such a ruthless person.

Lei Wu’s tone softened. ”What will it take for you to let me go?”

Yue Shan shook his head. ”Let you go so you can get revenge on me? I’m not that stupid.”

Lei Wu slowly backed away, a flicker of terror appearing in his eyes as he looked at Yue Shan’s savage expression.

”AAAAHHH!”

Bloodcurdling screams echoed from the room, enough to set one’s teeth on edge.

Lei Wu had not died at the hands of Wen Qingye, but at the hands of Yue Shan, the very man he had been helping. It was a tragedy of his own making. Wen Qingye’s contingency plans for him were now rendered useless. If Wen Qingye had been there, he would have likely sighed that Yue Shan had merely sealed Lei Wu’s fate.

After a while, Yue Shan slowly emerged from the room, looking at the Pitzer in his hand. Inscribed upon it were three large, gilded words: Giant Cauldron Fist.

”Hahahahaha!” Yue Shan laughed, thoroughly pleased.

......

News suddenly spread from the Yue Mansion that Master Lei had died from grievous injuries sustained during his duel with Wen Qingye. The announcement sent shockwaves through the city.

The Yue Family’s pills were already no match for the Xia Family’s, and Lei Wu’s death only added fuel to the fire. For the sake of his family’s survival, Yue Shan had no choice but to begrudgingly sell off all his shops.

He sold them to a few outsiders, but just a few days later, Yue Shan was shocked to find that all the shops his family had sold had instantly become property of the Xia Family. It’s said that back in his study, Yue Shan coughed up a mouthful of blood in a fit of rage and began cursing Xia Heng’s name.

Meanwhile, after leaving Feiyun City, Wen Qingye headed straight for the region of Qig Mountain Academy.

A day passed in the blink of an eye, and Wen Qingye arrived at a small mountain village near the outskirts of the Hundred Break Mountains.

Sunlight bathed the land. Ahead lay fields of emerald green rice paddies, brimming with boundless life. Wen Qingye couldn’t resist walking toward them.

Just then, a small child riding an ox ambled slowly to Wen Qingye’s side. Seeing him, she cried out in delight, ”Benefactor!”

Wen Qingye looked over. It was the little girl, Yunshan, whom he had met not long ago in the Hundred Break Mountains.

Yunshan scrambled down the ox’s leg and jumped to the ground. In a small, piping voice, she said to Wen Qingye, ”Benefactor, I can’t believe we’re meeting again!”

Wen Qingye looked at the adorable little girl. ”Indeed. Is this where you live?”

Yunshan nodded her little head. ”Mhm. Please come with me, Benefactor. You can have a drink of water.”

Wen Qingye found Yunshan’s well-behaved and endearing manner quite charming. He nodded. ”Alright. I am rather thirsty.”

Yunshan led Wen Qingye for a short walk until they arrived in front of a few thatched huts. With a shy look on her little face, she said, ”This is my home. I hope you don’t find it too shabby, Benefactor.”

”How could I?” Wen Qingye smiled. ”It’s not so different from my own home, actually.”
