Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1792: Chapter 571: Yielding Initiative, Strengthening Oneself, Awakening with a Word_3

Buzz…

Even though nothing inside the main tent could be seen or heard, the occasional strong air currents that erupted nonetheless made Su Xing’er realize that this time, she might have caused some trouble.

“Commander Hou’s status in the Xia Army seems not to be high, which means that the idea of urging us to cooperate in the attack on Guangning Mountain was entirely his own. The surge of blood and energy inside suggests that the main commander, Yuwen Dao, must be blaming him. In other words, capturing Guangning Mountain might have brought no results or rather mistakes, making it even harder for us to meet my mentor…”

Thinking of this, a bitter expression appeared on Su Xing’er’s face.

After the battle at the valley’s entrance ended, she was filled with joy, thinking she could soon see her mentor Xia Hong. However, at Qingtanchan Village, Xiang Liang’s words poured cold water over her hope.

“Your talents would likely fail to impress the Landgrave.”

Xiang Liang’s remark was harsh, yet it ignited a stubborn flame deep in Su Xing’er’s heart. After seeing numerous young talents in Great Xia, she realized she indeed lacked the qualifications to become Xia Hong’s disciple, but she refused to believe that Xia Hong completely lacked affection for her and her siblings.

The four months at Evergreen Valley, the half-year at Lin Chu County, and then the reunion in Yanling County—all that time together must have made Xia Hong develop feelings for them, Su Xing’er was convinced of this.

She couldn’t meet her mentor because her accomplishments weren’t significant enough; she just needed to achieve greater feats for Great Xia to meet her mentor.

With such thoughts, as soon as she received Hou Bing’s message, Su Xing’er decided to bring the core members of the Frost Ash Association to fully cooperate, urging civilians to assist the Xia Army in the battle for Guangning Mountain.

Though Guangning Mountain was successfully captured, it seems obvious now that things did not align with her previous thoughts.

“Like Cai Qiu, there must be some power struggles at the top of Great Xia. Commander Hou’s initiative in capturing Guangning Mountain, though a merit to Great Xia, offended the main commander Yuwen Dao. If even he is blamed, then our chances of meeting the Lord are even more slim.”

Su Xing’er sighed slightly, suddenly feeling a sense of alertness.

Someone was watching her!

She turned toward the source of the gaze and immediately met a pair of eyes with a scrutinizing look.

It was a young officer clad in armor of black and silver. He looked handsome, seemingly in his early twenties, but his power was unfathomable; her level 44 strength couldn’t discern his depth.

“Profound Scale Silver Armor is the attire of the Dragon Forbidden Captain. Earlier inquiries revealed that the captains are the top-talented second-generation scions of Great Xia’s noble families; these people shouldn’t know us…”

As Su Xing’er was pondering this, the young officer suddenly walked straight over to her.

“You four received teachings from the Lord?”

Hearing the young officer’s question, Su Xing’er realized he had heard of her situation. She showed a small embarrassed smile and nodded slightly.

“No need to feel that way. In my youth, I also received teachings from the Lord. Like you, I was full of hope to become his disciple. But as I encountered more and more geniuses and understood the Lord’s grandeur more deeply, I had long since abandoned that thought…”

As the young officer spoke, his voice paused, revealing a trace of reminiscence, then he seemed to realize and patted his head, laughingly bowing to Su Xing’er, “forgot to introduce myself. I’m Luo Cheng, Great Xia Dragon Forbidden Captain, Commander of Nine Camps!”

In the first year of Great Xia, before Longyou was annexed, Xia Hong ventured alone into the depths of Beehive, forming a bond of mentor and mentee with Luo Cheng.

Now, over a decade later, Luo Cheng did not know whether the Lord still remembered that experience, but it remained vividly in his own mind, even down to the details.

In early years, he too had an obsession in his mind, hoping to move the Lord with his talent and diligence and become his disciple.

But as more young talents emerged in Great Xia, his own talent became increasingly insignificant, and his diligence too lost its ranking, his obsession gradually began to loosen.

If Xia Yuzong’s astonishing talents in previous years already struck him hard, the public appearances of the two princes made him truly let go, dissolving the obsession of apprenticeship entirely.

With the talent benchmark set by the two princes, the difficulty of becoming the Lord’s disciple was exceedingly high, nearly impossible.

Being fortunate enough to have a mentor-mentee relationship with the Lord was already a great fortune, and indeed he shouldn’t ask for more.

As the Commander of the Dragon Forbidden Captain, Luo Cheng’s authority was not low, coupled with his responsibility for the security of both the main and command tents, his information channels far exceeded those of others, and he had learned much about the affairs concerning Su Xing’er and her siblings.

Having finally let go of his obsession for apprenticeship, upon seeing Su Xing’er and her siblings now, it was akin to seeing his former self, naturally breeding a sense of kinship, leading him to strike up a conversation.

Of course, these circumstances were unknown to the four siblings of Su Xing’er.

Seeing confusion on their faces, Luo Cheng did not offer any explanations, but after some contemplation, he slowly spoke.

“With the Lord’s prowess, nothing occurring in Guangning Mountain Camp escapes his notice, including your actions in the previous valley battle, which he surely saw. If he wishes to meet you, you need not do anything but wait for his summon, do you understand?”

Su Xing’er heard this and her body suddenly trembled violently.

If he wished to meet, she would need do nothing but wait.

Conversely, if he wishes not to meet, nothing she does matters.

Realizing this, Su Xing’er instantly felt her eyes welling up with tears.
