Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 481: Chapter 219: Xia City, Brothers’ Tacit Understanding 2

Yue Feng looked at the tunnel, pondering any possible improvements.

”Building directly underground, we lack experience, and the manpower and resources required would be several times that of the surface, which is currently unrealistic...

We could cut down all the trees around the tunnel, which would prevent Cold Beasts from settling and reduce maintenance costs...”

This tunnel, upon Xia Chuan’s approval, has already been named the ”Xia Direct Road.”

Now, the Xia Direct Road is not only being constructed in Mirror Valley, but also in Wuyuan, and in Redwood Ridge, several coal mines have also begun.

It’s worth mentioning that Yue Feng received a reward of 5000 Contribution Value points for suggesting the ”Xia Direct Road.” If he could propose better improvements, it’s likely that the subsequent rewards would not be few.

Luo Cheng was unaware of the thoughts in Yue Feng’s mind.

As he observed the tunnel along the way, after walking south for more than ten kilometers, he noticed that the bamboo walls on both sides had turned into Red Frost Wood walls, and immediately realized he should have left the Arrow Bamboo Forest.

Evidently, when Great Xia was building the tunnel, they sourced materials locally; from Mirror Valley to Arrow Bamboo Forest, they used green bamboo; beyond the Arrow Bamboo Forest to Great Xia Valley, they used Red Frost Trees.

”We’ve arrived!”

After walking another five or six kilometers south, following Yue Feng’s cue, Luo Cheng looked up at the tunnel’s end, where the light source indeed ended.

The end of the tunnel led to a wooden hut. Luo Cheng followed Yue Feng inside, and as he stepped outside the hut, his expression froze instantly.

Around a kilometer ahead from the hut, a massive black city wall stretched from Twin Dragon Mountain in the east to Redwood Ridge in the west, coming into view. Although there was some distance between them, Luo Cheng could tell at a glance that the height of the city wall was at least ten meters.

”Is this... this... the city wall built by Great Xia?”

”Follow me, we’ll get a clearer view up close!”

Luo Cheng’s reaction was exactly what Yue Feng had expected.

Not only Luo Cheng, but even he, after having seen this wall countless times, would still be filled with pride and reverence each time he returned from Mirror Valley and saw it again.

The towering fifteen-meter-high, three-kilometer-long gigantic city wall was visually overwhelming, and this was just the northern side.

As a member of the Great Xia Camp behind that city wall and having personally participated in its construction, Yue Feng naturally felt a sense of pride and admiration.

Trailing behind Yue Feng, as they walked west along the northern city wall to its end and then turned south, seeing the four-kilometer-long western city wall, Luo Cheng’s astonishment deepened, and his curiosity about Great Xia soared.

The third time Yue Feng mentioned returning to the city, it turned out this was what he meant!

In just two short years since his father had relinquished the valley, Great Xia had developed it into a giant city. Such a magnificent and grand city wall, how many Cold Beasts and strange creatures could it repel? How many people could the space within the walls accommodate? To what extent had Great Xia developed...?

Question after question filled Luo Cheng’s mind, and as he and Yue Feng walked to the middle of the western city wall, seeing the majestic giant iron gate, his breath involuntarily halted, and all the questions in his mind vanished in an instant.

The city gate, fifteen meters high and eight meters wide, stood in parallel with the wall. It hung mid-air with sixteen enormous chains as thick as a person. No one knew how it was secured, and at this moment, it hung half-open.

Above the city wall hung a colossal wooden plaque with the words ”Great Xia” in golden letters, shining bright under the furnace flames on either side.

People were coming and going beneath the city wall, some wearing Black Iron Armor, others wearing pale gold armor like Yue Feng’s subordinates, some simply dressed like Yue Feng, and even women walking with children, chatting and laughing...

Each carried longbows, held sharp blades, and many were just returning from hunting outside, carrying huge prey. Luo Cheng even observed two or three hunts measuring nearly ten meters, clearly Intermediate Cold Beasts.

”Yue Feng is back.”

”Sir is back!”

”The garrison officer has returned.”

”Haven’t seen you for days, hey, why are you bringing a child?”

”Isn’t Yue Yuan just over a year old, how did he grow so big in the blink of an eye?”

..........

As they reached the city gate, many greeted Yue Feng, and those close to him even joked with Luo Cheng upon seeing him.

”Shoo, shoo, shoo, I’ve got important things to do, no time for idle chatter.”

Yue Feng replied with a smile and a retort, thinking of his son he hadn’t seen in days, a smile appeared on his face, and he pulled Luo Cheng through the city gate.

Of course, the necessary procedures were still in place.

A team guarded the city gate. Upon seeing Yue Feng, they saluted first, then took a piece of Solidified Fire Oil to check over both of them, smiling and letting them pass once everything was confirmed fine.

”Sir, how many of those wearing pale golden armor does Great Xia have?”

After entering the city gate, Luo Cheng couldn’t hold back any longer and asked.

Yue Feng’s ten subordinates were also wearing pale golden armor, and when they killed Lu Sheng’s five people, they all participated. Just from the force of their arrows, Luo Cheng could deduce that these people’s Basic Strength was definitely over twenty thousand catties, possibly even higher.

He originally thought that those wearing pale golden armor were Great Xia’s elite, and compared to the Beehive’s situation, Great Xia couldn’t possibly have too many.

But just now under the city gate, he saw at least sixty or seventy, even the team guarding the gate was like that, which made him even more curious.
