Chapter 1005: Chapter 1089: Accidentally Made Fifty Million

Dong Mingchao’s brow was tightly furrowed.

He was also driving a modified Hummer, and the engine was no weaker than Chen Nan’s. However, he fell behind by several meters as soon as they started because his car was equipped with a semi-automatic dual-clutch transmission, causing the engine’s explosive power to lose a bit when switching to second gear just now.

How could his manual gear shifting speed possibly be faster than an automatic!

Dong Mingchao couldn’t believe this fact at all. After all, with manual gear cars, shifting gears requires pressing the clutch pedal yourself, whereas with his semi-automatic model, after switching to manual mode, he only needed to push the gear lever and the sensitive dual-clutch technology should be able to change gears almost instantaneously.

But now, the intelligent dual-clutch technology actually lost to the most primitive manual gearbox in terms of gear-changing speed.

This is a harsh reality.

At this moment, Dong Mingchao’s car front was almost sticking to the rear of Chen Nan’s car.

Soon, they reached the first uphill slope.

It was about a 45-degree slope, one that ordinary family cars would not dare to tackle.

However, for such a legendary car that could fight in WWII, the pressure of this slope was not very significant.

Chu Wenrou, sitting beside, excitedly shouted, ”Hurry, hurry, get ready to go uphill, don’t let him overtake us.”

Chen Nan had never played off-road before and wasn’t very familiar with the skills, so he stepped on the accelerator to the floor. Instantly, dirt flew from the wheels as the car sped up the slope but didn’t land. Instead, it flew into the air, reaching over two meters high.

Chu Wenrou screamed in fright, roaring, ”What are you doing? Do you play like this!”

Chen Nan was also startled. Having never played with such things before, he didn’t know how to maintain the fastest speed after climbing the slope.

The car flew into the air, causing the four wheels to lose traction, making it impossible to accelerate for a short time.

In the meantime, Dong Mingchao took advantage and, with dirt flying behind his car and the engine fully bursting, overtook Chen Nan.

By the same time, Chen Nan’s car fell back to the ground, but since the car lost control in the air, it landed skewed on the track. By the time he turned the wheel to correct it, Dong Mingchao was already over a dozen meters ahead.

”With such a novice skill, he dares to compete with me. Hasn’t played off-road before, right?”

Dong Mingchao laughed ahead, extending his left hand out of the car window and giving a middle finger, openly expressing his disdain.

With Chen Nan’s fiery temper, if it weren’t for the five million prize, he would have rushed up and dragged Dong Mingchao out of the car to give him a lesson on manners.

”What are you doing? Are you piloting a plane?”

Chu Wenrou also turned back to glare at Chen Nan with a face filled with frustration.

Chen Nan ignored her, stepping on the gas pedal hard to catch up with Dong Mingchao, which angered Chu Wenrou even more: ”Chen, you dare to ignore me? I warn you, if you lose, I’ll fight you to death!”

Chu Wenrou stared intensely at Chen Nan, but Chen Nan paid no attention. Helplessly, she could only snort coldly and turn her head away.

At this moment, a ninety-degree sharp turn appeared ahead.

Faced with such a bend, Dong Mingchao instinctively slowed down. After all, the cornering stability of off-road vehicles isn’t as good as racing cars, and going too fast could cause the car to slide off the track or even tip over.

But Chen Nan didn’t slow down at all, instead accelerating wildly.

Now in third gear, the engine was at five thousand revolutions, at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. As Chen Nan pressed the accelerator, dirt flew, and the speed continued to increase.

”Are you crazy? This isn’t a race car, going this fast will make it roll!” Chu Wenrou roared.

Chen Nan ignored everything, stepping on the gas pedal closely chasing Dong Mingchao in front.

Dong Mingchao had already reduced his speed to around 100 kilometers, thinking his cornering speed was fast enough. But just then, he heard a ”whoosh” as Chen Nan raced past him on the side, splattering dirt all over his windshield.

”Damn, are you courting death!”

Dong Mingchao yelled, angrily stepping on the accelerator, trying to chase Chen Nan.

But when he increased his speed to 120, he didn’t dare to accelerate further, feeling it was already the limit speed. If he went any faster, the car would definitely lose control.

By then, Chen Nan had started entering the corner.

He slammed the accelerator to the floor, the engine roared as its revolutions soared. The car, primarily rear-wheel drive with supplementing front-wheel drive, caused the rear wheels to completely lose traction, skidding sideways through the corner with dirt flying everywhere.

Dong Mingchao was shocked. Drifting on an off-road track is much harder to control than on paved roads.

Seeing the gap between himself and Chen Nan reaching ten meters, Dong Mingchao was anxious. Fortunately, there was an uphill road ahead.

He thought he could overtake Chen Nan on this slope like before, but to his surprise, despite it being Chen Nan’s first time off-roading, his ability to grasp the techniques was astonishingly high.

This time, as the vehicle was about to rush to the top of the slope, he eased off the accelerator.

When the front of the car was airborne, and the rear wheels just reached the top, Chen Nan downshifted to second gear and floored the accelerator, causing the rear wheels to fling dirt like a bulldozer. The front wheels lifted slightly as the car rocketed forward.

After rushing over ten meters, the front wheels landed on the ground, the speed already at 120 kilometers and the engine revolutions at over 8000.

Chen Nan promptly shifted to third gear and continued accelerating, charging forward fiercely.

Behind, Dong Mingchao was completely dumbfounded. He thought he could overtake Chen Nan on this curve, but surprisingly, Chen Nan opened up another five-meter gap.

”How... is this possible!”

Dong Mingchao couldn’t believe that this off-road newbie could grasp things so quickly.

However, he hadn’t lost hope since up ahead was a rugged surface.

He thought he could definitely overtake Chen Nan here, but once they reached the rugged surface, he found that Chen Nan wasn’t so easy to deal with.

Except for not performing very well on the first two, Chen Nan grasped the techniques behind them, not only being fast but also incredibly stable, finishing with a steady 180-degree drift at the finish line.

And Dong Mingchao, at this moment, was still over twenty meters behind.
